First time going in since my regular dude at ChinG was booked and I really needed a cut so I decided to try this place with its great reviews. Should have just waited for the Director at 7pm instead of being given a n00b at 5pm. Didn't get the name of the guy, tall, glasses, very soft spoken, and apparently a "Senior Stylist". I asked to get some shape back in my hair, and just to have it layered since it's grown out so much. The "layers" are so choppy and blunt. We obviously have different definitions of layers as he implied when he asked me what I thought layers were after asking him to add more layers, and to thin out the ends so it wasn't so blunt. It was an uncomfortable experience and he was not professional at all. Didn't even style my hair at the end. Just blew it dry by pushing the top of my head back and forth and attempted to curl with a round brush. Honestly, the guy didn't even looked like he wanted to be there. The hair wash felt like it was done by two people. It was soft and weak to start, then it got good and hit pressure points, then it ended off weak and wobbly. It was definitely not a haircut worthy of a $46 pricetag. I straighted my hair to take some pictures so it's not just bedhair flying all over the place. Honestly so unhappy I paid $50 for this. Very disappointed in results and service. If you were to try this place, just don't make the same mistake I did; and make sure to get an experienced stylist. Great salon! Great service. I got my haircut from Kevin and he did a great job. He asked a lot of questions and paid attention to what I wanted. As per usual, if you have a specific style in mind, make sure to show pictures! I had such a good experience that I will be bringing my mother here as well. And you know how picky mothers can be! Also, I will be considering getting my hair coloured here in the future! In terms of location, if you are having difficulty with parking, there is street parking as well as the plaza next door. Oh my gosh. If you value a good head massage then you have to come here! I almost fell asleep while they were washing my hair! I'm pretty loyal to the salon that I go to for colouring, so I've only gotten haircuts here, though I've been very tempted to get it coloured here too! The service is great. They take your jacket and purse when you walk in and you get your own little locker. You can hold onto the key so you don't have to worry about your stuff. I love love love the head massage when they're washing my hair; it feels like it lasts forever too! They're always playing some classical music so it makes it even more relaxing. I've always been pleased with my haircuts, but at the same time, I'm not really picky since I usually just get a simple trim. It's about $45-50. My boyfriend, on the other hand, is much pickier about his hairstyle and I've gotten him to switch from his usual barber to God Hands instead. He pays ~$45 for a men's cut. This would be in my opinion one of the best hair salon around Toronto or Markham. How does it work? Although they occasionally accepts walk in when they are not busy, but that rarely happens I recommend that you should book appointments before you come. you can park at the plazas near the shop. they will start your hair cut session by providing you one of the most sensational hair wash session, of course, depending on which assistant was washing your hair, your experience might be slightly different, but overtime you will find the assistant you like and you can request for them if you really like them. They don't just wash your hair here, they massage you for a good 10 to 15 minutes. Then after the hair wash your hairdresser will ask you to pick a style of your choosing, and trust me, they cut it pretty damn close to it. after the haircut, they will follow up with a finishing hair wash with a shorter session of the sensational hair wash (less massage at the end, but hey, that makes sense) then they will style your hair for you at the end so you leave pretty! Also, on a bonus side, there are online small celebrities that have came by the shop to do their hair and the owner of the shop is fairly famous within the toronto industry! so you will be content with your haircut. I gotta let y'all know how happy I am to find this place in Markham. I love Asian hair salons that know their game. You may seem a bit intimidated because everyone here is Asian but I assure you, their English is very good so even if you're not Chinese- this place got you. The front desk is very nice and they have little lockers for your stuff while you're getting your hair done. I had Rainnie cut my hair and to my surprise, she made me love my short hair! I cut off 5-6 inches and I was so scared (thus I never get my hair cut). She took her time and it looked absolutely amazing- she layered it so I could part it any way and have it still look good. I also had her dye my hair today (which again, I usually don't go out to do because I don't trust no man). I had blonde hair and some