A hair that revealed itself at the bottom of my lentil soup order. :(
    Beck E.

I ordered Ubereats from Himalayan Hut, but I should have checked the Yelp listing for its health score history. I was most of the way through my order of lentil soup, when a short but thick strand of black hair revealed itself at the bottom of the takeout container. I pray that it wasn't a pubic hair. It's not that there's anything wrong with how the food tastes - the flavors were fine, especially the Chicken Korma (though it was mild when I requested medium-level spice). The paneer tikka masala was also fine, but was pretty spicy when I requested mild. But I have no appetite for such things after finding a hair in my food.

I ate at Himalayan Hut on a recent Saturday evening. I let my vegan friend order. We ate the Black Chana appetizer. I liked the flavor but I thought the garbanzo beans were a little undercooked. For dinner we got Aloo Bodi Tama, Aloo Gobi, Vegetable Biryani, Roti, and Garlic Naan. Everything was really good but my absolute favorite was the Aloo Bodi Tama (potatoes, black eye beans and bamboo shoots cooked to perfection with Nepali herbs & seasoning). Loved the spice and the flavor and how all of the beans and vegetables were cooked. I will be back to order this one again. The service is speedy and friendly. They offer different levels of spice when you order. Good find!

First time here, and enjoyed the food very much! Restaurant seems to have lots of room and don't feel crowded at all. Watched LOTS of carry out orders get picked up on a Saturday night. We tried a Nepalese style appetizer that was unknown to us, and loved it. Very tasty and worth trying out! The chicken bin deli was hot and flavorful. Not overwhelming, and the sauce was delicious. The tandoori chicken had a great flavor and nice char on it. Service was good and we didn't have any issues with drink refills. Only problem came at the end when I tried to show the server the "check in" promotion that was listed here on Yelp (now since removed). They would not honor it and said it was fake. That made for an uncomfortable and awkward finish to our evening. I followed up with Yelp and it looks like they contacted the restaurant (who posts the offers) to get it taken down if not honored, but we didn't feel great about being slightly accused of trying to scam them.

******************* Food - average tasting Dining environment - simple, clean Service - attentive and polite service provided by kind hard working service staff It's Indian food, from my perspective. The onion nan was good and tasted homemade Nothing else was exceptional including the $12 (!!!) beer. A disappointment overall ~ Not a good value dining experience I'm sorry to say, considering food quality and cost for one person.

Himalayan Hut in St. Louis, Missouri, provided a tasty meal overall. The food was flavorful, but the Garlic Naan could have been better in terms of texture and taste. The delivery service was prompt and convenient through Door Dash.

Was excited to try the lunch buffet here but I think during Covid they don't open this option. Hypothetically this is a Nepalese place but I think they served up a lot more Indian food cuisine. - Fried Chicken Momo - I thought a momo was supposed to look more like a Chinese Soup Dumpling but it just looked more like an extremely fried regular dumpling. I didn't think this was particularly special, the skin was kind of thick and the inside was just pork. Would not particularly recommend out of the two that we got. - Lunch Special: Chicken Vindaloo, Aloo Saag, Rice, Naan, Gulab Jamun - At first glance, the dish looks kind of small but after you eat it, you will definitely get very full. I think the main entree's flavor was a little bit too light for my taste, but I did appreciate the naan which tasted like it just came right out of the oven with the crispy edges and fluffy insides. Also, this is my first time eating a Gulab Jaman that I actually liked because usually there's too much seasoning on there that I am unfamiliar with, but this one tasted more like a donut. - Complimentary Papadum with Mint Chutney - I never been to an Indian restaurant before that gave free "bread", I thought this only happened at Italian restaurants. +1 for that and for the delicious fruit chutney that was on the side. Overall, pretty okay Indian restaurant but I did appreciate their complimentary "bread" quite a bit. Come for the naan, the entrees are very okay.

The beauty of phenomenal Indian restaurants is that you can order anything on the menu and know it will taste great. On the side I had the garlic and cheese naan with basmati rice. This place appears unassuming from outside but on the inside it has an upscale feel with cloth table tops and cloth napkins, glassware, and attentive dressed up staff that frequent your table often. This time around, the experience was a little better. I ordered the curry chicken with a side of garlic naan, while my wife chose the aloo baingan. The food took about 25 minutes to come out, which felt a bit long for lunch but wasn't unreasonable. One thing I did notice was that a table that was seated after us (they arrived about 10 minutes after we were seated) received their food before we did, including another table that had a larger party. It wasn't a major issue, but it did stand out and is something the kitchen could and should improve on. They should really work to a FIFO (First in First Out) schedule. That said, the food itself was very enjoyable. My curry chicken, ordered at a medium spice level, was cooked and seasoned perfectly to my taste. The garlic naan was especially good--fresh, flavorful, and a great complement to my meal. Overall, this visit improved my impression compared to the first time around.

Walking in the hostess was kind and cheerful. My waitress came over soon after and was pleasant. Not over the top friendly, but helped me with my order. She never came back. My food was delivered by a young man who seemed like he was having a bad day. He walked over put my plate down, turned around and walked away. I was trying to ask him for salt and pepper, but missed him. Shortly afterwards, an older gentleman who may have been the owner or manager, came over to check on me. The ambience was decent. The lighting was good. The restaurant was clean. The food was also reasonably priced. (I went to another Indian restaurant a few few weeks later and then naan (bread) was $6, which at that location was nearly half the price of my meal! ) The food appeared to be a meager portion, but that was just based on the presentation. It was actually a substantial amount; I only was able to eat half (A lot of restaurants work to make their items look bigger than they are in this one it was the opposite). As I was finishing up, I called over the manager, had him bring me a box in the check. He did that took my payment and thanked me for coming by. I would definitely go back to house of India. The service wasn't over the top as I like to have a server do more than just take my order, but they did have a system, my food was hot and tasty, I was served quickly, and I left pleased and ready to begin my 18 hour fast.
