Stopped at this local joint for an early dinner. The prices were reasonable and the restaurant was packed. Got a 1 pound brisket, green beans and 2 pork sandwiches. The pork sandwiches for my grandparents were great! The brisket was okay. It wasn't my favorite and I don't think I would be back. I'm from Texas so the similarities were poor, to say the least. The green beans were bland and the BBQ sauce just really wasn't that great. Overall, I was left disappointed and probably won't return.

Decided to stop in for dinner with the family since we haven't been to a Buddy's in a few years. Unfortunately, the quality and service has changed for the worse. We walked into no one in line. Behind the counter, I counted 7 people and then one lady out in the dining room leaning against the trash can. The lady who was running the front register was bagging a large call in order, which was fine until I ended up waiting for 12 minutes to order. While waiting this ridiculous amount of time, I watched 3 of the others work drive thru, which totaled 2 cars in those 12 minutes, and then another 3 people standing around not doing anything. For the food, both the wife and I both agreed that the pork on the sandwich was bland with no taste, but even worse, it was extremely dry even when adding extra bbq sauce. It was obvious that the pork was not fresh, nor did it taste as if it was smoked on site like it used to be. I will admit that the bbq beans were really good and were the highlight of my meal. Another disclaimer I would make would be not to waste your money on the kids' pork sandwich as it may be the size of a silver dollar if you're lucky. The sandwich and the fries were enough for our four year old, but I can't see it being enough for an older child.

Tender juicy BBQ chicken and wings! Hush puppies are the bomb... simple quality ingredients! Yummy

Brisket

Got the brisket. Big mistake. It was thin cut, like you'd get at a deli. Not thick cut like most places. No fat content. No flavor. I had to slather it with their average bbq sauce to make it edible. The potato salad was ok. Nothing close to Rudy's BBQ in Texas - which would be a comparable place. Why aren't there any good restaurants here? The mediocre far out-weigh the average.

This was disgusting!

This has to be the worst bbq restaurant I have been to. I was visiting family in Knoxville this week and decided to come here based off of feedback. The other conflict is the employee Ann is a 5 star but everything else was horrible. I had the rib dinner and 5 wings. Ribs- horrible not fresh at all and no meat at all. These are an embarrassment to ribs Sides- coleslaw not fresh either horrible! -potato salad 4 star only bcuz it was the best thing to eat but probably came out of a container. Wings 2 star ordered them hot and all they came out with was fried. Service was a joke! Ordered my food and they got it wrong 3 times and even my aunt had to argue with them about her food as well. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone....maybe at one point this place had roots to BBQ but they have traded quality for profit. You would be better going anywhere but here.

Consistency is key. Love the wings, pulled chicken and pulled pork. Ribs not so much. I love their Cole slaw and hush puppies.

I have always loved Buddy's, however the ribs are getting to be dry and cooked too long. Tried the chicken and it was much better!

Very clean restaurant with military theme. The owners and operators are super friendly and kind. We ordered from the menu and found a seat. Self serve drinks which I love. They make all their sauces in house so it was hard to choose when ordering. The bbq was very good and came without sauce so you can add as much as you would like. They indicated a website will be in the works.. which I love knowing a menu before visiting. They also may eventually sell their sauces. Only two things I hope to see from this restaurant -more customer access to sauces. So either a sauce station or bottles at each table. I had a hard time deciding between all the amazing sounding ones. - a white or chalkboard menu board with specials. I loved the screen with specials but it went to fast when you are a slow reader.

We arrived at 5, when the gates were supposed to open, in hopes of getting a good place to set our chair only to stand there until 6:10 in a line that wrapped around the parking lot. Also discovered you can arrive early in the morning and place a chair and then at some point they lock the area down for show prep. Since they stacked everyone coming to the show in the lot when they opened the gates is was more like a jail break. There was only one source for food, theirs, since no outside venders were on sight. The people selling/serving worked hard but it was never designed to handle so many at once. Potra-potty availability was limited compared to previous years. Summary, band great, hour + late opening gates, all good seat spots taken, line for food was long/slow/dry food, no other food vendors, limited bathrooms and the line for BS memorabilia was worse than the food line. Probably our last trip for a few years. Seems having a good band, and really nice customers, means you don't have to try anymore.

