THE FLAVOR IN THE PIG, flew the Coop! So, I heard through the grapevine that this place wasn't the greatest. So I hadn't tried it. My husband however, on his own reconnaissance decided to surprise me Tuesday night , by bringing home dinner. He went to this establishment and purchased pork and ribs. Along with the meat he also had two different containers of BBQ sauce. When I asked where he got it from I tried my best to not look disappointed. I opened the container of pork and could see right away that it was DRY! I typically don't use sauce, but I added it anyway to moisten the meat. After a few minutes of attempting to chew and swallow the ball of dried pork, I spit it out in the trash. It was not only dry but had ZERO flavor. I then tried the ribs. They were moist and cooked perfectly, but again, NO FLAVOR! Wondering if they have something against seasoning the meat. It's the thought that counts on the surprise dinner, but definitely would NOT advise going to The Flying Pig for their alleged BBQ meat. The BBQ sauce was great! read more

We went here for the first time today mainly from reading the reviews. My wife ordered the baked potato with pulled pork on top. It was massive and came with homemade BBQ sauce on the side. She enjoyed it and had plenty to take home. My experience was different. I ordered the 3 piece rib entree with baked beans and cole slaw. Again, the offering was huge. 3 large ribs and good side portions. Baked beans were delicious and cole slaw was refreshing. My issue came with the ribs which looked and tasted like they were boiled. No smokey flavor at all. They were on the fatty side and far from fall off the bone. I'd have left them on the Smoker for at least a few more hours. Anyway, take what you will from my mixed review and better luck to you. read more

We walked in for the very first time . We were dining in , they only have one menu and it's taped down to the order counter . So look up the menu online . So your repaired . The guy kid was so unmotivated . When I asked if thy had a sample platter , he pointed to the menu and said NO . And they only have brisket one day a week . I got the ribs with 2 sides and a 1/2 pound of pulled pork. With Cole slaw and Mack and cheese . For the amount of food it was a good deal . The meats were tended but pretty unfavorable until you put the necessary sauces . And everything is sold to go in styrofoam to go. No plates , silverware, but for the money it was just ok. read more

while traveling through, I saw flying pig barbecue. I was so looking forward to it mouth was watering from seeing the sign on the highway however, upon entering the restaurant, smell no barbecue. I proceeded to the front and placed an order and asked about the ribs he told me they do not do burnt ears however I can get three ribs after getting my order. I had baked beans and three spare ribs with sweet sauce I proceeded to my car to taste it and it was not to my liking. They need to improve on the sauce and they should not call it barbecue. They should call it boiled because that's what it was. There was no flavor no seasoning no salt very disappointing. in the restaurant there's a company calendar. Two of the employees faces is marked out in black. I took it as a racial slur. He said it was just drama in the workplace. I still took very offensive being a black woman seeing two Caucasian women with black faces. The owner needs to check that and maybe take the calendar down so I will have to give you a one star because that's as low as I can do, but it would be actually a zero disappointing read more

Pulled in 30-40 minutes before closing on a Saturday. My wife and I split a plate of ribs and they were dandy. They were out of one of the sides (note: always a good sign when a BBQ place sells out of items) but the service was prompt and courteous, the place was clean and the food was good. The slaw is the small chop/real mayonaisy type approach. "I 'ain't from around here", but if I was, this would be in my regular rotation. Pricing seemed about right. read more

To the Owner: This experience was ridiculous. Your sign clearly states "Togo only 15 minutes before closing." We arrived 35 minutes before closing, ordered our food, and were then told we had to take it to go because they "don't seat anyone 30 minutes before closing." When we pointed out what the sign said, the worker called over another employee who appeared to be the manager, and he confirmed the same -- even though it directly went against your own posted policy. We also explained that we had an hour-long drive ahead, but they simply said, "Yeah, sorry." That's $40 you lost and two customers who won't be returning. I've purchased their pulled pork and bsled beans for years. Their beans, in my opinion was the best around. Had lots of pulled pork in it with just the right amount of sauce. In quit buying their pulled pork because it was bland and chopped up like it went through food processor. Monday I purchased their baked beans, and they were just like Bush's beans with lots of bbq sauce dumped in. NO meat whatsoever. Flying Pig won't see anymore of my business. Their feature is a stuffed baked potato with either pork or chicken, sauce is on the side--go for the hot. Not that much heat but spicy. The meat is well smoked but tender. First they serve Pepsi products, which should have been the first red flag. The brisket was fatty and undercooked.
