We decided to hit up drag brunch to celebrate my friends wedding and we had a blast!!! Heres what I loved -The process to book a reservation was super easy online. You do have to put down a 20 dollar deposit to hold the reservation. You card will only get charged 20 per person if you DONT show up. -The drag queens accept tips electronically via Venmo or other apps if you don't carry cash. -The staff is friendly and super accommodating -The queens put on a really good show. The day we went there were 4 queens who each performed 2 different sets. -The vibe is great. Everyone is there to have a good time. There were people celebrating 24th birthdays, 50th birthdays and a 80th birthday. I am calling this out because this is a great place to come and have fun with friends of all ages. -Restrooms: They have 3 gender neutral restrooms located in the back of the facility Here's what I didn't like: -the brunch menu is small but mighty (You can review online ahead of time) each meal cost 30bucks and comes with unlimited non alcoholic drinks. Cocktails cost extra. -I ordered eggs Benedict with crab. It also came with a salad. The food was good but needed more seasoning. I had been hearing about this spot for drag brunch and finally got around to checking it out. Godfrey's is a super fun and high energy place! The waiters do a great job keeping the tables hype before the entertainment starts. They take food and drinks orders beforehand. I ordered the Godfrey's club with home fries. For my drink I ordered the frozen drink called "Juicy Wet Lips" and it was really tasty. The club was delicious too but the home fries were a little undercooked. The show was a lot of fun and very entertaining. The performers didn't really dance much but rather they walked the room and lip sync songs. I cannot believe it's taken me so long to go to Drag Brunch at Godfrey's. I have no excuse, it's just never happened. That changed Xmas Eve 2022, when I took my sister to brunch'n'frolic, and discovered thar yes, indeed, Godfrey's deserves its spot on Top Ten lists of best drag venues in the US of A. My sis had never been to a drag show, and when we were watching an ep of HBO's Emmy winning show about drag and being LGBTQ+ allies, We're Here, she said she'd never been to a drag show. Opportunity! We had an absolute blast. Food was great - I had the Chesapeake Benedict, sis did their steak and potato salad - and the Bloody Marys were spicy delightfulness. Coffee was good, too, so bonus! Service was great fun - everyone was fun, funny, and focused on making sure everyone had a great time. Mission accomplished. The show itself was outstanding. All the ladies performed fabulously - of course! - and dollar bills were flying from start to finish. Speaking of which, make sure you bring at least a couple $20s to turn into singles, so you can make it rain for the ladies. It's part of the show, and they are more than worth it! Highly recommend that you take in a drag show at Godfrey's if you visit Richmond. OMG...why haven't I came here SOONER! The show was nonstop amazing & entertaining to say the least. I was there to celebrate a friend's birthday and it did not disappoint. The MC great and all the ladies who put on a show were just awesome. Can't wait to come back & by the end of the show...all the ladies looked like Beyoncé! Good times and good vibes. Attended 11am drag brunch last Sunday with my party of 7. We were seated and the waiter came to take our drink and brunch orders. I appreciated the MC mentioning how the food takes a long time to come because it took VERY long. Many other tables got theirs first and were finished eating by the time we got ours; we got ours well about 70% of the way through the show. It was average tasting, and was not worth $33 (wouldn't have paid that had I known the prices earlier too; they were not on the menu to my knowledge, but I could've not looked in the right spot). Maybe do a buffet style service in the other room that attendees can go to with one flat rate (I attended a drag brunch that did that and enjoyed it much more). The service was not good. Our waiter was negligent and did not come to check on us after initially taking our orders, not even once. He came back at the end of the show an hour later to clear our plates and distribute checks. The other tables' waiter was on top of it and regularly checked in with them. We couldn't even check in on our food because our waiter was nowhere to be found. Then I got the tab which includes automatic gratuity for large parties: that waiter got $13! Without that rule, I would have tipped him hardly anything because of the poor service. I had a few bucks leftover from the show that I gave to the busboy because he was more on top of it to ensure all tables were cleared, and gave us more attention than our server. The queens catered to an old school crowd with song choices that pleased all ages. I did wish for a couple more current songs and the show ran a bit long, but it was still enjoyable because of how talented they were. Definitely a spot to try if you're visiting or live in Richmond. It's a tight space so you need to make a reservation at least 2 weeks in advance. They have two different tip options. You can either get cash when you get there or tip via Venmo. My party chose Venmo but regretted it as it's much more fun and part of the experience to actually tip during each performance. Every lady was wonderful, talented, and fun! If I was rating based of the food I would have done probably a three but you don't go to Godfreys for the food. I went for the first time yesterday for the Drag Brunch for a family member's birthday. What a great time! I'm a 70-something straight female and this was so much fun. The staff and performers were warm and friendly and the atmosphere was very loving and accepting. Even the teasing they did with a few of the customers was pretty gentle. I came to Godfreys for a drag brunch birthday party and had a fantastic time! When I arrived, temperatures were checked at the door which I appreciated. This was a ticketed event. Masks were required upon entry. They sat about 8 to a table and you could have easily ended up at a table with people you may have not known, but we knew everyone at our table. The energy of everyone was great. People seemed to really be enjoying themselves. The drinks were reasonably priced and the food was delicious. The only issue that I had was when the show was over, and it was time to receive our checks it took a very long time for everything to get sorted out right and multiple tables checks were incorrect, but they did fix all the issues. The drag brunch was great, but like I said I went for a special ticketed event so it's likely its different from the ones they usually host. read more

