I have been looking for a place that serves good tofu soup and I was so pleasantly surprised by their portions for this one, as well as the broth. Their spicy level is actually quite modest here, I thought that 3 would be pretty intense but it wasn't as in-your-face spicy as I expected. Going up to a 5 seems risky though, so I wonder if I go again whether they would find something in the middle for me! Otherwise maybe I'll just be brave enough for a 5... The side dishes/banchan were tasty, not too much vinegar or spice or chili flakes in any of them. They had all my favorites but the potatoes were unexpectedly crunchy or crispy (I'm used to the fully soft preparation), and the cucumber side dish overly drenched in marinade. The radish, kimchi, and bean sprouts were perfect though. Their range of flavors for the soju was good, and the yogurt flavor soju was just the right amount of sweet to dry ratio. The japchae was prepared well, the noodles were cooked properly to a tender texture and the chicken was thin but juicy. The server was friendly and helpful, though was busy with other customers and didn't remember to offer refills until asked. Very tiny issue and not nearly serious enough to dock a star. We got there around 7pm and it wasn't too busy, got seated right away at a table near their bar (so for solo diners you don't have to sit at a table, there is a bar section). Love the cute lighting fixtures, light noise (easy to have a conversation without fighting over the music or other people talking) and the spacious seating. Lots of parking as well in the plaza. Overall I am looking forward to trying the rest of their hot plate dishes next, now that I know their soup is legit. read more

Gogi sits in a good spot surrounded by other businesses, and the vibe inside is casual but comfortable. Ambience is good without trying hard. We were seated right away, and it was neither loud nor crowded. A quick note on price. This is not cheap Korean food, and that is not a complaint. In my experience good Asian food rarely is, and you can taste where the money goes here. I had the beef bulgogi and the yuk gae jang. The bulgogi was amazing. It came out on a sizzling cast iron platter absolutely loaded with thinly sliced beef, mushrooms, onion, and scallion, with sesame seeds on top. Some places bury you in vegetables and hide a few scraps of meat underneath. Not here. It was all meat with the vegetables as a supporting act. Deeply flavorful, sweet and savory with a bit of char from the plate, and tender enough to eat without working at it. The yuk gae jang was also excellent. It arrived volcanically hot and took a hot minute to cool to something I could actually eat, but once it did, this was honestly the best soup I have had in a while. Shredded beef, soybean sprouts, scallion, strands of egg, and a broth with real depth under the heat rather than just chili for its own sake. The banchan deserve their own mention. Kimchi with good crunch and a proper fermented tang, soy glazed potatoes that were tender with a sweet, salty, sesame coating, pickled cucumber that was cool and snappy, crisp white radish cubes that reset your palate between bites, seasoned soybean sprouts with a little chili heat, and a bowl of perfectly cooked rice in a lidded stainless bowl. Nothing on the table felt like an afterthought. Service was solid throughout. Five out of five, and I am already thinking about what to order next time. read more

I had a very nice lunch here and will return. My only real issue was that the lunch offerings on weekends are not as extensive as on weekdays. The lunch I got was HUGE and could easily have fed 2 or even 3 people eating normally. I took a LOT home, and like most foods, it's never as good at home. I had a bulgogi meal, with rice and several side dishes coming first. I could have done with just that-- all were delicious. But later, a huge platter of lovely beef (with mushrooms and scallions) joined the table. What a feast. Good selection of beers although they were out of the one Korean beer they had on tap. read more

I feel in love with Korean food while serving there. For me, the first thing I look for are authentic side dishes; kimchi, pickled veggies, turnips, etc. GoGi scores a 90 in that category. A score of 100 would have been warranted due to the small sizes of the side dishes. It's all you can eat for side dishes but after a while, you get tired of asking. Our server was rather new and that contributed to the deduction. My main dish was the beef bulgogi and scores 100. Cooked to perfection, a very ample portion and served hot. Never had bulgogi with slivered mushrooms but it worked amazingly well. Tasted a few other dishes and each was a standout, especially the chicken teriyaki. read more

Would definitely recommend the seafood pancake as it was LOADED with seafood. Bibimbap was just alright. They must gave rushed the order, because the rice in the bottom was not crispy at all. Loved that banchan came with most of the entree options. Overall, would definitely hit this place up again if I'm craving Korean food - but it is not a must go-to place. read more

KIMCHI JIGGAEEEEE!! Love this place. Good atmosphere, great food, and the perfect amount of spice

Food was awesome!! Can't wait to come back and try more things on the menu!!!!!!!!!!!

All of the food was good! Everything from the side dishes to the main meal. Would recommend.

