Scheduled a tour with the principal, Mrs. Nguyen, in May & my kiddos joined Hope's 1st & 5th grade this August. First impressions on arrival is: secure, fully-gated campus - no visitors can walk onto campus without the code or calling into the office. The staff are all very professional and personable from the Administration all the way to the after-school care team. Academics are in par with what we were doing at the previous institution. Hope focuses on each single child's unique learning experience & development. Teachers are extremely supportive & encouraging while holding the kids to a higher standard of accountability. Pros: - Strong PTL and parent participation - Small Class Size - Individualized Curriculum - Secure Campus Access - Daily Catering Hot Lunch for purchase - Teachers & Staff are all welcoming Cons: - No Gymnasium/MPR

After 2 months I made the decision to pull my kids out. My son was hit with a hydro flask intentionally in the eye. There was kids that witnessed the incident. We were told by both principal and vice principal that everyone involved and the witnesses would be spoken to. They didn't speak to any of the witnesses! There wasn't any consequences for that student (it's all about who you know at the school and you get away with bad behavior). Academics are mediocre. Principal will tell You what you want to hear to enroll you and take your money. Beware your child's safety is NOT there concern (if your family works at the school that's when your child is safe even if you're the one doing the harm).

When my first child went to that school, the PTA was amazing and we still talked to them all but my second child's PTA has the worst. It's sad because it makes a great school. Look like crap.

Also, she restricted my son from a trick or treating field trip and tried to restrict him from another field trip. However, I spoke to the district, and this is not allowed. Field trips are educational and therefore a part of the curriculum not to be used as reward or punishment. Thankfully, my son has moved on. But, I walked past her class today and she called out to the first graders, "Come on guys, we're talking about going to the Fair here!", obviously employing the same tactics. BURNOUT!

I don't understand why the teacher & secertary are so rude to parents? Maybe they have been teaching too long and are just waiting to retire. I can't believe how this lady goes out of her way to make you feel unwelcome at her school. Hounding us about rental agreement, copy of drivers license, affidavit from our landlord. She basically made her secretary tell us if we are missing any of these items, our children will be unregistered. This all had to be done within only 1 week notice. My son had perfect attendance. We participated in all school activities. Maybe if we had blonde hair and blue eyes, we still would be going Sutherland. What's funny is that we didn't submit any of those forms they were asking. The first day of school, Sutherland calls me ask why my kids didn't show up on their first day of school! Are u kidding me?! They now go to an even better 10/10 ranking school that welcomed my kids with open arms. They have the upmost nicest staff that cares unlike Mrs. Acevedo and her secretary. You reap what you sew. I guess Sutherland misses out on 2 students to their funding. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

It boggles my mind why the teachers never told us. My son was afraid, and was not comfortable telling us until the summer ended. I have a hard time believing that the teachers didn't see anything. It seems to me that continuing to collect money from all parents is more important than keeping kids safe here. This school has demonstrated that they will not keep your children safe. If you want your kids to be safe, try exploring other places. This is step one of trying to figure out what happened, and I hope the leadership here reaches out to me because this will not end here.
