I recently discovered garlic naan and butter chicken. Ok, I know I'm late. But I'm here now. With this discovery, I found I don't have to have the chicken or the rice. I will dip garlic naan into the sauce all day long!!! Gil Bowl is good for this. Do you see all of the sauce they gave me? I ate my sauce and naan then ordered more naan to go. The lady at the counter told me the garlic naan isn't a true naan. However it was light and flaky and delicious so I don't care what it was. I was able to reheat it the next day and dip some more. I thought about going back to get another order of the naan because I still had sauce left. My chiweenie was excited because I rinsed the chicken and gave him a couple pieces. The only thing I would complain about because there really aren't any real complaints, the music is kinda loud. For a minute while dining in I was there alone. I went after lunch. The food is great. Service is good also. It was not very busy on a Friday night. You can pick the spice levels, mild, medium, and spicy. I had mild and it was just right for me. A bit surprising that naan bread is not on the menu. The parking however, was a nightmare. There is no private parking, so you can only park on the street. And not sure if it's our luck, the close spots were all taken. We ended up parked at a grocery store and walked over. The string lights were cute. read more

A group of people from work went for the lunch buffet. As soon as we walked in, we felt immediately welcomed. The buffet was amazing. They even had gulab jamun, warm - one of my favorite desserts! Came here with a group of Indian friends and they cosigned the authenticity for the food haha. We ordered a ton of dishes to share. It is counter service so you order and pay upfront and they bring everything out to you. It's a smaller spot so takeout is super easy too, but we dined in. Incredibly good!! Every dish was so flavorful in different ways. My favorite was the yellow curry, but the mango chicken was so creamy and unexpectedly incredible too! You really can't go wrong no matter what you order. I'm a sucker for a mango lassi and they do an excellent job with theirs. Portions are huge perfect for sharing too, and prices are very decent. I had errands to run in Maplewood and decided to stop in Gol Bowl for something savory as I had had a couple of sweet treats already. I had forgotten it was the old Tapped space until I was inside. They made a few updates, but seemed to be curtains over the taps and dividers in front of the wood fired oven. I was greeted promptly and seated right at a table. It was 1:30 and I was the only patron. The server brought water and a menu. The menu was several paper pages stapled together, and I took my time going through the options. They didn't have any lunch options, so I decided to go with an appetizer, Gol Bowl Mix Non-Veg Platter. The food came fairly quick, a long tray with the three chicken options and two sauces. I tried them in order, Chicken 65 first, I was a little timid as the home version of this I had tried were super spicy, this had a little kick but wasn't too much, next up was Chicken Pakora, I have had this in fish but never in chicken. It was crunchy and had great flavor. Last, but not least, were chicken wings, they had a great flavor and were great with the mint sauce. The portions were generous, and the price point was $16.99. If you were sharing it would be plenty. I chatted with the server a bit asking questions and she was really sweet. Overall, the experience was really good, I would have liked a lunch size portion, but I enjoyed what I ordered. I would ditch the paper menus unless they put them in sheet protectors. read more

How is this place not packed every single night?! Seriously, this place is so good. Friendly staff, delicious food, cozy space. You just have to go experience it for yourself. Delicious Food! The garlic paratha, samosa, and butter chicken were perfectly cooked to the taste. Especially the butter chicken, which was creamy and the chicken was perfectly cooked. We were delighted on how large the portion sizes were. It was enough to make my stomach full and the staff were extremely helpful and heartwarming! They came out with our food moderately slightly slower but it was worth the wait! Since they have to make every meal with care. The drinks came out quick and refreshing. While walking through the heart of Maplewood looking for something a bit different with my very lovely lady (Red), we discovered this wonderful little establishment . First off let me say dining here was a very nice experience. The staff was friendly, courteous and very attentive. The food absolutely fantastic. Red ordered the creamy Indian tomato soup and I had the moligitawny soup, at 6.99 each, we also shared an order of paratha bread. The soups were homade and delicious, the bread light as air and very tasty. The fine dining in a casual setting atmosphere is a refreshing addition to Maplewood, I highly recommend that you check out this lovely little neighborhood restaurant in the heart of maplewood, you will thank yourself for doing so. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Gol Bowl! Our food was amazing. I had the Chicken Tikki Masala and it was so good. My husband had the Chicken Biryani and he said it was good as well. We also tried to Samosa and it had a great flavor. The service was great and they checked in as needed. While you can tell the restaurant is in the early stages, like menus, old hours posted, etc. They have their food figured out! We were honored to be the first table to be seated on opening night at this fabulous new location. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful offering a warm welcome to our group and many excellent suggestions from the menu. We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees. Every dish that arrived to the table was hot and well made with fresh ingredients giving off the pleasant aroma only found in Indian cuisine. We went to the maplewood location on Manchester. Really good Indian food with rich flavors. We tried 4 dishes plus Nan... all was delicious. I thought it'd be fast casual, but our dinner was table service by a couple of smiling friendly women. It's casual and pretty quick, but cute fairy lights provide a fun ambiance. Heat levels are adjustable. They do not sell alcohol, but the server mentioned that we were welcome to bring our own wine next time! Love a byob, especially when the food is this good. read more

I've been waiting for an Indian restaurant to open up near me for ages! We started with the Lamb Pepper Fry for an appetizer. It was amazing! We also tried the Saag Paneer, Tikka Masala, and Mumbai Methi chicken. The Methi chicken might have won, but they were all great. The Mango Lassis were lovely, and the Chilli Paratha was amazing.