parts of it were red/orange because I used to have red hair. She consulted me because I wanted to have cool tones; she told me her plan to make it purple as possible so when she bleaches it, she didn't force it on an impossibly high volume and she gave me olaplex right after. She then put some purple dye (different colour for roots and the rest of the hair) and took her time with that as well. It turned out super purple and silvery- which is super hard to achieve with any hair, let alone my damaged ass hair. She informed me as I wash it, it will lighten even more. She even styled it for me with a straightener and damn, it looks bomb. This whole process took 5 hours and not at any point did they rush me. I'd also like to point out that the hair washers are great and I love getting my hair wash just because it feels so damn good. They're super good at giving head massages while they condition your hair. Hair cut is $45-55 (very worth it. They consult you as soon as you sit down and offer advice on what would look best.) let's just say, the whole time I was here, nobody left unhappy with a bad haircut. This review is for a ladies bob haircut, no colour/perm. I've had my share of hairstyles over the years, and have gone to various salons, trying and changing something new quite often. But a straight bob seems to be my default. The senior stylists name is Lucas, and I think he knows his stuff. Chatting was minimal to none (I'm more comfortable that way - chatting makes me nervous) but once we started talking, it was clear he has ideas. I believe I got the same man when I came here last and failed to get his name. But I remembered him, so it despite not getting his name, I returned. Good structured cut and good bounce. Ladies stay away from here for short haircuts! I thought I was playing it safe by going with the director Maple as it was my first time at the salon and there were great reviews with him. I asked for a long bob, longer in the front and shorter in the back, with a couple of face framing layers. He said he got it and didn't ask for me to show him any photos which I did have in my phone ready. What I ended up getting was an ugly helmet! It somehow became a uniform length blunt bob that was flat at the crown of my head and bulbous at the bottom. Rather than thinning my hair from the inside out, he thinned it from the outside in giving the bottom of my hair this bulgy rounded look. I have always had flat hair and he even commented that my hair is flat, so he should have known how disgusting this style would have looked on me with flat roots and a bulgy bottom. To add salt to the wound after I went home and washed my hair, on closer inspection the end of the bob was jagged and uneven! I had my glasses off during the cut so I couldn't see how much he was taking off, I just trusted him because he seemed confident and there have been good reviews on him. After he showed me I was kind of in shock and at that point it wasn't even worth the hassle to ask him to change it, because he had already hacked off too much! Now the hair is too short for even my regular stylist to fix or to put it into an updo to hide it for my upcoming special event. In my stupid state I managed to tip too, this hair disaster cost me $70+ after tax and tip. I wouldn't even accept if somebody offered to pay ME $70 to allow them to cut my hair into this style! I could've easily gotten this disgusting haircut (or probably an even better looking one) for $8 at an auntie's basement salon or First Choice... TLDR: would not recommend Maple for short woman's cut unless you're looking for a hair helmet. He seems to have good reviews otherwise so maybe he is only good for long hairstyles where it is easier to hide sloppy ends or where if something is messed up at least you have enough hair left for him to fix it. read more

All the good reviews here are for coloring/cut, I feel like someone need to review about their perming service... I recently moved to the area and wanted to find a new salon for my hair. After reading all glowing reviews here, even though all of the pictures are for coloring/ cut, I decided to give them a try because 1. there doesn't seem to be a better salon close to Markham and 2. I think they must have good skills and know Asian hair well. Customer service was good. Everyone was polite and gentle. Not too crowded. The owner/director, Maple, did the perm himself and he was thorough. Massage wasn't as good as reviews, only for 1-2 mins? Or was it only me? because it doesn't look busy at all... I showed Maple the picture of the hairstyle that I like, and he glanced at it for 1 second. He said he got it (and I got nervous... but decided to trust the artist). After it was done, I was surprise by the amount of time he needed to spend to style my hair, because with a digital perm, your hair supposed to be super easy to maintain, just blow dry and it's as good as being styled. When he showed me the back of my head in the mirror, it doesn't look anywhere