My wife had been looking for a new setting for her diamond. She did some looking around and told me about a mounting event at a place down the street from GDS. We went to the "mounting" event that was touted to be an exciting event with once a year pricing. It was a let down. No excitement. Granted there was a large selection but even the pricing was unremarkable. My wife said she wanted to stop by GDS and show me the ring of one of the employees. So she introduced me to Hala. From the very beginning Hala and her sister, Mais, greeted us with excitement and an apparent passion for what they do that's not seen in organizations these days. Hala and Mais took a lot of time with my wife to make sure she got the setting of her dreams. And my wife looked at a good number of options. Through it all, Hala and Mais made my wife excited about the process and it seemed for a while that we were the only customers in the store. All of their time and energy were spent making my wife happy. Hala and Mais took what is seemingly just a purchase experience and made it fun. It reminded me of Berns Restaurant and how they took dinner and turned it into an experience with dinner, a dedicated dessert room and even a tour of their wine cellar. All of that turns an ordinary dinner into an experience. Well, Hala and Mais did the same thing. What was an ordinary shopping experience at the "mounting event" was an enjoyable and exciting experience at GDS. In the end, my wife could not be happier. I've also purchased several items which have all been lovely and unique; I appreciate that there's such a variety of items that are not mass produced. This past year I have purchased 7 pieces of jewelry from them and every time I was there I was treated so well. Their customer service is excellent. Twice I was taken care of by Mais and she was great. I wanted something made that they didn't carry and I showed her the picture she ordered the diamond and setting I wanted and within a week it was ready. I even recommended my sister go see her when she wanted the same piece made. In my last interaction I was taken care of by Joe Navarro (sp?). Joe was great as well. In the past when I've purchased jewelry at other places it kind of felt like buying from a used car salesman but at gold and diamond source it felt more like buying from a friend. When we first entered the store we felt a little intimidated, a little out of place, since we were on a lower budget and not sure whether there was something there that we could afford. All of this went away when we met with Dan. He made us feel completely at home, he assured us that there was something there for us in our price range, and there was, there was plenty. A specific blond woman who I unfortunately didn't get her name was the most condescending person I have ever met. I knew the first moment she spoke but was stuck with her doing my appraisal. Will never buy from them again. I bought a ring a couple years back to upgrade my wife's engagement ring. We always have taken it in twice a year to get checked and dipped. When we bought it they told us she could drop off her wedding band to be dipped with ring every time. We were actually told this by Julie the owner on the commercials and after 2 years of doing it my wife went to drop it off today and was told it was policy to never do that. The rep was quite rude about it when she tried to explain they have done it every time and said some must have made a mistake every time. I used to recommend this place to friends and family I will definitely quit doing that. read more

The Gold & Diamond Source has a convenient location, but they operate with a business model that I just don't care for. I compare the process to buying a car - before you go, there is a lot of information out there to help you become an informed consumer. Even though there is a MSRP, unless there is incredible demand, few people ever pay the sticker price. Unfortunately for jewelry, there is simply a lack of information available to the average consumer to gauge whether or not the price they receive is above, at or below market. That being said, the sticker prices can be somewhat arbitrary - and most likely on the high side. Watching the salesmen in action, it sounded like many people "were getting a deal." Discounts are great, but if everyone is given a super-duper VIP price, then is it really a good deal? Especially if all that is happening is a discount from an already inflated starting price? This is not a knock on this store as being unique in this approach - many jewelry places operate under this model. But at the end of the day this is a business transaction, so I for one would be happier knowing the true cost of my purchase. read more

went to gold & diamond source with a $9000 diamond ring (another jeweler gave me). An Asian salesperson went to the manager and she came back and offered me $2000. I know 1.5 carat is worth more than 9k, based on its quality, but to steal it from a prospective customer is wrong. Make sure you go to other jewelry dealers before you even think about giving it to gold & diamond source. I wanted to trade it for a Rolex, didn't need the cash. read more

What a terrible experience! Heard great things from AM radio show Ron n Ian, went to trade in a diamond and get a larger one for my fiancé. Lady inspected diamond was unsure took it to a guy in a suit, he asked who's is it? Whispered something in her ear and she returned with a quote for under $100, for a diamond over a carat! I said no thanks and began browsing the store. Saw a ring with a diamond smaller than mine, asked what kind and how much. It was selling for $3500!! Haa I then went to some shops around the ulmerton area and each jeweler appraised my diamond for over $2000! I then see a commercial about how the old man and old woman want to give back to the community? I guess the spend all the profits on advertising, I will not be going back. read more

I am a Nurse and today my heart was broken by Gold and Diamond Source. My fiancée and I purchased a diamond wedding ring from Gold and Diamond Source for over $3,000 five years ago. I noticed a chip on my diamond today so I went back to the store to see what could be done. The fIrst thing the clerk said was "what did you do to it?" I responded nothing. I am very cautious and take care of my valuables and especially my wedding ring. Too make matters worse the clerk had his senior advisor look at the Diamond and he said the diamond is now worth only $200 in a trade-in. I was told the small diamonds on my wedding ring are warranted but not the center diamond. My husband asked is this common that diamonds crack and the clerk said no. I just had the diamond cleaned in October and I have only had Diamond Source clean the diamond. My question is why am I at a loss when I did nothing wrong. I have never in my life heard of anybody having a problem with their diamond. If I didn't chip the diamond, there is either a defect in the diamond or they chipped it when they cleaned it. No offer was made to compensate me for now owning a $200 diamond that my fiancé paid over $3000. My experience started off wonderful treated with the best customer service and knowledge. My fiancé and I purchased my engagement ring which I had since June. Upon wearing it I have learned that I am allergic to multiple forms of metal. My fiancé and I were constantly told all these different things to try from a representative of this establishment - "clear nail polish on the ring, don't wear it 3xs a week and wear costume jewelry , put ointment on my finger before I put the ring on and so on and so on. After my finger constantly having an allergic reaction to the point where it bled we reached out again seeking customer service and a resolution - to be told that they don't deal in pre owned jewelry and wouldn't buy it back nor give a refund - sorry you are out $6k . So I decided to go into the store and ask to sell the ring - which was greeted with an of course let's take a look. After being in the store for over an hr and speaking with 2 managers and one of the sons - I was constantly told they don't do returns past 30 days- there is nothing they can do I was made an offer for $3,500 even though the paper work of me paying them $4,300 plus a trade in of a $2,500 ring was right in front of them in black and white . The ring I purchased FROM THEM only 4 months ago. After the son raised his voice at me , told me my allergy was my problem not his , as well as threatened to kick me out and called security over to my side as I was in tears pleading for someone to just help me - the sales manager attempted to defuse the situation and bring up the offer of $3,500 again. Where I appreciate going against the normal policies - this is not a normal situation I can not control my body's chemistry and that I am allergic - I have photos proving the reaction, medicinal documentation and to be made to feel like I am trash or a trouble maker was completely unacceptable. I have never been treated in such an disgusting manner in my life . If you plan on making a purchase you will be treated like a precious gem - if you need customer assistance or help be prepared to be threatened , yelled at, be-littled, and have security called on you. The sales manager cut me a check for $3,500 and then refused to give me back any of my paper work and documentation said it belonged to them now. As we were walking out the sales manager was apologizing to the son for refunding me any money. I have NEVER seen anything like this and pray that this helps others not to suffer the pain and loss that I have . read more
