Just arrived in New Orleans! It's breezy, a little humid & I love it. I'm starving, and of course, my first stop has to be Korean food I'm such a Korean. I decided to try Coco Korean BBQ on Magazine Street. The moment we stepped inside, I had a bit of an uh-oh moment the interior felt pretty dull and a little depressing. The service was decent, though. They served six side dishes, but they were just okay really cold, like they had just come straight from the fridge. We ordered kimchi stew and kalbi, which were good, but the rest of was just so so. Maybe I'm spoiled by the amazing Korean food in the Silicon Valley, but overall, it was just decent. Walked past the restaurant while exploring Magazine St and then doubled back for dinner. We had just gotten happy hour elsewhere so we weren't super hungry but still ended up ordering a lot for variety. For two people, we got the kimchi pancake, bulgogi, and jjajjangmyun or black bean noodles. Side dishes are also varied and most tasted really good. Just personal preference prevented me from enjoying the celery dish. Refills of course. I really craving some fresh vegetables and kimchi. Service was good and food came out pretty quick. The kimchi pancake was big and crispy and bulgogi had some japchae/glass noodles in it which was a nice surprise. The bulgogi came out sizzling. The black bean noodle tasted a little different to what I'm used to but was still good and we dumped our rice in the sauce after. The restaurant is set up for BBQ with the grill at your table if you're interested in trying Korean BBQ. The menu has a lot of legit Korean dishes so I definitely recommend trying everything if you want a good idea or Korean cuisine. read more

The food is not good. It's overpriced for what you get. The quality of the food is bad. Overall I will not recommend this place to anyone.

To start with the service; I am tremendously grateful for them seating a party of eight. I can imagine that assisting so many people can be a lot, and they did it pretty smoothly, save for a few hiccups, but those were all quickly resolved. I LOVE the food here. It's definitely one of my favorite restaurants ever. I typically share a meal with whoever I come with and I love getting beef bulgogi, vegetable bibimbap and Tteokbokki (the best one I've ever tasted. The only place that comes close is surprisingly Trader Joes). The food is plenty and VERY filling. You will not regret giving this restaurant your time of day and money! Korean BBQ on the corner of Philip and Magazine, next to the boutique Peony. Front area is the BBQ section. We ordered the tteokbokki with no add-ons (ramen or cheese), soondubu jjigae with mushrooms, kimchi and rice cake as add-ons ($1.50 for each add-on)and a spicy BBQ chicken. $50.69. The banchans: kimchi, spicy garlic stems, fish cake, bean sprouts, cabbage in soybean paste, pickled onion, radish and jalapeños. The garlic stems, jalapeño/onion/radish and bean sprouts are my favorite. The tteokbokki is nicely seasoned and has a deep gochujang red to it, it's got some good heat, but the rice cakes are too soft and overcooked, not quite mushy, but not chewy enough. The spicy BBQ chicken has a good flavor profile, a sweetness, BBQ and Smokey flavoring all in one, it's different but good. Meat is tender too. The tofu soup is okay, more peppery than I am used to here. Flavor is decent still, just not as I would prefer it, it's not as spicy as I like either. I only found 5 rice cakes and they are super thin too. I have never seen them so thin in my whole life. I dread the add-on costs for the kimchi and the rice, as they are both rather sparse in the soup. The spicy bbq chicken and the banchans are all good here. Skip the tteokbokki. Try the tofu soup, knowing it will taste different than usual. Tax is high here in Louisiana, it's 10.2%. read more

Great option for Korean bbq. The chicken was marinated perfectly and the pork belly was delicious. They don't have any shrimp or seafood option for the grill but they do offer a seafood pancake that satisfies the pescatarian option. Also a really big fan of their fried chicken wings. It's fairly difficult to mess up a Korean bbq place, but they get all the extra stars for service and chill atmosphere. read more

Street parking. Eight table top grills with two grills per table, where you may end up sitting at the same table as another party if you're a small party too. If that made any sense..There are a few regular tables available too where you don't grill your own proteins. Of course the grill tables will require a longer wait time, so be ready for a wait if you don't have reservations. Actually, I'm not even sure if they offer reservations. Food were mediocre. The meat marinades are ok, not the best but probably better than other Korean restaurants in New Orleans. It is on the higher end of cost too. We had the KFC wings and seafood pancake for appetizers and I wasn't a fan of either. The sauce on the wings were too sweet and the pancake was too salty. I'd pass on those. Banchans were also given as standards, also ok tasting. Grill tables can get smokey even with the extender. Service is a hit or miss. read more

We visit this place very often before, it looks like after they've change their name, they changed the seasoning too. But after spending a week eating nothing but Cajun food, we decided to check it out to eat something different during our vacation. Plus, it felt like a breath of fresh air spending some time away from the French Quarter, and allowed us to explore Magazine Street! This place = chef's kiss. So in the past I was dine in here when it was known as Little Korea, and I didn't have a good experience. So I when I heard it reopen under a new name Coco, I decided to give it a second chance. We got Spicy Rice Cakes with Ramen, Kimchi Jjigae, Bibibap and Spicy Fried Chicken. We like the Rice Cakes and Bibibap a lot, flavorful and in a good portions. I wish the Rice Cake could be spicier since I'm the person like spicy food. The Spicy Fried Chicken is in good portion but for us the spicy sauce pretty oily and giving Chinese taste more than Korean. The Kimchi Jjigae was so disappointed, for the price of the Kimchi Jjigae it sadly did not lift up to its expectation. The taste of it doesn't taste familiar to the Kimchi Jjigae I'm used to eating as other Korean restaurants. One more slight detail that they charge you $5 extra for refill extra banchan (side dishes) which many cases the majority of many Korean restaurants do not charge you for extra banchan. No complain from the service side, my waitress was helpful and attentive. read more