close to the picture but still some what acceptable (because he styled it). I only feel SOOOOOO regret after the fist wash (and even more regret after each wash). Now every morning I have to spend a huge lot more time for my hair, which I didn't expect after paying nearly $300... I will just leave the photos here for you to judge. Don't make the same mistake. I have pretty bad trust issues with hair salons because i've been to so many that were like cheap and uneven or expensive but still like extremely mediocre. I've had hairdressers that didn't listen to me or i felt had a different pov on how my hair should look. But i think i finally found one that I feel confident going to. They accept walk-ins thank goodness, because my mom tried to cut my hair but chickened out last minute leaving me with awkward uneven hair. I really have to give it to my hairdresser Kevin and the lady who washed my hair for giving like 5/5 service. The woman who washed my hair shampooed and detangled and then gave me like a 5 minute head massage and it felt glorious. Kevin was really nice and listened to what i wanted, then told me what he could do to make sure i left satisfied. I really just asked for layers but this is the first time i got 100% what i wanted and for a price im willing to pay for. If the staff are reading this, i kinda wished i tipped a little more but i was too nervous to ask to fix the tip The place was fairly clean from what i could tell and it had a cute rustic aesthetic to it. I don't know why this is the top 1 salon in in Yelp for Markham area. The reason i had my hair service there because of the good comments. My experience was not good. I had haircolor and keratin silk here. I told the stylist that I like the caramel brown and showed the picture to him. His assistant was all the one who did my my kerasilk and hair color with his supervision. After my hair was blowed dry, I told the stylist that I dont see caramel brown in my hair. It looks like medium brown like my natural hair color that I can do it by myself at home. Haircolor cost me 190cad and kerasilk 380. Pictures shown below for you to judge. My co worker told me that I look like I just did it by myself.Im not a complainer,but im never satisfied with their service. Total cost me 685cad with tax for haircolor and kerasilk. Do not go to this salon, there are more better here and underrated. I hope the comments are legit and not friends or family. Additionally, when i got inside the salon,the receptionist handed over me the robe that was just use by another client who just finished his service. I told the receptionist to give me a new one as we are in precautions for Covid, then she was hesitant at fist to give me a new one. She gave me a like a big disposable paper to protect my clothes. Aside from that, i am in doubt that the towel used to dry my hair were fresh and looks like it was use by another client. Sanitary wise is questionable. Protective covering are use from one client to another. Where is the precaution here?. U pay more here, u deserve to have disposable protective covering. I had my hair cut by Lucas and I had a wonderful experience. He took the time to understand what I wanted and was extremely detail-oriented. He also did a mini blowout before I left and my hair looked and felt great walking out of the salon. His technique on my layers was amazing. There's lots of movement to my hair now and it feels much healthier. Prior to the cut, there was a shampoo and wash included. The wash is done by a different person from your stylist. Found this salon online, read great review about it and decided to give it a try. I walk into the salon, front desk was pretty nice, they give you a locker to put your belongs in. She brought me over to the chair and the stylist came over. The stylist didn't introduce himself or maybe he was too soft spoken so I didn't even catch his name. He could only speak mandarin or English and it was hard for me to explain how I want my hair to be cut. He couldn't really understand my request so I showed him a picture similar to what I want. The final product isn't what I expected, I look like I have a helmet on my head. Now I have to find another salon, pay again to get rid of this ugly helmet. So disappointed. read more