Visited my first drag bunch here a few weeks back. Going forward I'll assume "drag brunches" focus more on the show and not nearly enough on the "brunch/food" aspect. Food: TERRIBLE! Simple as that. I liked nothingggg about it. Very basic. Got the "chicken and waffles - sweet/wet", the wet part being a side of juicy berries. The options were to have it sweet with dry berries on top, sweet&wet, or the savory option which included some type of gravy thrown across it. Really wasn't feeling any of the options. The chicken was playplay, dry chicken breast. Gave me Kid Cusine vibes the waffle was just there, probably frozen. The potatoes were the worst thing on the plate ‍ called "roasted potatoes" but might as well dropped a raw bag of Idahos on the plate. They were just as raw and undercooked! Couldn't do nothing with them. I will give them credit for the drinks though, they were good. So much so I forgot the name of them. They have famous frozen pink drink, majority of us had it. Definitely recommend. The Show: the show was okay and the 3 or so queens that performed were talented, including the host, BUTTTTTTT I was definitely disappointed. Definitely was expecting more diversity, not at all. It was majority all pop; brittney spears, Adele, hairspray/musicals. Not the first hint of Beyoncé or anything more recent. Had fun drinking, but the food alone is enough for me not to return. Maybe if the spice up the show or add different lineups, but for now Godfrey's is a no for me. I understand that it's difficult to feed an entire room full of people -around- a wildly gesticulating drag queen, but even the seating arrangements were a mess this time around, splitting members away from our party in a way that made them feel incredibly left out. OMG, I went to Godfrey's for the first time on Sunday July 7th for the brunch! It was AMAZING!!! The people, the food, the entire atmosphere was wonderful, I felt welcome and loved. Even though I'm straight, I fully support what they are doing. My child presents as non-binary so, she and her partner have been together for 10 years and have lived with me and my husband for at least 7 of those. I love and support them in every way I can. I have wanted to go to Godfrey's for a long time and Sunday they made that dream come true. It was their present to me for my 60th birthday. Sundays are such a DRAG at Godfrey's! Well, that was fun! After seeing Godfrey's on a list of a "Must Try" restaurants in Virginia, a few of us thought we had to check out this place! Drag Brunch? What a great idea! After placing several phone calls, we were finally able to secure a reservation for Sunday Brunch. Do not even think about showing up without one. The menu is a fairly standard brunch menu with bloody marys, mimosas and such. Prices are reasonable and food is fairly good. I had the bacon bloody mary and a crab benedict. Both were quite nice. But let's face it, you are there for show and they put on a great one. 4 performers for three hours of your entertainment pleasure. One of my close med school friends invited me to go along to drag brunch at Godfrey's during one of her final days in Richmond before moving back to California since it was on her bucket list. Fortunately, I had not been either! We made reservations about a week in advance, and the 11AM show was already full so we had to reserve the 2PM showing. They recommend arriving around 1:45PM for the 2PM show, and you basically wait indoors in a "holding room" while they set up the dining/show area, then are admitted party by party (they will call out the name of the person whose name the reservation is under). While you are waiting, it is a good time to get larger bills exchanged for $1 bills, which you will need for tipping during the show. I later regretted not exchanging my $20 bill since I only had three ones in my wallet; fortunately, someone else in our party later broke a $20 for the table. They also have a quick set of announcements/house rules prior to admission. The actual dining room was a lot smaller than I thought it would be, which explains the need for reservations. You have a few minutes to look over the menu and place drink/food orders before the show begins. Before the first performer, the host (forgot his name, but he was one of the co-owners of Godfrey's) sized up the crowd a bit with some pointed humor. He also spoke in between each of the acts, and by the end of the event, pretty much every table had been singled out and picked on. I was actually surprised at how little we were called on, but the most memorable comment was referring to us as "foreign exchange students" since we were a table of six Asians. There were four drag performers in total, who took turns performing various numbers while dancing/strutting up and down the halls, collecting tips as they went along. Needless to say, the costumes were quite fabulous, and the drag queens downright feisty. Overall, it was a very fun and enjoyable 2+ hours. In terms of service, we were waited on by the comparatively younger one of the three servers, a pretty cute guy named Michael. He was super smiley and friendly throughout the meal, as well as very attentive. He was great and took a group photo for our table, throwing some shade in jest in the process. ;) As for the food, it was pretty mediocre. I ordered the crab Chesapeake, an eggs benedict dish. The eggs were not as runny as I would have liked, the hollandaise was not too flavorful or rich, and the crab meat (although real) was this strange brownish color. Also, one of my English muffin pieces was pretty tough and hard to cut through with a knife. The dish came served with a side salad of greens, which was decent. I also ordered a fruit/yogurt/granola dish on the side, thinking I would need more food since some Yelpers mentioned small portions and I was starving considering this was such a late lunch. The yogurt and granola dish was actually a pretty generous portion for $6, and was actually the better of my two dishes. As others have mentioned, they don't split checks but you can pay with multiple cards/a mix of cards and cash. It's definitely worth experiencing this drag brunch in Richmond, but come for the entertainment not the food! read more
