Arrived around 2:15 pm on a Saturday, and we knew the buffet was closing, so husband ran inside to check to make sure there was enough food left. He saw enough so we got a table and went to the buffet. There was just 1 other table finishing their meal, and a couple people came for take out while we ate. We wanted to eat as quickly as possible so no photos. The naan container on the buffet was empty so the lady working said she would bring naan and rice to the table. She also asked if the food was still hot since she had already turned off the buffer heaters before we got there. We tried almost everything. The meats were well spiced outside but dry inside; likely they weren't marinated. Nothing was too spicy-hot for me, but the fritters and lentil soup were too salty, though I am more salt sensitive than others. I dipped the fritters in mango chutney. Husband is unlikely to try the buffet again, but I may go with my college student when she's back over break, since she loves Indian and the price here is not too high. I was most of the way through my order of lentil soup, when a short but thick strand of black hair revealed itself at the bottom of the takeout container. I pray that it wasn't a pubic hair. It's not that there's anything wrong with how the food tastes - the flavors were fine, especially the Chicken Korma (though it was mild when I requested medium-level spice). The paneer tikka masala was also fine, but was pretty spicy when I requested mild. But I have no appetite for such things after finding a hair in my food. read more

I ate at Himalayan Hut on a recent Saturday evening. I let my vegan friend order. We ate the Black Chana appetizer. I liked the flavor but I thought the garbanzo beans were a little undercooked. For dinner we got Aloo Bodi Tama, Aloo Gobi, Vegetable Biryani, Roti, and Garlic Naan. Everything was really good but my absolute favorite was the Aloo Bodi Tama (potatoes, black eye beans and bamboo shoots cooked to perfection with Nepali herbs & seasoning). Loved the spice and the flavor and how all of the beans and vegetables were cooked. I will be back to order this one again. The service is speedy and friendly. Gone are the days of a good Indian buffet. However, Himalayan Hut's entrees are much tastier than what they offered on their buffet. The menu has a good mix of meat, seafood and vegetarian options, all cooked to perfection with those spices and sauces we love! One of the best Indian in town! read more

First time here, and enjoyed the food very much! Restaurant seems to have lots of room and don't feel crowded at all. Watched LOTS of carry out orders get picked up on a Saturday night. We tried a Nepalese style appetizer that was unknown to us, and loved it. Very tasty and worth trying out! The chicken bin deli was hot and flavorful. Not overwhelming, and the sauce was delicious. The tandoori chicken had a great flavor and nice char on it. Service was good and we didn't have any issues with drink refills. Only problem came at the end when I tried to show the server the "check in" promotion that was listed here on Yelp (now since removed). They would not honor it and said it was fake. That made for an uncomfortable and awkward finish to our evening. I followed up with Yelp and it looks like they contacted the restaurant (who posts the offers) to get it taken down if not honored, but we didn't feel great about being slightly accused of trying to scam them. read more

I love Indian food and this is a great option. Reviews during covid should mostly be disregarded because it is an exception to the norm. The chicken korma is excellent and the naan is great. There are plenty of lunch specials including Chicken Vindaloo, Aloo Saag, Rice, Naan, Gulab Jamun. All delicious. The naan, which tasted like it just came right out of the oven, with the crispy edges and fluffy insides. Also, this is my first time eating a Gulab Jama that met the standards I was expecting. We have ordered for takeout twice. Portions are generous. We love the garlic naan. We are still needing to optimize the spice, as one time we did chicken tikka medium and thought it was too spicy, the other time we ordered mild and it was not spicy enough. Some Indian restaurants just cannot get the flavors to be right. We samples our friends dishes and again, really good. I think that this place and Saffron Indian are our favorites in town. Hypothetically this is a Nepalese place but I think they served up a lot more Indian food cuisine. - Fried Chicken Momo - I thought a momo was supposed to look more like a Chinese Soup Dumpling but it just looked more like an extremely fried regular dumpling. I didn't think this was particularly special, the skin was kind of thick and the inside was just pork. Would not particularly recommend out of the two that we got. - Lunch Special: Chicken Vindaloo, Aloo Saag, Rice, Naan, Gulab Jamun - At first glance, the dish looks kind of small but after you eat it, you will definitely get very full. I think the main entree's flavor was a little bit too light for my taste, but I did appreciate the naan which tasted like it just came right out of the oven with the crispy edges and fluffy insides. Ordered last night, 7/8/23, for delivery through Uber Eats. Food arrived fine but the entire order was horrible. We had chicken vindaloo, saag paneer, and chicken tikka masala. All three dishes lacked any of the protein they were supposed to have. The vindaloo had four small pieces and some potatoes, the tika had one large piece that was dry, and the saag had three small pieces of cheese and nothing more. The veggie samosas were dry and the filling was tasteless. Cannot recommend this place and would suggest avoiding and going to any of the other top tier Indian restaurants in the area instead. read more

