Staff was very helpful and have good suggestions for games. They were right there when we couldn't figure a game out.

If you're truly interested in spending upwards of $2000 on a retro pinball machine, you're probably…read moretoo busy partying it up in your mansion to spend time on the internet looking through business directories for personal testimonies. But if you've made it this far, let me tell you about the magical and prehistoric collector's items available at John's Jukes. First and foremost are the Jukeboxes, old delightful automated DJ machines that take everything from loonies to nickels. One of the Jukeboxes is fashioned to look like the back of a hot pink convertible, perfect for making your living room look like Pop Tate's Soda Shop in Archie Comics. Most of the other ones can be summed up by referencing the opening montage for Happy Days. There is also a wide variety of pinball machines, with every co-opted franchise from Star Wars to Kiss, and a few video game consoles that have been manhandled by fastidious fingers for over 40 years. But it's a high price to pay for nostalgia, with items ranging from several hundred dollars to several thousand. If you do miss Frogger that much though, it's the right place to go, just make sure that you have a truck nearby so you don't have to maneuver the console through traffic.

Now, I am not a pinball game player, nor am I a jukebox expert, but I love the way they look in a large living room or a retro restaurant. And this place has some of the more unique items. From brightly decorated machines that play music the old-world ways (with coins) to pinball machines that cost a few thousand dollars, this travel time back to more beautiful days gone by is worth a visit.

Even though there were lots of machines, I thought the selection was on the small side. I went back to read other Yelp reviews and some of them state that the staff gave them additional coins if they weren't winning anything. Thankfully, we didn't have to go that route, as we did come out with two stuffies. This is really different from one of our local places where it is $1 per play and for $30, we're getting 5+ toys. It was a late afternoon on a weekday and we were the only customers there for most of the visit. The one woman working the counter was nice and helped reposition some prizes. One of the toys we got was a Totoro that was very soft - quality seems good. I think you can have fun here, but I'd recommend walking the floor first to make sure you have the right expectations.

In the past we've found that it's usually quite difficult to win any prizes from claw machines; however, I had seen an Instagram reel where the reviewer said that it wasn't that hard with these machines. She was right. My daughter ended up winning something on her very first try! I spent about $10 at Sumo Dino Claw City and my daughter walked away with two Demon Slayer items including a plush Nezuko. (Her favourite character from Demon Slayer) Could have actually saved myself $4 as she won her two prizes already after using only $6 worth of tokens.