What a cute little Salon! Well...not exactly little but it is super cute with a vintage type of decor that really grasped my attention. I decided to cut my hair super short last minute and my friend recommended this place so I called them and they luckily had an opening slot available for me. When I got there, I found it really neat that they had little lockers for you to leave your stuff in. They helped me change and took me to get my hair washed. And let me tell y'all...WHAT A HEAVENLY MASSAGE. I've received a lot of head massages but this was massage was literally the best ever. I felt so relaxed and I almost snoozed off. Like, no please don't stop...I don't even want a hair cut anymore just keep massaging my head. I believe Raine was the one who cut my hair. I loved how she took her time to really get into the kind of hair I wanted. She made suggestions that really suited what I desired going into the salon so obviously, I left extremely happy with my haircut. The prices were also reasonable (my wash and cut came to $70). I love my new bob:) I'm someone who has commitment issues when it comes to hairdressers...I'm always on yelp looking for recommendations and was happy to find this place with such great reviews. Post partum hairloss is REAL guys:( I had hair down to my back with a 6 month old super blonde balayage. My thick beautiful pregnancy hair started falling out 3 months postpartum then my baby started to develop a liking to grabbing my hair and not letting go, I needed a change and to treat myself to some TLC! I contacted the salon through yelp and got an appt quickly. The salon itself is beautiful as others have mentioned. There's a parking lot right behind the salon with signs that say commercial parking for the plaza for 2 hrs so it's pretty convenient. I didn't know who to book with so when I told the receptionist I'm looking to go from long to short hair she suggested the director Maple. Maple was really nice and thoughtful when he came over for the consultation, I told him my situation and showed him some pics for reference..I originally wanted a blunt bob to keep some thickness in my hair but he told me that Asian hair falls a bit different than Caucasian hair and told me he would layer it a bit and leave the front slightly longer. He said it would be better to keep the bob above shoulder to avoid it from curling outwards. I appreciated that he considered all these things. The hair wash and neck massage was heavenly as others mentioned and was so nice and relaxing! This is my first review ever and boy am I glad I came across this salon. Hands down one of the best salons I have been to in Markham. I booked my appointment on Yelp and I got a reply with 10 mins of hitting send. On the day of my appointment, I went in with high hopes not quite knowing what to expect but lo and behold I was instantly greeted at front desk and was quickly escorted to do a quick consultation with my stylist. Sandy, my lovely hair stylist was attentive and gave suggestions to go along with cut I was looking for. After a very relaxing and comfortable hair washing session, I was headed back to the chair when I chopped off a good 7 inches of hair. Sandy gave me a Lob haircut and I couldn't be happier with the results. One week later, I felt adventurous and decided to go back and get some highlights in. I asked for Sandy again as she is one the stylist whom I trust with my hair. Again, she did not disappoint and delivered beautifully coloured ash blonde highlights on my previously dyed black hair. I have lived right next to God Hands for about a year now. I have always been hesitant to go in because of my texture of my hair, and joy, I should have stayed away. I had made a call ahead to see if they were able to take me in at short noticing, seeing I had an important last-minute event to attend to and just needed a wash and style. The lady who answered said it would be no problem. I arrived 5 minutes later, and as soon a I walked into the door, the woman asked me if my hair was naturally curly, and that I would need to pay double. I had just gotten a hair cut the month3 before, so my hair is in a very stylish asymmetrical cut that is mid-neck length as well treated with an Oleplex and Keratin treatment this past summer, so pretty manageable to work with. I was trying to explain this to her, and she cut me off and told me that I needed to accept the price or was unable to see anyone. I then asked her who my stylist would be and she just repeated that I would need to accept the price. I turned to the four men all on their phones and asked them if they worked here. They all meekly answered yes. THIS should have been my red flag, but I was in a bind and needed to get my hair done quickly. So I told her I accepted the new price ($75.00). I was put with the stylist that spoke the least amount of English and who seemed to be an apprentice. There was NO consultation for what I wanted to do with my hair. I was sent to the sink, and given a wash (which I will actually commend. That gentleman did a great job). I was put back into the chair with the apprentice, who asked me if it was okay if he used a hair straightener. I said yes. As he was blow drying my hair I could see the employees making faces at each other and rolling their eyes. He seemed afraid to touch my hair. He came of the front of my hair, which is growing in from a partially shaved cut. I'm letting it grow out, and explained that if he didn't want to do anything with it, not to worry, I'll gel the front down at home, and to focus on the back. He immediately grabbed the straightener, and started to try and straighten the most damp part of my hair. He didn't part it, or properly blow dry my hair with