One of my granddaughter's favorite places so we stopped in for lunch. There were 7 of us which was more than they wanted in a group, but they let Sunday's anyway Food was great. Restaurant is very clean and inviting. We all enjoyed our lunch and would come again!
Decent Korean food if you're craving a few SK classics but not the best option in the game. This place is extremely understaffed, resulting in longer than normal wait times and mediocre service. Our favorites were the kimchi fries, tteokbokki, and "maeun ddak". I especially loved the kimbap and spicy rice cakes as they reminded me of my time as an expat in Korea. I highly recommend this place for takeout if you're craving an authentic Korean meal that isn't too fancy.
Food was absolutely amazing!! Every meat is incredulously juicy and flavorful. The kimbap was kimbapping for real!! I could tell they put love in every dish serving. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and felt like home. I wanted to study there, but it's always so busy ;) Service was amazing and fast. 11/10 would recommend to everyone looking for a cozy, delicious meal with delightful service.
After coming several times during business hours only to find them closed, they were open on my most recent visit! Hallelujah!! You now order at the counter and they bring you the food. My sister and I ordered 2 kimbaps and 1 LA galbi. Pictured is the LA galbi. It was extremely thin and about 1/3 of the portion size they used to serve. This used to be my go to Korean restaurant but with the price increasing to $24 from $18 AND cutting the portion size so drastically, I will not be back. Also, the woman there visibly treated the Asian customers poorly in comparison to the happy, chipper customer service she provided to the older Caucasian customers. Steer clear unless you want to wait a long time, get shitty service, and be overcharged.
We really missed Gogi during the pandemic as they only allowed takeout. We really enjoy sundubu/soondubu at the restaurant so haven't been to Gogi for over a year. We called Gogi tonight and they were open for in-person dining! Yay! We always order soondubu and the flavor was just as rich as before :) I was a bit sad that it was not as hot (temperature) wise. The spiciness was on point. It is such a comforting dish that always makes be feel warm and fuzzy The spicy squid is another favorite. My mom loves this dish and we grew up ordering it at other Korean restaurants. Gogi's is always good. The SAUCE....my goodness is just awesome! We never let that go to waste! But it does look like the portion size shrunk a little and price went up. However we are happy to support local and small businesses, so we do not mind. I am sure many businesses are trying to balance finding a way to recover without increasing prices too much. Plus I'm sure sourcing ingredients is challenge and costs more for them now. Kimbap is basically a Korean rice roll haha and always good :) we generally do not get this but we haven't had Korean food in over a year, so we splurged We don't eat that much so have plenty of leftover of the soondubu and spicy squid to eat with rice for a few days. I will say, the only "sad" thing was the waitress helped us with boxing our leftovers and left a bit of sauce for the squid dish haha Support Gogi :) our waitress was a rock star for handling many tables by herself on a Friday night also and was still very pleasant
NOLA, in my opinion, is still lacking in authentic Korean restaurants. I enjoy Korean food and I am always on the hunt for new Korean options. Gogi is a good option as they have most of the great Korean cuisine. Galbi (short ribs), kimchi stew (boiled kimchi, tofu, and veggies), bibimbap (rice with veggies, protein, and topped with an egg), and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles with veggies) are all popular Korean dishes. Gogi has all these choices and more. I have had the kimchi stew many times and it is very good. While the menu is limited and the service is lacking in friendliness it is still a good choice when in Metairie.
They are definitely taking COVID precautions here. Dine in is reservations only and they're only seating about 4 tables at one time. I think I have officially found my go to spot for Korean food in NOLA after searching for so long. First of all, the banchan is amazing here, especially the potato salad. Thank goodness they're unlimited portions. We had thirds. For apps we had the topoki with cheese and seafood pancake and for entrees we had the bibimbap with beef and tofu soup. Everything came out perfect, fast, flavorful, hot, crispy. I have zero complaints. Portions were big, prices were fair. I highly recommend this place.