Went to try out Gogi for a kick on Sunday after church. We were greeted by the Host Pham. She was excited to see us and really gave us a warm greeting which set the mood for our visit. The space is open with plenty of natural light. There are a couple patio tables outside too. The bar area looked decent for that don't need to wait for a table feelin! We decided on the calamari, spring roll appetizers, a kimbap (think fresh veggie sushi) and a seafood pancake (it's giant and delicious), hot stone dolsot bibimbap with teriaki chicken and bulgogi. We had no idea we had ordered a feast. Ryan was eager to answer questions and get us moving. We were surprised by the complimentary house starters of pickled daikon, kimchi, sweet potato, radish, and zucchini (see pics). They were a nice touch to get things moving. Very simple but excellent beginning. We liked the seafood pancake as it was sharable and packed with squid and shrimp. Bibimbap bowls were great, the flavors were well balanced and they let you add the sauce to your own liking. The veggies were either fresh or sautéed so the textures worked well together. As meal preppers on the regular, we took notes! The kimbap was also great and nothing was overly salty. We all felt that trying new things next time would be as exciting as this first visit. After seeing an order of the wings go to a nearby table, we won't miss those again. Great food , atmosphere and service. read more

We're new to town after relocating my niece from Michigan where we have several amazing Korean Restaurants to choose from. We asked a young lady in one of the stores where we were shopping during my visit, and she HIGHLY recommended Gogi Korean Kitchen, so we had to give it a try and boy are we glad we did!! The LA Kalbie is AMAZING! We haven't had Kalbie like this since my Mom (a native Korean) passed away years ago. This restaurant prepares the seasoning as close to my Mom's recipe as I've ever had. The way the meat is grilled is also similar to how she used to cook her version, so to say that this meal reminded me of my Mom is a huge compliment since my Mom was one of the best cooks I've ever known. The style Kalbie was super thin cut in this case and most restaurants I've had it quite a bit thicker, so if you want large chunks of meat, ask for an alternative or see if their LA Kalbie is cut thicker during your visit than it was during mine. I don't mind the thickness being on the thinner side. Believe it or not, it wasn't dry or burnt despite being thin which is a possibility to dry out meat when it's cut thinly like ours was. We also ordered Seafood Pajeong which was incredible. It was perfectly cooked with a nice crisp exterior and perfectly cooked inside. You never want to have seafood that hasn't been properly cooked for obvious reasons. Additionally, we ordered the Kimbap which was yummie. It was bite-sized, unlike some of the restaurants in Michigan where you have to cut one slice into 2 bites because it's impossible to chew if you can even fit one slice into your mouth. Inside the Kimbap were most of the commonly found ingredients but their version is made without imitation crab and without Korean seasoned spinach which are fairly common in the versions we used to make ourselves and that are made by restaurants around Michigan and elsewhere in the US like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Indianapolis, and New Orleans. The 5 Banchan dishes were also excellent - fresh and plentiful for two of us to share. We had Kimchi, Korean seasoned potatoes, fish cakes, Korean cucumber kimchi, and white pickled radish. All were fresh with no strange taste which Kimchi can have sometimes, and there wasn't much left to take home after we were finished stuffing ourselves. Last but not least, the service from our friendly waittress was amazing. She was very attentive and quick with delivery when we asked for things like extra paper napkins or drink refills. I've tried Korean Restaurants in many major cities around the US and we have our favorites in Michigan where I spent most of my life and to be able to compare this restaurant to the best-of-best and put this in my top 3 will hopefully speak volumes about how excellent this restaurant is compared to others. I hope this review is helpful for anyone who might wonder whether this restaurant is worth a try. Prices are quite reasonable, especially for the quality of ingredients which aren't cheap to begin with, and the quantity of what's served. The restaurant itself isn't very large, but it's large enough that it doesn't have a tiny diner feel to it. It leans more toward 'restaurant' vibe but has a quaint aura to it as well. Can't wait to return for our next meal and to bring other family with us! Note that they're closed on Mondays as of the time of this review and they have shutdown to prep for dinner which is fairly typical in late afternoon, so you'll want to verify their hours of operation before heading over. read more

Worst experience at Gogi we have ever had. Normally we enjoy Gogi but tonight it was a terrible experience and we will not be back. The owner was extremely rude. He came inside from sitting out front drinking a beer and smoking, to sit at the bar, turn the TV volume up extremely loud and continue drinking with no regard to the patrons at his restaurant. He then told his kitchen staff to close the restaurant even though it was 8:05 and the restaurant usually closes at 9 on a Sunday. The wait staff was extremely apologetic and I feel bad for them because it seems like this may happen often. It was EXTREMELY unprofessional behavior and we will NOT be back. read more