a rolling comb. As I was experiencing this, a blond woman with straightened hair was having a consultation with a cut with a stylist that spoke perfectly fluent English. She admitted to him that her hair was naturally curly. There was no immediate double charge for her, no eye rolls, no treatment as though she was a second rate citizen. As soon as I saw this I turned around at asked to speak to the manager, who was smoking a cigarette outside. He came in and I went over to the front desk to explain my experience about the double charge with no consultation. He said it was because my hair would take a long time. And I explained that if I had a consultation, you could have just told me that this establishment was unable to handle my hair. I told him I was embarrassed and didn't feel comfortable being there anymore. They made me pay $35 for the wash. I tipped the gentleman who actually washed my hair, because he did a great job. I will never set foot in that place again. I was hoping to be able to have a nice convenient place to get my hair done, but it's not God Hands. My usual hair stylist in Toronto, charges close to the same prices that God Hands does and they work with celebrities of ALL HAIR TYPES on a regular basis with out double charging them. God Hands is just full of unprofessionals that probably never actually went to any styling academy, and are only suited to work with the select clients that come in (fine, thin, manageable hair) as I look through the reviews here, I understand. After my horrendous experience there, I ran across the street to PureSelf Salon and they had no problem doing emergency damage control, which was done in 40 minutes with leisurely conversation and smiles. Do yourself a favor and start at PureSelf. They certainly saved the day. read more

I've been going to Maple for my haircuts since he was at Pmall back in 2014/2015. Whatever style you're looking for, he will deliver it. I'm happy to see he has branched off on his own! The salon is brand new- the interior has a rustic feel but with a modern twist. The service is great, they put your jackets in lockers, serve you tea and the head massages during your wash are amazing! Maple is professional, his work is top notch and he's the only one I trust with my hair :) If you're looking for a new salon I would highly recommend this place. Had a great experience here. I was visiting family from out of town so it was my first time at God Hands. I was able to make an appointment and come in the same day for a men's haircut and beard trim. They started with washing (triple washing?) my hair which included a bit of a temple, scalp, and next massage. So soothing! Seems like a small thing but it was so relaxing and really made this experience stand out from other hair places. Haircut was really well done, my stylist was super professional and I could tell he was taking great care to get everything right. Since this isn't my usual spot, the haircut I got wasn't my usual but I like it so much I might ask my regular stylist to adjust to look like this one. He also shaped my beard around the edges really well. My only feedback there is that I was also hoping to trim down my beard especially where there was scraggly uneven hair and I think he could've done more there. They also had run out of hot towels so they didn't have that for me either. I would also say they can improve their phone service. Felt hard to communicate with the person on the phone when booking the appointment, and even telling whether I had the right number. It'd be better if they could speak loudly and clearly, and when answering the phone clearly greet the customer, and say this is God Hands, and maybe say the location so people know they've got the right place. Couple small things that weren't perfect, but overall felt super good coming out of the shop, feeling relaxed from the little bit of head massage and with a fresh good-looking haircut. Just an update, I have been going to them since March, and I am quite happy with the services that they have provided. I have gotten my entire head colored, and also sectional coloring. Recently I made the decision to cut a big chunk of my hair off, and Maple wanted to ensure that I was ready for the cut. Which is quite good on the part of service, and also he would make recommendations on how to cut it to look better. Some places would just follow whatever the clients want, but I feel they do a good job to balance their professional opinion with what the customers want. The services provided here are quite comprehensive, so you feel like you are getting quite good service here. The staff work together seamlessly, so it doesn't seem like there is too much of a wait between hair washing to the actual service you are here for. Also, I rarely have stayed at a salon for so long, so this is definitely my confirmation to them that they are doing a wonderful job. One word of advice, they are quite busy (they have a lot of clients), so I would suggest making a reservation. read more

