The extra 1/2 star is because they have turnip greens and many places don't. That said, it's more the processed greens than the homemade kind that is thicker and more flavorful. The brisket was mostly good. A little dry and too much fat though. I prefer juicer, lean cuts. This had some nice meaty pieces. But, just didn't completely hit the mark on taste. Overall: I'd come back. It's a good location right in the middle of downtown Loudon. Good vibe and quick service.

Buddy's BBQ breakfast platter was a hearty, satisfying start to the day. The smoked chicken was the…read morestandout--tender, flavorful, and carrying that classic smoky barbecue taste that makes Buddy's such a local favorite. It worked surprisingly well as a breakfast protein and gave the plate more character than the usual sausage or bacon. The biscuits were soft and filling, and the gravy added a rich, comforting touch. Everything came together as a Southern-style breakfast that felt substantial without being overly complicated. If you enjoy barbecue flavors in the morning, the smoked chicken with biscuits and gravy is definitely worth trying.

I stop here for breakfast occasionally, but today was the first time I actually sat down to eat…read more I ordered the breakfast platter with ham and came away with mixed feelings. The eggs (over medium) were cooked perfectly and tasted great, and the biscuit was excellent. The ham was the letdown--I expected something closer to country ham, but it was thin luncheon meat of the kind you'd normally put on a sandwich. The hash rounds looked only partially cooked, so I didn't try them. I also ordered a side of biscuits and gravy, which was fine with no complaints. My bigger issue is their DoorDash policy. A couple of weeks ago my wife and I stopped in while driving to Birmingham. We were already running late. The employee at the counter told us they had only two biscuits left and that more would take about 15 minutes. We changed our order and specifically agreed to take the two remaining biscuits so we could get back on the road. I went out to the truck. A few minutes later my wife texted that she thought our biscuits had been given to a DoorDash order. We ended up waiting about 25 minutes. The same employee then told my wife that DoorDash orders take priority over customers standing at the counter. That policy is ridiculous. What bothered us most was that the employee agreed to give us the two available biscuits and then handed them off without telling us. Had we known that would happen, we would not have placed the order. I generally like their breakfast--especially the biscuits--but the DoorDash policy and the way that situation was handled were extremely disappointing.

The menu is pretty extensive. There are several burger options along with hot dogs and chicken sandwiches. The prices are very good, especially for the baskets which include fries. Oh, and they only take cash so make sure you stop at the ATM before you drop by. When you are ready to order, push the green button. The server answered immediately and read back out order afterwards. Our food came out in about ten minutes. It was served in a bag with lots of ketchup packets as well as some salt packets. There was only one carhop and she was quite busy but greeted us with a smile and made sure we had all we needed. Unfortunately, both burgers were average at best. The double cheeseburger had two thin meat patties which had little to no taste. The veggies were fresh and crisp and the bun was fresh and soft, but the meat simply did not add anything to the sandwich. The Carl's Fat burger was no different. The meat patty was thicker but really did not have much taste. The curly fries and regular fries were pretty good. Both were hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. While they were certainly busy and seem to have a large local following, the burgers were a disappointment. This would be a place to stop for fries, and the milkshakes sounded delicious.

Although they are serving from a food truck, the size of their smokers and quality of the food is comparable to anything I've had in a restaurant. On this occasion I had their 1/4 pound brisket sandwich with potato salad. While they offer a 1/2 pound sandwich, I found the 1/4 pound version to be a very generous portion and quite filling. The brisket itself was juicy and tender and had a perfect peppery bark. The sandwich is served with their house pickles and onions on the side along with a smoky sauce. Together it made for a great texture and mix of flavors. The potato salad was also very good and pairs well with the brisket. The folks running this business were extremely friendly and helpful.