Better than expected Korean food, per ourselves and the Korean guest in our party of 5, although none of the serving staff or management appear to be Korean. Prices fairly reasonable. Unfortunately, our American server couldn't tell me which of the beers on offer were Korean (Terra is); they also have Soju. The place was almost empty when we were there (the day after Christmas), so not much in the way of ambience. We may or may not go back there, but we don't often eat Korean food, so there's that. read more

This was recommended to me via the Yelp app. Being vegan, that almost never works out because Yelp's recommendations are almost always for places with zero vegan options -- so kudos to the Yelp app algorithm for getting this one right! Our server was VERY helpful in identifying what we could and could not eat on the menu. We really wanted one of the tofu soups, but both were made with animal broth. Hopefully they can change that in the future to vegetable stock so we can enjoy those. We got the Japchae, Tofu Bibimbap and Edamame. Everything was delicious. The server went back and forth to the kitchen several times to ensure what was and was not vegan. We very much appreciated that. The interior decor is very simple, modern and pleasing and tied the whole experience together. Since they have vegan options, it would be very helpful if the menu could note that, making perusing the menu easier as a guest, and saving the server a lot of time! read more

I love Gogi Korean. Without question, this is one of the best Korean places in town. Really good food, service, and atmosphere. When I enjoyed the most is the bulgogi rice bowl. It's a combination of Korean beef, veggies, and rice. I always add an egg on top because it adds even more flavor. Trust me, this is really good and flavorful. Aside from my entree, I like how they bring you small dishes as appetizers. This is usually kimchi, pickled vegetables, sweet potato, etc. To me, those really make the meal. There's a sweet/tangy flavor to some of the pickled vegetables as well. Gogi has become one of my favorites for this type of food. Definitely worth a visit if you are near the mall or just want a great meal. Highly recommended! read more

Great food and service! I do wish they had some cocktails/liquor for the non-beer drinkers.

Located in Knoxville suburb strip mall, Gogi is spacious venue with simple decor, casual atmosphere, reasonable prices, great service, and good food. We ordered: 4*Shrimp Bibimbap: I chose spicy shrimp but they were not really spicy and a bit tough and overcooked. But overall pretty good with crusty rice and mixed vegetables. 4*Spicy Soft Tofu Stew with Galbi Combo: tofu was soft, Galbi was tender and delicious. Five small side dishes were served before the meal. read more

I got to try this place this week over lunch with some work friends - giving a strong 4/5 overall: +1.25 - food and drink +0.75 - parking and location +1 - venue and look inside +0.50 - staff and service +0.50 - cleanliness inside and restrooms The Beef combo Pho bowl was my fave that i got to try for a main portion; the calamari was the tastiest treat we got for sure. Most came out to temperature and preference; we had a couple small garnishes or sides that were either smaller or not available - despite that it was still good! Getting here for lunch and dinner will be a little bit of a challenge in the core of Kingston pike traffic; just make sure to put the directions in before you head over to find the best way there. Will be back! read more

Was excited to see this place pop up on Yelp while I was sitting still stuck in Knoxville traffic, so I decided to exit and try it. The bulgogi was good! It's quite a bit sweeter (more like teriyaki) than what I'm used to being served at other Korean places, but it was tasty and a huge portion. The side dishes were good. Excellent kimchi. The service was quick and attentive, and it's right off the interstate with a lot of parking. I'll be back next time I'm in town. read more

I've had this place on my radar for quite some time and finally got a chance to try it out. It's nicely decorated, well kept, and clean. It seemed pretty busy, but service was good. After ordering our food, the server brought out some appetizers or starters (side dishes) - kimchi, pickles, pickled cucumbers, rice and potatoes. They were just ok for me. The main attraction are their entrees. I had the bulgogi bimibop combo and it was fantastic. The only thing that was a turn off for me was how much seaweed or fish flakes they sprinkled on top. Other than that, it was pretty good. Everyone else I dined with liked their plates as well. A tad pricey, to me, compared to other Korean restaurants in town that you can get more bang for your buck at. read more

Gogi Korean Kitchen - Korean Near Me - Knoxville, Tennessee

This is the second time I visited this restaurant. It was about six months ago that I first visited this establishment. I have to admit that the first time wasn't good. Although the services and ambiences are always good, the food was quite bad. Their tofu soup (Sundubu) does not have enough ingredients and the broth doesn't taste like they use real meat broth to cook them. But I always give any restaurant a few chances. So this second time around, they have done some good improvements in the food department. First off, their menu has expanded with a few interesting choices such as the Wings and Seafood pancakes. So I tried them both. The spicy Yangnyeom Wings is their version of sweet and sour and hot wings. The sauce is just right with good tangy taste and viscosity. The skin is crunchy. So it is well prepared. The seafood pancake is also nice and the sauce is a good compliment of the dish. Then to my delights, their Tofu soup has improved a lot with good amount of ingredients this time. So I will come back again and try a few other items on the menu. Good job on improving the food. In the end, it's the food that matters the most to me. So keep it up! read more