As someone that hadn't cut her hair in years, you can imagine that I'm incredibly attached to it. Deciding to cut it on a whim, I started looking at yelp reviews. The salon came up and the promising reviews led to me making a same-day appointment. Walking in, I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly service. There was a minor wait, but nothing that was over the top. After being seated, I had a chance to speak with my stylist about how I wanted my haircut to look. Soon after, I was whisked away to get my hair washed. The entire process of washing my hair was incredibly relaxing. I also adored my cut because it was what I had anticipated when I made the appointment. However, I did end up having to remove a star over a comment I had heard towards the end of my appointment. Throughout my time with the salon, I spoke English as that is the language I am most comfortable with. That does not mean I don't understand Chinese, so I certainly did understand when the two girls working on my hair had commented about the state of it. They mentioned the rather oily state of my hair, and chuckled about it to themselves. (Mind you, I had come directly from work and yes, my hair hadn't be washed in a day. After working seven days straight- I was a little worse for wear) I don't normally wash prior to a salon visit as I feel washing it twice is too much on my chemically treated hair (which is already pretty damaged, hence the reason for the cut.) In the face and presence of the customer, it immediately dampened the mood. Was I still happy with everything? Absolutely. Could it have been slightly better? Sure. Am I going to return? First off, I used the yelp app to request appointment, but nobody called me back nor replied to my message. I had to call them personally for an appointment. The reception was friendly tho, and I arrived at my appointment..... Atmosphere : small, but clean and new Colourist : pleasant, but there is no head massage from him. So I don't know what this amazing head massage comes from all other yelp reviewers. Stylist : sandy....her consultation was pleasant but her cutting is very amateur Tip : they accept debit BUT there is a preset 15% tip. Why would I give 15% when I'm not happy with their cut or service ? Update : when I coloured my hair I repeatedly made sure my greys were covered. I mentioned to the colourist as well as my "stylist " and they BOTH reassured that they would.....BUT they did NOT! The colourist, by the way, was annoyed that I would even mention....but why would I not ?! Considering you did a POOR job just as I thought Overall: one star is too much in my opinion for the price they charge. Very, and I mean VERY amateur cut and colour. After trying many of the very over priced hair salons in Markham, where it is a coin toss wrt a good cut or a brutal hair cut. To be precise, hearing my wife say the worst haircut of my life, I am happy to say that we are quite please with my first two haircuts at GHH salon, where the cut is better, the wash is better, the treatment is better, the people are friendlier. I get another cut tonight and expect this cut to be even better. read more

Kevin was my hair stylist and he made me feel so comfortable. I was going from belly button length hair to chest length. He listened to what I wanted and did exactly that! I am so happy with the results, also the guy in charge of washing hair has the softest hands and is so gentle. I usually hate when people wash my hair at salons because they can be so rough, but he was so gentle and made sure not to tug my hair. It is really had to wash lengthy hair so I was impressed he did it with ease and he was very though with shampooing and conditioning multiple times. read more

Cute hair salon! They give excellent hair massages during the hair wash. Truly "god hands". Hair cut prices are fair. Service was alright. They would probably talk to you more if you spoke Chinese. Overall, it was a quite relaxing experience. read more

Wow, I LOVE the ambience here: modern decor with jazz music, bright warm lights, and a nice head massage is the way to go! I was greeted in the front by a really sweet girl and she took my backpack and coat to put in a locker. The owner, Maple had cut my hair and it turned out beautiful. I had the best head massage during my shampoo and conditioning by his assistant and a quick but thorough hair cut. The only thing that bothered me was one of their cliente playing his Mandarin dramas on his phone a little too loud in my ear as he was laying next to me, getting his hair washed but besides that... this has officially become my go-to salon! read more

Did not do an amazing job, told me it was going to be $530 so I thought alright, you get what you pay for (I wanted to bleach and dye my hair silver-ish purple). At the end, they told me the total was $730 for a mediocre and not very even dye job. They failed to tell me that there was a REQUIRED minimum 15% tip alongside tax. read more
