The yellowtail tasted well, it really complimented with the truffled jalapeño butter and scallions + the fish was very tender. Though we only ordered 1 taco, the size was decent & had maybe 5-6 bites. Location is nice, inside the Time Out Market. Good ambiance, decent food surrounding the area, and plenty of seating: inside, outside, bar, and counters! There are many options at Time Out Market, but Gogo Ya is truely unique as it's the only place in Massachusetts that I know of that serves taco sushi. We ordered the Spicy Ahi Tuna and the Baked California and they were absolutely delicious! The seaweed taco was crispy and crunchy and with the sashimi and sauce was a delicious flavor bomb in my mouth! The old problem with the service was that they ran out of tacos when we initially went to order, but after 20 minutes they restocked. They ordered, they gave us a restaurant pager, and I got the food when it went off. Also, of note the tacos are $10 a piece so it's a bit expensive. They do validate parking. read more

I was a little lost when trying to find this place on a map app, but after seeing that the address is on Park Drive, it was easy to find it inside the building. I was captivated by their sushi tacos, but was curious if I would get full when comparing the costs between the tacos or the bowl. Taocs are $20 for 2, while the bowls are $22. I decided to go with the bowl since there might be more volume of food and got the Spicy Ahi Bento Bowl. There was definitely more rice in its proportions, and I felt pretty full from it. The ginger added a good amount of spiciness to every bite! Overall, the food was fine - not sure it was worth $22. My order was prepared pretty fast within 5-7 minutes during lunch time. One thing I did as a lazy person was order online, even though I was only a few feet away. This sushi-fusion stand seemed like a light bite and the novel nori-sushi-taco looked very interesting. I decided to go for a pair of these sushi tacos, and see if it's worth the hype. For $20 for a pair of tacos... it was underwhelming. The concept itself is very cool, though. I got the spicy tuna with the fish on top of rice tucked inside a 'nori-shell' which is basically a sheet of nori, tempura-fried in the shape of a taco shell. They added some sort of alfalfa sprout as topping and that was it. Taste-wise the rice is fresh but the fish was supermarket grade. Proportions-wise the taco was on point - really well packed but not so overfilled the integrity fails. With no wasabi, or ginger, or soy sauce provided (either they forgot to give it to me or it's not supposed to go with the sushi-taco) the taste wasn't much different than $7 sushi I could've got from star market across the street. tldr; sushi-taco concept is neato. This is a cool little sushi place inside time out market! Everything on their menu sounded really good and I decided to get the chopped sashimi bowl which is essentially the same thing as a poke bowl. They give you a buzzer and you can go walk around or sit down and come back once it's buzzing to pick up your food. This is the same case for most of the restaurants in the market. It took about 10 mins to get the food so not bad at all and it tasted really fresh! I enjoyed it. It did seem a little expensive for what you're getting but that's. I was quite wary at first since sushi tacos seem to just be a fad and not sure if they would do it well, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was - so definitely would recommend giving it a try if you're on the fence! What a great concept! Combine two of Mark T's favorite foods, and you have an automatic winner! After visiting Time Out market a long time ago I decided it was time for a return visit. Sushi tacos overroad even the chicken sandwiches I was craving before. And plus I get to experience a little bit of O Ya without paying the very high prices O Ya charges. Though to be fair, this place isn't exactly cheap either, two sushi tacos are $20. Given the location, name, and world situation, I am not going to be "that guy" and make a fuss. The afternoon I visited, they only had one person working, so service was a little bit slow. Now I realize we live in unique, and challenging times, so this is forgiven. I was able to try all of the tacos on the menu that afternoon. God knows I eat both tacos and sushi like a vacuum cleaner! All tacos were served in a crispy Nori shell. What an absolutely ideal shell for a taco! It had great flavor, and was in that golden zone between crispy and soft. You get the texture of a crisp shell, but it has just enough give so your taco doesn't become a taco salad at first bite. The breakdown: Torched Hamachi: the delight of having lightly smoky but still tender Hamachi feeling cannot be understated. The smoke just adds a whole new dimension to the experience. The little pieces of Hamachi were able to remain tender also. This taco was simple, just Hamachi, some dressed rice, and a little teeny of scallion up top. Still, these notes were enough to make for an amazing experience. Sometimes, simple is best! I've two critiques in this one: first; I would have liked a little more fish. Especially compared to the Big Eye Tuna next to it, it was lighter in the protein. Second, the truffled Jalapeño butter did not make itself known, but that could be my long since seared off taste buds than the fault of the eatery. Where it comes to the Big Eye Spicy Tuna: this was something different than the Hamachi that came before! This one was had a crisper taste through the use of daikon, and a reasonable amount of fish. A lot more flavors on use, but this didn't work against them! Two critiques here also: first, the tuna was very cold! When ingredients are cooled down that much, flavor starts taking a back seat. Second, especially with the cold, I did not perceive any heat. Torched Salmon Teriyaki was my favorite of the afternoon. It has all the good elements of the Hamachi: smokiness, balance, etc. also working for bringing out the flavors of the salmon were the light flavors of teriyaki and lemon zest. There was a fair amount of ingredient, and without a claim to be spicy, I can't really say "it wasn't spicy tho" ;) Last, I had the mushroom tacos. These had a lovely truffle and mushroom flavor that played nice with the seasoned/soy rice. Texture of the mushrooms was perfect too! Only one negative here: While there was a very fair amount of mushroom, that ingredient is cheaper than fish. Still having the same cost makes sense from an easier menu, but becomes not quite as good a value. read more