Still only OK. I really want to support this business because it is Korean and they serve Korean food. however, I am struggling. First, THREE pieces of cucumbers in the banchan - THREE? That was insulting. There were hardly any bean sprouts, but the kimchi was good. I ordered the chicken bulgogi - basically bulgogi but chicken. It was OK flavor; mainly I was extremely disappointed with the banchan. Koreans know that banchan is really the main dish. I will probably not visit this restaurant again, unfortunately.
I've been craving Korean food lately, specifically Korean fried chicken! So I look on doordash and ordered the kfc, bibimbap, tteokbokki, and a cheese corn this past Sunday 01/30. The food was delivered within an hour, lukewarm/coldish but that's not the restaurant's fault necessarily. ANYWAYS, uh the food was bad. It wasn't anything like what other yelpers had described? Maybe it's better dine in? I thought it was bland and did not remind me of any sort of Korean flavors that I had previously in other cities. Also they didn't have the kfc :( The one thing I found so upsetting was the prices!! Like the cheese corn was a smaller take out container, filled less than 1/2 the way and it was $6. I was joking with my partner that each bite he took was like 75 cents since in total it was a teeny amount of corn. The bibimbap was $18 and very sparse in meat... The other items were not memorable. Yeah this place is a no go. The portions are comically tiny and it's bland.
I seen this place a few times driving around Metairie. The sign is big and calls for attention, so I finally decided to try since I love Asian food so much and haven't had Korean food since I lived back in California. The place is pretty authentic and I was not expecting that, even though it gives out like fast food setting vibes. I like the art on the wall. The service was decently quick. I like their appetizer king mandu dumpling and the chicken wings. What I did not like was the Korean dumplings as they were very mushy on the inside. The Glass Noodles were not good either they were over cooked and took away from the experience. The Spicy Pork Bulgogi was not spicy at all and was not that great of a quality pork meat. I would try again, just to try out the beef bulgogi abs other plates and hope that it was just a bad plate.
Gogi has become my favorite Korean restaurant anywhere. I almost always stop by when I go to the Greater New Orleans area to get my fix of fine Korean dishes. The interior is clean and contemporary, and K-Pop videos are always playing on the big screen TVs. I think the latter is one of my favorite parts of the ambiance. The new menu comes with pictures in addition to descriptions, which is really helpful to those unfamiliar with Korean cuisine. It should be noted that when one orders a meal, one gets a number of small plates of tasty appetizers in advance of the main course. These include their wonderful kimchee, and usually hot pickles, marinated daikon radishes, tofu, etc. These are one of my favorite parts of any meal! What does one order though? This is still an area I'm exploring! The easiest and most approachable dishes is the Bibimbap. This is essentially rice and toppings served in a extremely hot stoneware bowl, so that it sizzles when it comes to your table. The various toppings can be customized or you can order a classic combination of flavors. This is a great meal by itself. Katsu is another favorite. This is a breaded and fried pork or chicken cutlet, which is then sliced into strips and served with rice and sauce on the side. Very approachable for the timid eater! Then there are the Bulgogis, these are traditional Korean BBQ meats. Very tender and flavorful! The Korean-style BBQ ribs are also great, cut very differently from western ribs. Gogi is very easy to find, and just a short distance from I-10. There is ample parking to the rear of the restaurant, so just enter the drive and go behind the building. Service is always quick and friendly, and they are glad to explain menu choices to the uninitiated. So go give Gogi a try, and enjoy some Korean cuisine!
Be sure to GO (GI)ve them a try. Very tasty, great portion sizes, and fair prices. Be sure to call before going, hours vary. What we got: Kimbap: Korean sushi made with a sweeter rice- very refreshing Thuk Poki: Spicy Rice Cakes- by far my favorite dish. The flavor starts sweet then ends with a kick! Ojinguh Bokkeum: Spicy Squid- I loved the taste and the stir fried vegetables in the spicy sauce but the squid was tough Soon Dubu: Soft Tofu Soup- very savory soup but did not find it very spicy. Texture warning- has the consistency of a soft runny egg. Warms your soul!! Quick and flavorful Korean food! #noladelights