That said, their chicken wing rub was very sweet and I was expecting a spicy rub. The pork ribs were good. The bologna tasted like hotdogs honestly. The sourdough bread wasn't really sour, it just tasted like regular white bread. Of the sauces, our favorites were Tennessee Red and Spicy mixed together; and we found that by mixing them together, it tasted closer to what we were used to. They still had a bit of an aftertaste that we couldn't quite place. I loved their cute store and their service was amazing! I told them about my egg allergy while ordering and was promised everything would be egg free. We had gotten the bacon burger with sauce that looked very similar to thousand island dressing, and the restaurant made it right by making us a brand new one, while profusely apologizing. We understand that there may be a little bit of cross-contamination, but the dressing on the burger was more than cross-contamination. The lady who took our order told us there was nothing on the burger except for burger, bacon and cheese, and then asked if I wanted lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles on the side. I asked specifically about the condiments and she said they don't put any condiments on their burgers. The bathrooms and store overall were very clean and very well kept. It felt like good small town America. If it weren't for the egg allergy sauce mixup, they would've gotten four stars.

It is owned and run by mom, dad and son and the fact they went from food truck to brick and mortar makes them super heroes. The restaurant is small, but very clean and organized. Raven (the Mom )told me they are already working out to have a family friendly bar in the vacant store next to them. The menu has that unique food truck feeling, but with bigger portions. I tried the Famous meatloaf. It was moist and they put their own homade barbque sauce on top. It was offered with two sides and cornbread. I chose the smoked mixed vegetables, which I didn't care for. They were overcooked and under seasoned, but the fried onion rings which were hand batter with a seasoned light coating made me forget the vegetables. My wife got the burnt briskets ends and they were delicious. Her two sides were the smoked macaroni and cheese and fried okra. The Mac and Cheese was definitely Sunday dinner after church deliciousness. The Okra was not frozen but breaded with the same as the onion rings and were crisp full of flavor. The cornbread was a little dense, but really flavorful. Our favorite was the smoked chicken wings which were Smokey tender with crispy skin. They have different sauces and we tried everyone. The sauces all were a different taste, but equally perfect. I guess if I had to pick the best it would have to be their sweet house barbecue sauce. For dessert there are daily new choices and more to come. We chose the rocky road Thai rolled ice-cream which the prepare it for you right before you. The calendar is on the web page. But why chase bad BBQ. This wood pellet (Traeger) grill smoked BBQ is dry. The smoke flavor is light to the point of being almost non-existent. The rub is okay, but when a brisket is this dry it's just not worth eating. The other meats are okay. The pork is probably the best thing, and it's just good not great. The ribs were okay too. The sides are about the only reason this has two stars instead of one. The mac and cheese is tasty and well made. The beans are good. Look, I don't write any reviews less than three stars and few less than four stars unless I have visited a place multiple times. Any place can have an off day, and I hate giving lower reviews to small businesses. But this is just NOT good BBQ. And, yes, I know a bit about BBQ, with deep roots in Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Italy. I've cooked many briskets. Many. With wood. Cooked many pork butts and ribs. Tons. And so has my family (I have two relatives in the Dallas area who cater BBQ). So, this is not an area where I have no experience. Oh, and don't snicker at Italy in the list. How did your whole goat cooked in a dirt pit turn out? How about that whole pig you cooked? Yeah. Thought so. Sorry, Lloyd's. This is not great stuff. Dang. I wish it were.

I especially want to try the pork belly bites, but those are only on Fridays. I ordered the most popular dish, the gomer. I asked what the freshest meat was because the reviews varied. Many stated that there was a lot of dry meats, others report tender and perfect. My suggestion if you don't want to be disappointed is to ask what is the freshest for that moment in time. Pork was it today and it was delicious. I think next time I would rather get the meat plate as all the sides piled onto the pork was a bit over the top for me. I wanted to taste each item they have separately, but it was challenging being piled together. But that is what I get for picking the popular item and not what I think I would enjoy more. Gomer was $12. I see the cost has gone from $10, then $11 and now $12. I would not be willing to pay more than $12 but I understand the cost of food has gone up. Curious why the nacho is $16. If I understand correctly it is just the gomer with chips and cheese. I don't think that is worth $4 more. Maybe the quantity is more too??? Overall, I am happy with my first trip to Lloyd's and looking forward to pork belly bites in my future.
