Review for Sandburg Middle School Our family has lived in…read moreGlendora since 1996, and we truly love this community. My husband served as a local pastor for many years, and I spent three decades as an educator, including teaching in nearby Azusa. Our five daughters grew up here, so our family has deep roots and friendships throughout Glendora. Today I am a grandmother, and two of my grandchildren attend Sandburg Middle School. We appreciate the many teachers and staff who work hard every day to support students. Our family does face some health challenges. My grandchildren live with autoimmune conditions that sometimes cause physical pain and emotional strain, and their mother -- a dedicated social worker -- manages lupus and fibromyalgia while continuing to work full time and care for her children. Because of this, occasional issues with absences or timing can arise. One small example happened this morning when my daughter arrived just one minute late turning in a required form. The immediate response from the front office was "no exceptions." Several minutes were spent explaining the rule, when perhaps those same few minutes could have been used to help find a solution -- such as assisting with submitting the form to the staff in the gymnasium. Policies are important, but so is the tone in which they are delivered. A moment of empathy and problem-solving can make a tremendous difference for families navigating health challenges or difficult circumstances. As a retired educator who worked closely with the Los Angeles County Office of Education, I have seen how impactful empathy training and family-centered leadership can be. My hope is that Glendora Unified School District continues to strengthen training for staff and administrators in areas such as empathy, cultural awareness, and understanding the mental and physical health realities many families face today. Glendora is a wonderful community, and with continued growth in these areas, our schools can reflect the same care, flexibility, and support that make this city such a special place for families.

During those years I had severe asthma and weighed about 90 pound. another student attacked me and I was compelled to defend myself. Both of use were sent to the vice principal for fighting. The vice principal Gadel hit both of us with a large wooden paddle leaving welts. On another occasion I witnessed a gym coach Moses grab another students penis in the locker room and said " let me help you with that ". These experiences negatively affected me throughout my remaining school years. I did not want to participate in any school activities I just wanted out. i'm going to be completely brutally honest, I have attended school recently, but not super recently…read moreand I've decided to write a review about my time because of the stories I've been hearing about the school and it looks like it's not getting any better. Let me start off with the staff most of the teachers have a good learning experience, although some may be a little too strict they still teach really good now the counselors are OK. I never had a problem with them now the vice principal is an absolute liar. I had gotten in trouble and she had lied and over, exaggerated the problem way more than it ever was. She doesn't believe the students when they are telling a story. She likes to think that she knows exactly what happened even if she wasn't even there, but when someone snitches on someone she'll believe the person that snitches even though it could be fake and doesn't even let the other person talk clearly rude to the and picks favorites and if you're not her favorite, then you're in for a long two years of your life now with student life mostly good. A lot of people are nice, but there's definitely a lot of wannabe gang bangers, which is normal in every school. There's definitely and again with the vice principal when it comes to bullying if the person that bullied someone and then goes to the office and says something she will believe the person that was doing the bullying even if they're making up a whole different doesn't go off of other people stories. She goes off of the make up in her head and the promotion too high F and you can't I get but the citizenship thing is a little excessive because what if my has a hard time focusing some of the look at focus as part of their citizenship grade and just because my son or daughter has a hard time focusing they don't get to promote which I think is odd and I don't think that's good. I think they should have the citizenship so you as a parent know how your is doing in class, but I don't think it should affect the way that you promote unless you everyone's learning experience and the two ladies that are in the front of the office. They are very rude. I don't know if they still work there but when I was there, they were really rude. I'd like to end off to say that the vice principal which I'm 99% sure that still works there makes everyone's learning environment harder and she's the stem of many of the problems at Royal Oak middle school