I absolutely love this place. Friend girl needed a pick me up and she was bummed she missed out on GNO that past weekend. So I decided to go to her neck of the woods and take her out for dinner. We ordered the gimbap and seafood pancake and they came out steaming hot! I loved every bite. We ordered the bulgogi (not spicy) which had flavor to it but i prefer spicy and some kim chi rice. The Kim Chi rice didn't have much flavor to it but glad we ordered it. She loved it. My fave was the pancake and gimbap, yumz! read more

I'm so sad and dissapointed that i have to give gogi 2 stars because of their portion for the price. I got their kimchi which is supposedly "16" oz for $7.99 was a rip off. They didn't even fill the whole container and it was empty on the sides too. Common Gogi owners that is not fair. If it's 16oz I expect the whole container to be filled. read more

To the best of my knowledge, this place is fairly new. I was surprised to see a Korean place pop up in the area, but also happy to see it there. Went for lunch inside very comprehensive menu of most of the dishes that I'm familiar with. My general go to are the short ribs, but decided to try something different since it was still only lunch. Got the bibimbop with beef and it was very good. Came out sizzling and had excellent flavoring. They also have a tray of different sort of pickled items with kimchi, beans, other things that weren't sure what they were. Again, all super tasty. The person I was with got the same thing, but also got the gyoza appetizer and was very please with it as well. Overall, very good place to try something different for lunch or dinner. It's not the largest venue, so be sure to check availability if there's a large group read more

Out of the three Korean places we have in the area I think this one comes in third place. They still seem to be trying to get up and going and have a lack of servers and lunch is still a very slow crowd. The food is alright but the price is rather steep for what you get. The menu at lunch was a pretty limited selection compared to the other Korean joints in town and the lunch prices were rather expensive for lunch. This place still seems very new and probably still has a lot of work to do to find its optimal niche in the area. read more

This is not the dirty street restaurant you will see in Korea, nor is this the dingy restaurant that is aattached to a grocery that you will see in major cities in the country. This particular building has gone through several restaurants in the last couple of years and nothing has been able to stick. I'm not sure why. Parking is in the rear, then you walk to the front to enter. There is no hostess stand, yet it's not a seat yourself type place. The restrooms are single stalls, and though they have a designation of male and female, I'm not sure how strictly that rule is adhered to. The food has all been good, the ambiance and lighting is kind of romantic. Though you pay a bit extra depending on the meat you want added, the portions of meat are quite small. There is definitely something missing that I can't quite put my finger on though. I'm still looking for what seems off. But, this is a great place to get your toes wet in Korean food. I will be an infrequent visitor here. It is quite enjoyable, but I think it would be better if I could drag a friend or two with me. Their music is quite loud, which is detrimental to listening to my music as I usually do when eating alone (with headphones of course). read more

Updated Review* Let's just say New Orleans now have 3 Korean restaurants, exciting right? I was super stoked to hear Gogi was opening in Metairie. Seat yourself and a server will come take your order. We ordered: *Spicy Pork $17 *Kimchi Jigae $10 They had a lot more of a variety of sides! The purple pickled radish and kimchi are my go-tos! The spicy pork was perfect this time! The meat cuts were thin and the flavors were explosive. We had originally ordered the Soon Dubu Soup, but our waiter thought I said the Kimchi Jigae. No worries, the stew was still very light and delicious! To be honest, the first few visits weren't impressive at all. I'm glad to have given this place another try because it was well worth it! I have only ONE issue and that's having one server. He was waiting and bussing the tables alone, which someone could have helped but what do I know. Also, because you're not cooking your own meat here you won't smell as bad. That's always a plus for me! I would recommend this to anyone willing to try Korean BBQ! read more

I love this place! I went again tonight and had the Korean Kimchi Pancake, delicious!! I also had the KimBap (sp) which looks like a sushi roll, that is so delicious also. I asked for the KimBap with no beef. I was so excited to be given the complimentary appetizers!! OMG I will be back soon!!! Thank you, thank you!!! read more
This is definitely one of the better Korean restaurants if not the best Korean restaurant in New Orleans. The food is very close to home and authentic. I came for lunch and had the Bi Bim Bap and it's one of the best ones I've had. When eating it, make sure not to scrape the bottom of hot clay bowl. It's Korean tradition to save the burnt rice for last! The staff is great and I wanna give a shoutout to Kayla for giving the best service! The only thing I wish they had was the grill for us to BBQ to make the experience more fun. Anh nyoung ha se yo! read more
I appreciate a simple menu. It's straightforward. Side dishes- every single side dish was so so good! I love potatoes. I love their mash potato side. Love. Soy garlic wings - hubby said it was nothing spectacular. I thought these were great! Came out hot! Great flavor. Good kick of spice. They aren't crispy tho. It is a mess to eat. I would order these again. Nachos - ehh. I would prob pass on this the next time. It looks like they put all the ingredients together and nuked it in the microwave. But. The bulogogi on top was so good and tender. Spicy pork bulgogi - awesome! No complaints Beef bulgogi - awesomeee. No complaints. Haha. Great place for big or small groups. Also appreciate the Korean music in the background. The prices are really decent too...for New Orleans standards (there's basically only 3ish restaurants) Great place for lunch or dinner. And very accessible fr veterans or on the street behind because you drive thru to the back to park. We left with completely satisfied bellies! New lunch spot! read more

