Megan from Sky NRG provided a detailed quote and patiently answered my many questions about the different REC panels on the market. I ultimately chose Sky NRG based on my interaction with her and positive reviews on Google and Reddit. I also preferred a local installer in Northern Virginia, and Sky NRG fit that requirement perfectly. We signed the contract on July 26, and the panels were installed on September 10. Megan handled the HOA permissions, and the installation was completed ahead of schedule when Sky NRG found an opening that suited me. Juan and his team managed the installation with careful attention to the aesthetics of the panel placement. Robert, Sky NRG's CEO, was present during the installation, underscoring their commitment to customer satisfaction. We discovered issues with my existing electrical panel during the process, and Robert recommended replacing it. Based on the quality of work by Juan and the overall experience with Sky NRG, I opted to have them handle the panel replacement rather than seeking other bids. Juan completed the job, and I'm pleased with the result. We received Permission To Operate (PTO) from Dominion Energy on October 28, and since then, we've been consistently exporting energy to the grid. I'm delighted with Sky NRG. They never tried to upsell, were always responsive to my questions, and offered a competitive price lower than other bids. Megan and Robert continue to stay involved, and I am confident about their prompt attention to address any future issues. Highly recommended!

In my case, that timeline was not met, and I had to request an extension, which I understand may or may not be approved. I potentially lost funding for thousands of dollars. The installation process took significantly longer than originally indicated. My project began in August of last year, and I did not receive permission to operate until mid-April of this year. in my experience, communication was inconsistent, with delays in responses and updates. In early to mid-March, I reached out multiple times and was told there were no updates. After escalating my inquiry, I was later informed that a visit had already been scheduled for the following week, which I had not previously been made aware of. This was confusing and raised concerns for me about how scheduling was communicated. Why are they making in house access appointment without ever confirming with me and telling me no appointment has been made at the same time? During one visit, I observed that the door was left open for periods of time in very cold weather (in the 20s °F), despite my requests to keep it closed. When I raised these concerns, I felt that my feedback was not fully acknowledged, as the responses I received focused more on explanations than on addressing the issues I had raised. Overall, my experience was frustrating and did not meet my expectations for professionalism.

A friend recommended SmartRoof as an ethical, trustworthy provider, and I cannot thank her enough for that recommendation. Eamon, our main contact, understood that I was dealing with everything from afar, and not only became the main interface with the insurance company for us (ultimately getting us literally thousands more in insurance than I thought was possible; they really know what's claimable and what's not), but also recommended other ethical, trustworthy businesses for the interior work we needed as well. The entire process was not fast, because we did have to wait for the insurance company more than once, but in the end the quality of work was extremely good, the roof replacement itself only took one day, and insurance paid for far more of it than I expected. I would work with SmartRoof again in a second.

Firstly, our sales representative informed us that we would receive a 30% tax credit on the cost of our solar panels when we filed our taxes. Based on this information, we expected a substantial refund. However, after consulting with our accountant, we learned that the tax credit is based on income and taxes paid, meaning that while we are entitled to the full 30%, it will take several years to receive the full benefit. It would have been helpful if the sales team had explained this more clearly. Additionally, one of the installers mentioned that our solar panels would produce 10% more energy than we consume. Unfortunately, over a year of operation, our energy consumption has consistently exceeded the energy produced by the panels, which is disappointing. That said, SmartRoof's customer service is excellent. Whenever there was an issue with the panels not communicating, they were quick to respond and resolve the problem. In summary, while the installation and service were generally good, better training for their sales representatives would help ensure customers have more realistic expectations and avoid confusion down the line.

We had one specific goal: to have the system up and running before December 31. Green Brilliance delivered on that promise without a hitch. Watching the crew work from my living room window, and then seeing our system go live right on schedule, was genuinely exciting. We are already seeing a meaningful difference in our monthly energy bills, and we are looking forward to the summer months when we expect to produce significantly more energy and rely far less on the grid. In my view, this is an important detail that should have been explained more clearly during the sales and planning process so I could make a fully informed decision. Since raising this issue, I have also been frustrated by the communication. Responses to my emails have taken several days, and the issue still has not been fully resolved. When you are dealing with a major purchase like a solar system, timely communication and clear follow-up really matter. What has been most disappointing is that I still do not feel the standby charge issue has been properly addressed, and I have not seen much willingness to take responsibility for the lack of disclosure upfront. I understand that not every issue is simple to resolve, but I would have appreciated more ownership and a more proactive effort to work toward a fair solution. I believe Green Brilliance has an opportunity to do better by being more transparent about utility-related charges, especially for larger systems, and by improving responsiveness when customers raise concerns after installation. I'm sharing this feedback in the hope that it helps future customers ask the right questions and encourages the company to improve its customer communication and accountability.

    I had a very disappointing experience with Solar Solutions and would not recommend them…read more First, I referred my neighbor to them after being told I'd receive a $600 referral credit -- I never got it. When it came time to get panels on my own roof before the tax credit deadline, the process turned into weeks of back-and-forth. At first, they agreed to a price match with a competitor, and I also asked that their 10-year roof leak warranty be extended to 15 years, which they initially agreed to. However, when it came time to sign, they raised the price without any discussion, refused to honor the price match, and said it "should never have been offered." They also bad-mouthed the competitor (which came across as unprofessional) and told me it was essentially "take it or leave it." Given the limited time to secure the tax credit, this was incredibly frustrating. I walked away -- I would rather not install solar at all than work with a company that operates like this. To make matters worse, my neighbor's project (the one I referred) was mishandled as well. His roof needed repairs before solar panels could be installed. Solar Solutions told him they'd address it, but they didn't -- they just installed the panels anyway. When my roofer came out for my home, he also inspected my neighbor's and confirmed the roof needed major repair. My neighbor then had to call Solar Solutions back to remove all the panels so the roof could be fixed. What a mess. In short: broken promises, unprofessional conduct, and careless work. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're considering solar.