Visited this restaurant this Saturday on a whim. When you walk in the door the first thing you notice is the BYOB posting on the front door & second the adorable interior! The restaurant has a great ambiance and the servers are very friendly and helpful. The food we got was good, however I am giving it a 4/5 stars because the chicken was oddly diced in the chicken teriyaki (a bit stringy) & the beef bulgogi didn't blow us away either. The side dishes were good but the bean sprouts didn't have much flavor. Kimchi was A+! read more

Let me start by stating that this restaurant is a gem! The ambiance is bright, welcoming, and the K Pop music/music videos is a whole vibe. It keeps the energy upbeat and positive. The customer service is attentive and friendly. The honey Sriracha wings were suggested by the waiter. They're not spicy. They're crispy and flavorful! I recommend them. If I wasn't in public, I would've licked tf outta my fingers lol. The beef bulgogi is delicious! They don't have Sriracha, but another type of spicy red sauce called Bibimpap sauce (I think that's the name lol) that complements the meal. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant‼ read more

Gogi Korean Kitchen - Great food friendly staff!!! - Korean Near Me - Knoxville, Tennessee

We were introduced to Gogi through a Local Flavor coupon. I really like Korean food and there are very few choices for this genre in Knoxville. The location is convenient, despite the usually full parking lot, and the menu was diverse with fair prices. Upon walking in, literally everything on everyone else's table looked amazing. This was going to be a tough choice. But I went in already knowing that I was going to order a bibimbap of some kind. We were seated promptly in a very friendly atmosphere where there's a long booth along one wall where people sit fairly close together. As an extrovert, I like that. The menu was not confusing and gave plenty of choices. The server was very friendly and kind enough to explain some of the menu to my wife who was having trouble choosing among the delectable looking dishes. I of course ordered the beef bibimbap and opted for the egg on top. My wife ordered a soup of some variety. The food took a few minutes to arrive, but to be fair, they were very busy. The beef bibimbap was absolutely delicious... and the velvety yolk of the egg just took it up another notch. My wife's soup was also delicious. The potions were very generous, and we were able to share with each other and have a good bit of it without depriving the other of their main choice. I would 100% go back. Although, I would probably order an appetizer and share one entree with my wife instead of each getting our own entrees. My wife's only complaint was that the soup was so hot that by the time it cooled down enough to enjoy, I was mostly done with my bowl. Not really a complaint though, we'd rather have hot food than cold. read more

excellent food...very friendly staff. very fairly priced. Every entree ordered was excellent!!

After hearing a new Korean restaurant was opened, we were so excited to try it out. To me, there hasn't been any good Korean restaurant in Knoxville for long time. The previous restaurant at the same location was very pricey and the food tasted ok. But here at Gigi, the banchan (appetizer) was good, just not as the usual eight dishes as what we would always get in Atlanta. We got Cajun chicken wings and they're pretty good! The seafood tofu jigae is the perfect solution for this misty weather. Let's be real we're not in Atlanta so having Gogi around is already a blessing. My friend got the Yukgaejang and she likes it. Our service was good and I'd like to go back to try their bibimbap next time. read more

Pretty good restaurant. I've been here a few times for their lunch specials. I particularly like the Bibimbap bowls. The spicy shrimp one I like the best so far. It's not a lot of food, and I wish there was more actual sauce in the dish instead of them putting the equivalent of a bottle of hot sauce on the table. But the actual ingredients in the dish were good and a nice variety of vegetables along with the shrimp. The complementary mini starter of (pickled/marinated) kimchi, Dakon radish, and I believe eggplant or possibly potatoes was a nice touch. Again, the food is made fresh, and it's hot and tasty, and at lunchtime, the price is very reasonable for what you receive. A good restaurant, worth a try, especially for their lunchtime specials. Nice atmosphere, good service, clean restaurant. read more

Amazing! I wish I would of taken more photos before we scarfed the early stuff down! Everything we had was absolutely incredible! Chicken dumplings and bulgogi egg rolls- both amazing. The egg rolls are quite filling Bibimbops were incredible and so was the la galbi combo added on. Omg the appetizer side things are incredible. 6 different things: kimchi, daikon radish, a pickled something, a kimchi radish and a potato dish were so good and a great surprise.