I went here for dinner tonight and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was. Disclaimer: this place does not have grills to barbecue; everything is cooked in the kitchen. Gogi was previously Sushipop and a lot of the signage hasn't been changed yet... They just opened yesterday but had a good dinner crowd already. The place is pretty small inside. We tried: -Garlic soy sauce chicken wings -Tofu soup with beef -Chicken Katsu -Dolsot bibimbap with chicken -Galbi (one of my favorites, really tender with great flavor) -Seafood pancake -Spicy Korean chicken wings The wings were a bit sticker than I would have liked (maybe too much corn starch?) but I really enjoyed everything else. Our server was super sweet and friendly and told us that they cooks are from LA, which has a huge Korean population. I'll have to come back to try the bulgogi, my usual go-to at Korean restaurants. It's definitely nice to see more of this cuisine coming to Nola. read more
To start off, New Orleans has a very Korean community. Therefore, there are not many Korean restaurants to choose from. However, when this place opened up yesterday, I knew I had to try it out. I love love love love love Korean food! Upon arriving, I was surprised that this place was situated where the old Sushipop was. You walk in and you're not sure if you should sit down or walk to the counter to order, but rest assured, you should sit down and the waitress will get to you. Me and my girlfriend ordered a few items such as garlic soy wings, tofu soup, chicken Katsu and bibimbap. Surprisingly everything was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The sides were awesome and you could request as much as you please. Everyone that worked there was amazing, knowledgeable and very friendly. The prices were very reasonable. I will def be back to try the more traditional Korean fare. read more

Galbi and spicy pork bulgogi was so delicious! The galbi was juicy and tender and the spicy pork bulgogi was super flavorful. The side dishes were also pretty good. Service was meh. After we paid our server just took the checkbook off our table and didn't say thank you or anything. I just find that a bit rude. Even as we were leaving out the door, nothing still! Can't wait to try more items on the menu and hopefully get a "thank you" or "have a nice day" next time. read more

walked in and the interior is so cute!! you could go with a medium sized group or just a few people. they were packed, already had people waiting, yet the server was really nice. it took awhile to to get seated and get our order, but they just opened and were REALLY busy so i'm not complaining. the menu is smaller compared to the other two korean restaurants in the city, but again, they just opened and might expand their menu with more items. the food was really good and well portions. i only had nit-picks. overall this place is great!! i highly recommend!! japchae it was my first time ever trying it, and it was a little too peppery (black pepper) for me. even though it's an appetizer, you can spilt it b/t 4 people! ttoek boki it's spicy, i love it!!! it's also a lot and you could split it b/t 4 people. kimchi jigae it's not as spicy like other korean places i've tried, but it's sour and soo good! beef bibimbap it lacks a little flavor even after you add the sauce, but you just have to add more, very good though! read more

First time going here. Pretty good. I had excellent service but felt bad for the folks that came after me. There was only one couple there when I got there. And then all the sudden the place was PACKED. Unfortunately there were only two waitresses working and probably only a couple people in the back cooking. Think it was taking them a little while to get their food. The bonchon was ok, the galbi was great, seafood pancake was really good, steamed egg I usually like a little more seasame oil and a little saltier, the chicken wings were yummy. Definitely hit the spot read more

Really excited about this new Korean restaurant. After returning from Korea two months ago what we had in the area wasn't really satisfying my cravings. When we walked in we were told to sit wherever we liked and the server took our drink order. The menu is simple and straightforward, but has a good variety to choose from. There was an assortment of banchan that was given to us, the kimchi was definitely my favorite. I like my food a bit spicy so I felt it was tame in the spice area, but it still had a really good flavor. We ordered glass noodles (japchae) and the steamed egg to start. The japchae comes with mixed veggies and we decided to add beef to it. Both were very good to start off the meal. Big enough for 2 people to share. For dinner I ordered the spicy squid and my friend ordered the galbi, each entree comes with a bowl of white rice. I really enjoyed my squid even though it wasn't as spicy as I was hoping for (I enjoy a lot of spice). It had mixed veggies with it as well. The galbi short ribs were just like how Korea's tasted, the marinade for it was just perfect. My friend really appreciated the fact that it was into cut into smaller pieces by the chef, instead of a long piece of Galbi like usual. Andy, our server, was super nice and was able to answer questions about the dishes since this isn't an all you can eat Korean BBQ. Very attentive and quick. This will def be my go to for Korean now that I've found a good spot finally! - Big portions - Great service - Delicious, tasty food read more
This place is pretty good! Our server was nice and attentive enough. There was only one server working when we went, but she got the job done. Food: -kimchi pancake: good and simple. Nothing super special, but I did enjoy it. -chicken wings: I really liked it! We got soy garlic wings, and they came out crispy, juicy, and flavorful. I like the sauce that comes with it too. -kimbap: I think I just don't care for kimbap in general. My boyfriend loves eating kimbap, so he liked it. -bulgolgi: very good and flavorful! The portion was generous, and we had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. -short ribs: my friend told me she loved it, but when we got it, there was just no flavorful. Perhaps we came on a bad day. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back again read more

