Pretty good. I lived in Miami where there were two CM Chicken franchises close by - so I have a pretty good idea of what the chicken is supposed to taste like. The chicken here is definitely good, maybe smaller in size compared to what I'm used too - regardless, flavor and crispiness is basically the same. What I found odd was that the menu was drastically smaller than the ones I've been to in Miami, which would offer other Korean staples like tteokbokki and fish cakes as additional side options. Maybe the Knoxville food scene just doesn't justify carrying those other options. I feel like this locations business is primarily takeout and delivery based since there was basically no other customers inside the physically restaurant dining in. Pricing is pretty crazy though compared to other local fried chicken options. Would not recommend the calamari as it was just average. Definitely recommending to just stick to the chicken if you do go here. read more

Yummy and freshly fried chicken definitely kicked the craving at CM Chicken. Came on a weekday, so inside was quiet with lots of take out orders. We got calamari with the golden curry sauce, wings with garlic soy & red hot pepper sauces. The red hot was very spicy (to me), but had a good flavor. The calamari was a tiny bit under fried so it was lacked some color, but the squid was not overcooked so that was nice. Other things to note- parking is super easy since it's in a plaza. I heard it gets busier on weekends for dine in. For these three items it was $55, so a a bit pricey. Nice treat though! read more

I have been craving Korean fried chicken for ages, so I was happy to see CM Chicken. They know their lane and stick with it - chicken and pretty much only chicken, with a few sides and appetizers. I really enjoyed the flavor of the garlic spicy chicken, and the bites I had of the garlic soy and the curry chicken had good flavor as well. I look forward to trying the chicken with spring onion or snow onion on top. There's only about 4 flavors, but if you do them well I'm a happy camper. I don't know what CM stands for, but I'll say "Craving More Chicken"! read more

I was craving spicy wings and I got it! I ordered the Lunch Special that came with 5 wings, rice, and slaw. I had to order the Shrimp Tempura too. Everything was soooo delicious! I could've ate it all, but tried to save some for later. The restaurant is a casual dining experience with fast service. If you order the bigger portions of chicken, then it'll take a little longer (a guy that ordered before me was asking why I received my food first...ooopppss). I ordered the Spicy Garlic Sauce. It was definitely spicy, but I didn't taste much garlic. I love garlic and want to be able to scare vampires away with my breath! I really wanted to like this spot, but alas, it did not deliver. I will preface by saying that I have had Korean fried chicken in Korea and in California and so I was excited to find a chicken spot here. I placed a pickup order via the phone, and it was seamless. I ordered the drumstick garlic soy instead of the drumstick garlic spicy that my heart was leaning towards, and I ordered curly fries since a reviewer mentioned that they were good. Well, they were both inedible. I hate too much breading on my chicken because of the texture and mouthful. The huge drumsticks and the excessive breading made it difficult to bite. It was soggy and not crunchy. I felt like I was just eating mouthfuls of breading rather than chicken. SMH. The curly fries were a sad excuse for fries. How can fries be so dry and cold? It felt like I was served a week-old fries. To worsen matters, I had to buy radish, which had an off taste. I know what that kind of white daikon radish should taste like, so I was disappointed by its taste. Overall, it was an expensive, for no good reason, visit that I will not repeat. read more

I thought I had reviewed them before, but I don't see it. So this was my second visit. I think the taste is great, but the menu is limited in some ways. I wish they had more of a "dinner combo" type of thing. They do have some lunches, but I was there on a Saturday when they weren't available. Eating their alone makes for a pricey lunch unless you just stick to very simple things. I had the snow chicken, red sauce. Very tasty, a bit spicy, and I would have liked to have something on the side for a cool counter effect, other than beer. The prices shown in the pictures as of this date are incorrect, everything is a couple dollars higher than shown. So having just a small plate of chicken tenders covered with onions, and a beer and a tip, you are looking at a near-$30 bill for a tasty lunch for one. Very often, I even take home leftovers from a hearty lunch, but this was not big enough for that. read more

