1/2 slab ribs, pulled chicken beans and Mac n cheese
Elizabeth S.

The food was hands down the best bbq we have ever had. The ribs fell off the bone and the brisket melted in your mouth. Everyone loved their bbq sauce and the Mac n cheese was phenomenal. The owners were so sweet. Loved the feel of the place being an old gas station.

If you're looking to support a local family-owned small business with conservative values and wonderful, homemade food made with love in a unpretentious setting look no further. My hubby and his work crew have gone here many times for lunch during the week. The lines can be long during lunch (because it's so good), so plan ahead, but it's worth it. Prices are pretty reasonable overall and the food is worth the 40 minute drive from our house for dinner. The husband and wife team running it are freaking awesome. The love their customers and their community and you can tell the community loves them. I look forward to coming back and supporting a business with values that match our family's values.

Don't be fooled by the exterior look of this place!! The BBQ here is absolutely delicious!! I can't say enough about how good the ribs are! I was also very impressed by the potato salad!! I'm not even a potato salad fan but this was great! The service was great!!

wow so they were sold out of the ribs when I arrived so I got a pulled pork sandwich and it was amazing! And then the owner ended up carrying in about 10 slabs of ribs and they looked perfect highly recommend

Great BBQ experience! Stopped here for lunch while traveling through the area. Got the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches, and was lucky enough since it was a Thursday, to get some banana pudding to go. Great table service by the owner's. And yes, this is a side of the road BBQ Shack/"hole in the wall" kind of place, with great food!

HOLY PORK. We were looking forward to stopping in Knox for BBQ on our way to Asheville. After sifting through a few choices we decided on Love That BBQ. I think we made the right choice. The owner was friendly and happy to make suggestions. The atmosphere was exactly what you would expect from a place that makes good bbq. It's clear they care more about their food than their ambiance, which is fine by me! We had brisket and ribs, with coleslaw, tator salad, beans and hush puppies. I'm hungry just recalling it. The only disappointment was that they only have banana pudding Tuesdays and Thursdays and we stopped on a Wednesday. Stop by Love That and you for sure won't be disappointed, it's plain to see why it's the highest rated bbq in town.

I loved discovering Love That BBQ during an introduction to an area of Knoxville I wasn't yet familiar with. Walking in, I loved the authentic feel. It was Wednesday lunchtime, but not overly busy. The menu had the perfect amount of options -- enough to satisfy any craving, but not too many that I couldn't make up my mind (yes, it's a thing lol). I went with the BBQ sandwich and two sides meal -- baked beans and hush puppies. The hush puppies were awesome. If you like garlic, you'll love these. For sure, hush puppies will be something I get every time. The BBQ sandwich was great, I added the hot BBQ sauce. I can't wait to have the brisket next time... the owner (super friendly and personable), was kind enough to give me a little taste. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. I'm looking forward to my return visit. I'll also keep this place in mind when I host a dinner/party and need a crowd-pleaser without doing the cooking myself. FIVE STARS!

First of all, be prepared to search for parking but I found a parking garage about a block away. I walked in and was greeted by a very friendly bartender who made a good bit of conversation with me. I appreciated that and he recommended the wings. I wish I had taken him up on the wings. More on that in a moment. I felt like pulled pork though so I went with the sandwich and Chipotle mac and cheese. The pulled pork was tender, seasoned well, and went well with all the sauces. I never had Chipotle mac and cheese as it was a little spicy but oh so creamy and cheesy! There are 4 sauces - 3 on the table that are tomato base (mild, Chipotle, and Habanero) and the Alabama white you have to request. The Alabama White was my favorite as it was very black peppery. And that is why I should have taken the bartender up on the wings because that sauce with the wings would have been amazing. The other 3 sauces were thick and rich. My sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! Very good BBQ overall though it is limited and pricey and worth a visit to downtown Knoxville.

We had heard of this place for a while and wanted to check it out and we're so glad we did. The food and service were amazing. Walking in it's a narrow restaurant, that has a bar on one side and tables on the other with kinda a rustic feel to it. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken. Since we hadn't been there before we got water and then pursued the menu a little for drinks. I had a question between two drinks and the server was very good at describing the drinks and ultimately decided to try the Darryl Strawberry, while my husband got the Nor'easter. The drinks came out and they were really good. They weren't overly strong, you could taste the bourbon in each of them, but it wasn't overpowering. For food we got the OPA! to start and then the Billy for me and the Mother Clucker for him. The OPA was awesome. It's pan seared feta with honey and served with fresh bread. The honey added a little extra sweetness to the feta which went really nicely with the crusty bread. The Billy had goat cheese, bacon, onions and, a tomato jam on it. It was delicious. The creamy goat cheese with the bacon and smokey tomato jam all went amazingly together. I got onion rings as my side, which were crunchy hot and so so good. The Mother Clucker was also really good. I only had a bite of it to try, but was definitely impressed. My husband upgraded to the duck fat fries which were out of this world. Super crunchy, great flavor. Our server kept checking back on us the whole time making sure we were satisfied with our drinks and food, but we had absolutely no complaints. This is a great place for a date if you want good food or to hang out with friends. We will definitely be back.

The calendar is on the web page. But why chase bad BBQ. This wood pellet (Traeger) grill smoked BBQ is dry. The smoke flavor is light to the point of being almost non-existent. The rub is okay, but when a brisket is this dry it's just not worth eating. The other meats are okay. The pork is probably the best thing, and it's just good not great. The ribs were okay too. The sides are about the only reason this has two stars instead of one. The mac and cheese is tasty and well made. The beans are good. Look, I don't write any reviews less than three stars and few less than four stars unless I have visited a place multiple times. Any place can have an off day, and I hate giving lower reviews to small businesses. But this is just NOT good BBQ. And so has my family (I have two relatives in the Dallas area who cater BBQ). So, this is not an area where I have no experience. Oh, and don't snicker at Italy in the list. How did your whole goat cooked in a dirt pit turn out? How about that whole pig you cooked? Yeah. Thought so. Sorry, Lloyd's. This is not great stuff. Dang. I wish it were.

I especially want to try the pork belly bites, but those are only on Fridays. I ordered the most popular dish, the gomer. I asked what the freshest meat was because the reviews varied. Many stated that there was a lot of dry meats, others report tender and perfect. My suggestion if you don't want to be disappointed is to ask what is the freshest for that moment in time. Pork was it today and it was delicious. I think next time I would rather get the meat plate as all the sides piled onto the pork was a bit over the top for me. I wanted to taste each item they have separately, but it was challenging being piled together. But that is what I get for picking the popular item and not what I think I would enjoy more. Gomer was $12. I see the cost has gone from $10, then $11 and now $12. I would not be willing to pay more than $12 but I understand the cost of food has gone up. Curious why the nacho is $16. If I understand correctly it is just the gomer with chips and cheese. I don't think that is worth $4 more. Maybe the quantity is more too??? Overall, I am happy with my first trip to Lloyd's and looking forward to pork belly bites in my future.

I ended up going back up to the window and talking to the employees working and letting them know how great it was. He informed me that the owner is actually from Texas so it makes since he knows how to execute a brisket well. The elotes was good, I've never had it with jalapeños it was different but I wasn't mad about it.