We spent the weekend in NOLA and got burnt out on the Creole/Cajun scene. Having a pretty vast experience w/ Korean cuisine, I wanted to try something local. Let me sum it up, Gogi Korean Restaurant was FANTASTIC. I. Service: Phenomenal. Our waiter explained the menu to us and was very attentive to our needs. He stopped by more than once to cater to our group of 6. Between the 6 of us, we were only given 1 set of sides (mashed potatoes, bean sprouts, kim chi, dichon, anchovies, and another one i can't think of) and he came back with a 2nd set as soon as he saw this. II. Food: I ordered the LA Galbi (beef short ribs) and the rest of our party ordered beef bulgogi and bibimbap. Everything tasted fantastic and our BBQ orders came with a side of rice ($1.50 for an extra). the Galbi tasted exactly what you would expect from beef short ribs and the bulgogi was the bomb. I ate the LA galbi to myself and found myself quite full after the entire meal. III. Decor: Beautiful inside. They have light Korean music playing in the background but not loud enough to disrupt any conversation you're trying to have. They have table sizes for various party sizes. We sat on a high table and my only issue with the seats were that they were nailed to the floor so you couldn't adjust! Overall: Definitely would come back if I visit NOLA again. I'm from ATL and the asian scene there is top notch. To find such quality Korean food in NOLA was awesome. 10/10 would recommend. read more

If you like Korean food (somewhat authentic) without having to experience traditional Korean barbecue (cooking meats on gas or charcoal grills that built into the dining table), this restaurant is one of the restaurants you want to visit. Some of their food are not spicy enough or has a bit different flavor than I used to. Some of their food also also remind me like home-made style food such as spicy fork bulgogi. They also serve Korean spicy instant ramen noodles. Knowing not many Korean restaurants are in NOLA, this is a good place to eat Korean food. Here are some information: * Service: Only one server during the day and can be hit and miss, but you will receive friendly service once you get the attention. * Parking: Private parking spaces for this establishment and also street parking is available * Food: Recommending Spicy Pork bulgogi. * Avoid ordering hot tea if you can (either barley or corn tea, they charge $2.50 which they normally are free in most Korean restaurants). * Price: They foods are a bit pricier side. * Interior and bathroom: bathrooms are clean and Korean traditional paintings are on the wall read more

One of my go-to favorite places to eat Korean down in New Orleans! I love the Galbi as my favorite meat here as it's very tender and still flavorful in every bite. I also recommend getting the dulboboki- which is thick noodles in a heap of spicy sauce with fish meat! I also loveee the glass noodles here as it isn't dry and you can choose whatever particular meat to have it in there and I recommend putting beef! I also love the tofu soup- and you cannot go wrong with that if you loveeeee spicy! Lastly, I had the chicken katsu- and surprisingly, it was delicious and very comparable to Japanese restaurants chicken katsu! Overall, highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

My expectations were super high because of all the good things I've read about this restaurant. I was disappointed! I ordered two of the appetizers. I got the wings which were the best of the two entrées I also ordered the potstickers. The potstickers have an odd earthy taste to me and I prefer my esteemed but these were Fried. Overall I would not repeat the potstickers. Somehow I got a Waitr change made meal and my waiter brought me out all the sides that you normally get with the entrée. It was nice to be able to use their version of potato salad. It contained corn carrots and peas. It had a sweet flavor. It was very nice. I also very much like the fish cakes they were the best I've had in a Korean restaurant. I was also very fond of the jalapeño Dicon pickled radishes. The rest of theSide dishes I could do without. As an entrée I ordered a bowl of the first soup on the menu. It came out completely flavorless. It was not salty it was not spicy it tasted like tofu in hot water. It was red but had no flavor. I told the waiter I didn't really care for it so he brought it back to the kitchen to get a respliced. They prepare a new bowl brought it out I had two bites and I hated it. It was salty or it was spicier but it still taste of the same. He was kind enough to take it off the check. It showed a great deal of professionalism on his part. I thought the entrées were very pricey for the dinner menu. I did not see the lunch menu but I hear it's a more attractive price point. I don't know that I'll be repeating for supper but I may go back and try lunch. read more