Placed a quick order for the spicy torched hamachi and torched salmon teriyaki tacos. They were ready in about 10 minutes in an equally adorable holder with the same logo as on the pager. The fried nori gave a crisp bite for the fresh torched fish and sprinkle of scallions. I didn't try the salmon but my friends did seem to enjoy it. Being the first time I had hamachi, I was thoroughly satisfied with the truffle oil soaked rice underneath. However, it was a little too oily as it was dripping out the other side as I was eating it. What an interesting fusion! This was my first time seeing and trying nori tacos. The fish here is cut up and is kind of like poke. I got the big eye tuna and truffle mushroom tacos. Surprisingly, the truffle was my favorite one and was extremely delicious. It is a little pricy though for the amount of food that you get. The store is located inside Time Out Market, so you can order and then eat in the common area that is shared with the surrounding restaurants. It is usually not hard to find a seat and when I went on a Saturday afternoon it was not packed at all. *EDIT: I ordered doordash here and unfortunately it was not as good as my first time eating here. I'm gonna echo everyone else here -- these tacos are expensive but they are perfection. The current price is 2 for $20 (as of 1/16/2022) and the tacos are not particularly large, but this is hands down the best "fusion sushi" item that I've ever had, and I'd rather eat here than at most sushi restaurants. The crispy nori shell is perfectly thin and crunchy, the rice is chewy and lightly seasoned, and the fish is plentiful and flavorful. We got the torched hamachi and the tuna. The hamachi was a superstar -- the smokiness from the torching was divine. I imagine that the torched salmon is also delicious. The tuna was also perfectly seasoned and tender. The balance of textures and flavors was masterful. I will be thinking about these tacos for a long time. I was hesitant to go to Time Out Market because I expected overpriced mediocre food. His was the first place we ate after landing in Boston. Short walk from our hotel. Located in the Time Out Boston Market, this place attracted my attention because the place uses fried nori seaweed in the shape of a taco to hold the flavored sushi rice and your choice of topping. Looked pretty cool. I chose seared hamachi for one and bluefin for the other. 2 for $20. Both were good, but didn't really Pop. But each was nicely done. Good, not great. I chose to try them "stock", without adding any sauce. If I go again, I'll try adding a sauce. You just pick a place to sit and eat. Both inside and outside, but it was too cold for outside. The soup was watery and lacked miso and salt. The tacos were both supposed to be spicy, but were bland. Supposedly the tuna came with a spicy mayo but I couldn't taste it. Just wads of mashed tuna. I really enjoyed my quick trip to Gogo Ya for dinner! I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki Sushi Tacos, and I could not have asked for a better choice. The price is a little high for 2 small tacos, but I would definitely go back and spend the $20 again easily. I was also full after so I don't think it's ridiculous when you compare it to sushi. The meal comes out quite fast and I didn't have to wait for too long. The only dilemmas with Time Out Market are the seating and noise. There are many large parties that come so you might have to sit between groups on the long style bar tables, which can get loud. I wish there were more private seating options! read more

These sushi tacos are so delicious! Super flavorful, I would definitely recommend getting them at Time Out Market and not ordering them through delivery because the nori shell will get soggy. Getting them fresh is the best, and the fish is nicely seasoned. You can't go wrong with any of the tacos that you choose, but my favorite is the torched salmon teriyaki and the spicy torched hamachi. I've had gogo ya plenty of times in the past in person and via takeout since it first opened in 2019 however one major issue I've noticed with the food is a lack of consistency in taste and quality. It seems the quality of the food changes depending on who is in the kitchen...sometimes it's too salty, sometimes the taco size is much smaller than usual, sometimes the fish is over cooked...I love the concept of Gogo ya, and Gogo ya has great potential.