Found this spot on a whim and I'm so happy I did! Knoxville doesn't have lots of diversity in terms of quality Asian cuisine. This spot does a great job of bridging the gap- it offers a menu that's familiar for any newcomer and offers foods maybe not as familiar to people. There's fried gizzards (yum) and "snow onion" which piles a mound of thinly shaved onion and a sauce on top of hot crispy wings, different from anything I've seen before! The food itself was great. If you're a mild spicy person--this might be spicy for you. I've got a pretty high spice tolerance and this has a great spice level that leaves your lips tingling. Always order a side of pickled radish to cut the spice and oiliness of fried chicken. Everything was served piping hot and the prices are super reasonable for the portion sizes! Spectacular food, the chicken is fresh, perfectly cooked and tossed in a generous amount of sauce. Our server David was quick and nice, which is impressive since he seems to be working the floor alone. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. CM Chicken is a Korean-style fried chicken establishment. It's a simple menu consisting of fried chicken (drumsticks, tenders, or even a whole chicken) in different styles. I had the hot, curry, and original flavors. All of them were very good -- delicious in fact. But, my favorite was the curry because it has a slightly sweet, spicy flavor. The batter used for the fried chicken seems different than "normal" ones you'd see. Perhaps the Korean style uses rice flour or something. In any event, it's quite good. When I ventured in here, I was expecting more of a quick service/take out type of restaurant. It wasn't that. Indeed, most people seemed to be dining in and it was set up like a traditional restaurant with a server taking the orders. Nonetheless, I ordered my take out orders at the cash register and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I used the wait time to run over to Kroger and get a few things. They even have disposable gloves at the table so you won't dirty your hands. Their sauces are tasty, and their lunch portions are just the perfect amount of food. Ordered this for two families so we could try it out. It is very expensive for what you get. The tenders ranged drastically in size, some were average but most were tiny. They were also too spicy for our kids so we had to make them something else. All portions were extremely small. Normally we can order calamari and share, not this time. This is a nice addition to the Farragut food scene. The restaurant is located in the late China Pearl's location. My wife and I recently dined here on a slow Tuesday night. The food was outstanding. We started with the Shrimp Tempura which had a light tempura batter. A soy like sauce went with the dish. The starter was light and delicious. We split the Garlic Spicy Chicken tenders. As explained by the server this is the second hottest dish at the restaurant. The Red Hot Pepper Chicken is the hottest dish they have. The Garlic Spicy Chicken was hot enough for me. The dish was spicy and sweet it was perfectly fried. For the two of us there was more than enough food. The service was excellent. Ambiance could be better, I would like to see more Korean culture, the Korean music was cool so more of that. There's no doubt that CM Chicken has great food. But great food alone doesn't make for a great restaurant. I first called the restaurant to order the lunch special to-go (online ordering was turned off for some reason?). Then, I was informed that the lunch special is for dine-in only. That's not really a problem until you visit and realize that CM Chicken is a "sit-down" restaurant. The lunch special is $9.99, but a drink is not included. If you order a drink (like I did), then you add tax and tip to your order, the meal goes from $9.99 to a whopping $16.00. $16.00 for a lunch portion of food is far too much to spend for fried chicken. With that said, the food was admittedly delicious. Everything was hot, well-seasoned, and satisfying. The Garlic Spicy tenders strike a great balance between sweet and spicy, and the chicken was crispy even after it was coated in sauce. The slaw was a great addition to the plate and served to cool my palate nicely. I wanted to love CM Chicken. I wish I could give it more than 3 stars with a clear conscience. But until they make some changes, there's very little incentive to visit. I look forward to ordering to-go and updating my review based on that experience. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, glad I finally made the trip. Went on a super rainy day and fried chicken just really sounded good. I ordered the garlic honey tenders and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks had substantial cheese pull and the tenders were delicious. Great Korean fried chicken! Super crunchy and flavorful, based on which sauce you choose. My wife had the garlic soy and I had the garlic spicy. The spicy was spicy, but not too much spice. We also order fries, slaw, and rice as sides. The sides are big enough for two so you can easily share them. I would highly recommend getting the rice so that as you eat and gather crunchy bits on your plate along with some of the sauce you can soak all that goodness up with some rice to finish your meal.
