I had errands to run in Maplewood and decided to stop in Gol Bowl for something savory as I had had a couple of sweet treats already. I had forgotten it was the old Tapped space until I was inside. They made a few updates, but seemed to be curtains over the taps and dividers in front of the wood fired oven. I was greeted promptly and seated right at a table. It was 1:30 and I was the only patron. The server brought water and a menu. The menu was several paper pages stapled together, and I took my time going through the options. They didn't have any lunch options, so I decided to go with an appetizer, Gol Bowl Mix Non-Veg Platter. The food came fairly quick, a long tray with the three chicken options and two sauces. I tried them in order, Chicken 65 first, I was a little timid as the home version of this I had tried were super spicy, this had a little kick but wasn't too much, next up was Chicken Pakora, I have had this in fish but never in chicken. It was crunchy and had great flavor. Last, but not least, were chicken wings, they had a great flavor and were great with the mint sauce. The portions were generous, and the price point was $16.99. If you were sharing it would be plenty. I chatted with the server a bit asking questions and she was really sweet. Overall, the experience was really good, I would have liked a lunch size portion, but I enjoyed what I ordered. I would ditch the paper menus unless they put them in sheet protectors.

Our second time was just as excellent as the first! The saag paneer was creamy and flavorful. The menu has an extensive vegetarian menu as well as a robust meat menu. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. The non veg appetizer platter continues to be our favorite!

How is this place not packed every single night?! Seriously, this place is so good. Friendly staff, delicious food, cozy space. You just have to go experience it for yourself. It's never busy, there's not a big wait time for food and the food is always fresh and tasty. The parantha is one of the best things I've had in a while: buttery, flakes deliciousness.

My group enjoyed our food dining at the new Gol Bowl Indian restaurant location in Maplewood. We ordered the home style chicken curry, the chicken saag, kofta. paratha (their bread instead of naan), and a dessert. The curry was the group favorite. Our servers were attentive. The restaurant could use some wall decor and plants and different lighting. They can also take down the food photos from the front window. It makes it look like a fast food restaurant and it's not, but we enjoyed the food.. Recommend.

Food was delicious! Hot and excellent flavors. Service was great. Prices are good also. I had Samosa Chaat, Butter Chicken, and Paratha. Also Gulab Juman for dessert.

While walking through the heart of Maplewood looking for something a bit different with my very lovely lady (Red), we discovered this wonderful little establishment . First off let me say dining here was a very nice experience. The staff was friendly, courteous and very attentive. The food absolutely fantastic. Red ordered the creamy Indian tomato soup and I had the moligitawny soup, at 6.99 each, we also shared an order of paratha bread. The soups were homade and delicious, the bread light as air and very tasty. The fine dining in a casual setting atmosphere is a refreshing addition to Maplewood, I highly recommend that you check out this lovely little neighborhood restaurant in the heart of maplewood, you will thank yourself for doing so.

We were honored to be the first table to be seated on opening night at this fabulous new location. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful offering a warm welcome to our group and many excellent suggestions from the menu. We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees. Every dish that arrived to the table was hot and well made with fresh ingredients giving off the pleasant aroma only found in Indian cuisine. The jasmine rice was plentifully paired with each entree and perfectly prepared. This family owned and operated business is worth dropping in to try! I'll definitely be back.

Walking in the hostess was kind and cheerful. My waitress came over soon after and was pleasant. Not over the top friendly, but helped me with my order. She never came back. My food was delivered by a young man who seemed like he was having a bad day. He walked over put my plate down, turned around and walked away. I was trying to ask him for salt and pepper, but missed him. Shortly afterwards, an older gentleman who may have been the owner or manager, came over to check on me. The ambience was decent. The lighting was good. The restaurant was clean. The food was also reasonably priced. (I went to another Indian restaurant a few few weeks later and then naan (bread) was $6, which at that location was nearly half the price of my meal! ) The food appeared to be a meager portion, but that was just based on the presentation. It was actually a substantial amount; I only was able to eat half (A lot of restaurants work to make their items look bigger than they are in this one it was the opposite). As I was finishing up, I called over the manager, had him bring me a box in the check. He did that took my payment and thanked me for coming by. I would definitely go back to house of India. The service wasn't over the top as I like to have a server do more than just take my order, but they did have a system, my food was hot and tasty, I was served quickly, and I left pleased and ready to begin my 18 hour fast.

One thing I did notice was that a table that was seated after us (they arrived about 10 minutes after we were seated) received their food before we did, including another table that had a larger party. It wasn't a major issue, but it did stand out and is something the kitchen could and should improve on. They should really work to a FIFO (First in First Out) schedule. That said, the food itself was very enjoyable. My curry chicken, ordered at a medium spice level, was cooked and seasoned perfectly to my taste. The garlic naan was especially good--fresh, flavorful, and a great complement to my meal. Overall, this visit improved my impression compared to the first time around.