We loved it. The sort ribs were amazing. The place was cute. The servers were all very polite and on their game even though they said there had been a family emergency and they were short staffed. Everything was very authentic, and their kimchi was delicious (and I am a bit of a kimchi snob - I like REAL kimchi). No negatives at all. Check the place out. read more

I like to take my nieces and nephews all out once a month and they choose the type of food they want to try and I choose the restaurant. They wanted to try Korean bbq so I decided to give this place a try. Upon arrival the host was meh. But our server was great. She was really attentive and personable. We ordered some marinated pork and some spicy beef to cook on the grill. We also ordered the cheesy ribs , fried rice, and kimchi rice volcano. Everything was amazing. We have never tried Korean BBQ until now. The server was fantastic and they were following all COVID protocols. We were seated immediately. The server offered us the option of cooking the food for ourselves or having the chef cook for us. We chose the latter. We started with pan sautéed pork dumplings and they were so good. We ordered 3 entrees so that we could get a wide variety of the menu. My favorite entree was the BBQ Beef Shortribs. They were sweet and savory with a light crust. The other 2 entrees were the pork belly and a spicy cold noodle entree. They were good too. The chef does spice so well. We will return. read more

So so so nice, but not nearly as good as last Korean restaurant who owned the space. Quality was lesser, meat for grilling wasn't as fresh and felt like it needed sauce after cooked which shouldn't be the case, and they charge extra for a second round of Banchan though we bought three pricey meats to grill. Haven't been charged at literally all other Korean bbq places we frequent for any extra banchan. I wish them well but was too expensive, low value and doesn't stand up to the others or the last place. read more

#yelplove I stopped by Little Korea for takeout They had their full menu available for takeout. It was an easy experience. There was hand sanitizer and you could insert/swipe your own credit card. Staff was great as always and provided a safe experience. Now the food was delicious! Our favorite was the spicy rice cake and ramen noodles. Perfect spice level. The garlic samgyupsal (garlic pork belly) was delicious as well. Our order came with a soup and small sides which we didn't expect but was wonderful. I don't know why Korean BBQ will look like in the future but we should keep supporting our local restaurants! read more

Yummmmm! Randomly popped into this cute storefront for lunch. The $13 lunch special bento we both had were fantastic! The spicy pork ribs were so sweet & juicy and literally falling off the bone tender...with a little kick! My marinated pork shoulder ( Jaeyook) was tender and spicy too! Such a deal. I used to live only 4 blocks from Little Korea and would walk past it every night, my mouth watering at the aromas that emanated. Never tried it till recently because I had checked out the menu and never seen a veggie option. Turns out I was wrong. I tried the veggie bibimbop as take-out and everything was delicious! The egg on top was cooked perfectly and all the little pickled sides were so fun to try. Favorites were the cabbage and bean sprouts, and the fried tofu of course. The sauce that comes with it is smoky, spicy, sweet, and savory all at once... totally unique and a perfect topping for the rice. The prices are mid-range to high--15 pre tax for my meal--but I'd say it is definitely worth a try if you enjoy Asian cuisine. I'm sure I'll go back at some point. Would be fun to dine in. read more

I always drive by here and had the preconception that it would be overpriced for what it is and to pay for the premium magazine street rent. I usually love a good AYCE, but decided to give this a try since this is much closer to me than driving to Metarie, and am glad I did! You can sit at a table with a grill, or they have tables without grills where you can order anything cooked in the kitchen. Every single one of their sides was tasty. Ordered fried rice, miso pork belly and beef bulgogi, and would order everything again. As far as quantity, I left content, not disgustingly full like when I leave AYCE. Splitting two meats and a fried rice between two people, we paid less than to comparable price as AYCE, had left over fried rice to take home, and felt like we got high quality meat- no chewy fat or tendon, everything was very tender and flavorful. The Corn Cheese dish is divine. I would come here and just eat that. This place is pretty decent for Korean bbq but it's not all-you-can eat and it's quite pricey. We got the garlic pork belly and the Gal Bi and I've definitely had better at other kbbq places in Nola. The marinade was a bit off. But the appetizers here are definitely A+. We stumbled across this place when walking up and down Magazine Street. We could smell the amazing aroma from the road as we passed and had to turn around and come back to eat here! The lunch specials are affordable and delicious. We had two items off the lunch menu, the Dolsot Bibimbap Bulgogi and the Bulgogi Lunch Platter. Both were fresh and flavorful! Is it the best KBBQ? Honestly no; Do they have some good food? for sure. It's a great place to get some different combinations of Korean food that other KBBQ doesn't have. It feels weird giving this place 3 stars as I had a nice time with tasty food. However, anyone that has gone to a korean bbq place will understand, this place is simply not worth it. The meats are nothing special and are just on par with every other kbbq place. Mind you, they are still very very tasty, but all kbbq meats are. This place gives you almost no banchan (side dishes) which normally are plentiful at any korean spot. Soju is crazy expensive here, a lot more than other places. The worst thing about this place are the prices. I can pay 21 dollars anywhere else for a seat at an all you can eat kbbq with the same quality meat this place had. Instead, here I paid 21 dollars for a singular plate of brisket. A measly 10-15 paper thin pieces of it. I have gotten more of this brisket when ordering at an all you can eat kbbq place for much much cheaper. I would not recommend anyone to go here. The kbbq spot in Metairie is much better. This place is still delicious, they just seem very skimpy with the free stuff and are very expensive. A single meat costs the same as a seat at an all you can eat kbbq for the SAME quality meat.