The only point deducted is the interior, it is dated, HOWEVER, you do Not come to a restaurant for the decor, you come for the food. And the food is worth coming for. Portions are great, too! My toddler loved walking around the buffet with me looking at the different foods and masala Chai dispenser. Speaking of their masala is delish! Couldn't have been slightly spicier/stronger in flavor but I enjoyed the creamy rich tea just the same. Favorites from the buffet options: tandoori chicken, chicken korma, fluffy Naan, rice pudding, cauliflower (aloo Gobi) , and veggies. I also really enjoyed the beef curry which I haven't had at other Indian buffets in the past. They have an array of sauces, yogurt dip (raita), salad, cantaloupe on the side as well and the usual cheese/spinach dish (saag paneer) and chicken Tikka masala. Lots of vegan/gluten-free dishes! $12.99 lunch buffet on Saturdays was a draw for me. I love Indian food, and this Indian & Nepalese cuisine was calling my name. The buffet has some familiar Indian dishes like tiki masala, galub juman, and naan but also has some Nepali influence, like the fried rice that was different from Chinese fried rice. It seem to have more seasonings including pepper and more vegetables. They also have hot Chai tea as a part of their buffet price which was nice! They also have a nice salad bar, small like most but still has some fresh salad ingredients. The food was hot and fresh. The environment was nice and clean and the atmosphere was pleasant. This place is tucked away in an old strip mall that's been around since Manchester was first paved . There have been other restaurants in its place that weren't so great, but this was a great spot. Our little group meets monthly as, International Supper Club and they help me push my taste buds to explore and discover new things. Even though we call it, "supper" club on this day we did a lunch. We came to HH for their lunch buffet. The spread was small, but had plenty of offerings for lunch. I'm not normally a buffet person, but all the food was fresh and at a good temperature. I liked it because, I was able to sample a variety of entrees and different sides. It was a great way to educate my taste buds about Indian cuisine. The service was professional. My first time to Himalayan Hut was such a treat! I met up with some Yelp folks for Sarah S's International Supper Club UYE. This place is unassuming, authentic, and delicious Indian cuisine. Upon arriving, I was greeted by someone at the counter. They pointed me towards my friends after I said I was meeting some folks. They accommodated the extra place setting I needed and then I headed to the buffet! One of the first things I noticed was how many gluten free and vegan options. There was obviously a lot of care that went into preparing each dish. In my mind the chicken tikka masala over a plate of rice was my favorite round of food. I loved how savory and sweet it was at the same time. Also loved the chicken korma, naan, and the vegetable medley. After I was completely stuffed, it was nice to sit and enjoy everyone's company. The milk tea was a nice way to complete the meal. It was perfectly balanced, bitter and sweet. It was also perfectly hot for the cold day I visited. This place is unassuming but quite good! We had eaten there before Covid, but have been taking away, since. The lamb korma is one of my favorite versions in St. Louis, both nutty and very creamy. I would not know if their sauces are authentic, but they are very consistent. Curry, korma, karahi; they are all really good! The tikki masala sauce does taste like a lightly spiced (since I order mild) tomato soup, but I observe that is true at every similar restaurant I have tried across St. Louis. I love the onion kulcha, but the cheese, garlic and cheese-garlic naans are also yummy. We have tried around the area, about 8 Indian restaurants, to try to find their differences. TL:DR - Very solid Indian food. Nothing mind blowing in the realm of Indian food overall though. Prices range from $11-$14 for dinner. Lot parking was busy on weekend evening for the strip mall, overall. Finally had a chance to try this place that opened up down the street. Came in for dinner service and it was very solid. My party of four got butter chicken (x2), lamb vindaloo, and chicken tikka masala (my dish) as well as an order of khreer and garlic naan. I ordered my chicken tikka masala medium spicy, but honestly couldn't tell the difference between that and the mild butter chicken in terms of spiciness or flavor. Regardless, it was really solid, but nothing mind blowing in terms of Indian food overall. The interior was relatively unassuming and dimly lit. It had your typical booths, tables, and bathroom. Everything just kind of screamed, "yeah, ok." The service itself was fine, the only annoyance was that I gave them a coupon for $5 off, and the waitress seemed confused but said she'd honor it and then didn't. Wasn't worth fighting over it, but still annoying. On top of that, the food seemed a bit more expensive than other places, but to be fair I haven't eaten Indian enough recently to remember what Indian dishes typically go for, but the average price was between $11 and $14. There is lot parking, but going in on a Saturday night, the parking lot was PACKED, but the restaurant itself was not. It must have been something else in the strip mall, but I can't really imagine what it'd be.... But this place definitely scratches that itch if you're looking for Indian food and are already in the area, but I probably wouldn't necessarily bring out of towners around unless they want Indian specifically. read more

Another new Indian place opened up recently, and I got to try out the lunch buffet with a couple friends. Solid place, with an okay amount of variety for a 10.99 lunch buffet. The chicken tiki masala was definitely their weak point (at least to our Asian taste buds) in comparison to other places. My personal favorite was the beef curry. Some other Indian buffets will bring you naan bread, theirs was just sitting in the buffet line, so sometimes you can get really fresh ones. read more
