It's certainly not a big play area, but our son liked it and the staff at the entrance were nice. For in and out privileges the whole day, and for only around $11.50, it's not a bad price to play on their jungle gym. If you have a young kid who is bored doing all the typical sightseeing stuff, this was a good break for him and he easily spent an hour, and possibly an hour and a half, and he still didn't want to leave. It's not any place you need to go out of your way to visit, but if you're in the area and your young kid just needs a break from all the "boring" adult stuff, this is a good place to take them so they can let off some steam. Our family visited The Adventure Zone for a birthday party and had a blast. The birthday room is a good size and can comfortably seat about 30 people. It's clean and the staff helps with you all the decorating. You're allowed to bring in outside food as well as buy food from the place. There isn't much selection for food here except for popcorn and pizza. Outside the party room, you and your kids can have access to the arcade and loonie/toonie rides. Quite a few machines were out of order, but we were able to find some to play. On the side, you can redeem your tickets for prizes. Downstairs, the kids can enter the climbing structures and ball pit. read more

This is one of the best indoor play areas around simply because there is only one entrance/exit and they are truly strict about not letting kids out unless parents/guardians are there, making the whole experience a lot less stressful for parents. They're also really good at making sure the play area isn't overcrowded. After you pay, they give you and your child a ticket with a matching number. Hold on to the ticket, because you will need it in order to claim your child. Parents are allowed in with little ones, but you can also have a seat near the entrance, sip a coffee or tea, and check in on your little one from time to time. I recommend this play area for kids 2-6. Toddlers under 2 might get trampled on by the older kids. An athletic or energetic 2 year old who is a total monkey could manage here, but a more fearsome 2 year old might find it overwhelming. The play structure is too small for children older than 6, as it just isn't big enough and having bigger, rougher kids makes it less fun for little ones. read more

A great place to bring a kid or kids - your own, or especially borrowed. You'll live on in memory as the coolest-ever uncle or auntie! I've been coming here almost weekly for over a year, but for some reason, never thought to review it. I come with two little friends, currently aged 4.5 and 2.5, and they are still young enough to delight in the loonie rides (ice cream truck, horse, Dino, or paddy wagon) and the free climbing structure/tunnel slide in the waiting area. These do not require paying $8 per child ($28 for a monthly pass). The Adventure Zone itself is a huge two-storey enclosed climbing gym, with ball pits, slides and all manner of kid play bliss. The Zone also takes care of ticket-counting for the arcade across the way, and the enticing prizes festoon the walls and ceiling of the waiting area. There is a mini-food court and a candy store right nearby, plus the well-known and much-loved Party Zone, where a group of boisterous children are enthusiastically belting out "Happy Birthday/Bonne Fête" at the top of their lungs to a lucky little friend. There is also a "ceramix" area for the kind of party where kids make their own party favour (and then their parents have to dust it until they go away to university). I've taken my kids to Granville Island too many times to count. We always visit the kids market, browse the shops, get a hair cut, or some candies and ride the coin operated merry go 'round. But I never would have thought to let my kids play in the advevture zone. To be honest , I didn't think it was a good size play area for my kids to have fun AND being in Granville Island I figure the price would probably be unreasonable. All I usually see while I sit at the tables ( across the toy store ) are a bunch of kids sitting in a ball pit. And THIS is what I thought the adventure was. Just the ball pit , the arcade and some of the coin operated rides. I was so wrong !! Last week was the very first time I let my kids play inside this adventure zone! It was such a deal! (IMO because the kid's can't exit without the attendant checking that my kids wrist bands matched the numbers on my receipt ... thus a safety check AND it only cost $10.50/ kid and there's no limit as it's an all day pass ( unlike some places )! I was able to take a break, have a bubble tea (SUPER expensive $7 drink !!!) and browse a few stores near the adventure zone ) . My kids had SO much fun! My son loved the screen where could 'shoot' objects with the ball pit balls by throwing them against the screen. I'm definitely going to let my kids play at the adventure zone each time we visit. I'll admit, I was extremely skeptical about the Adventure Zone. At $10 a kid it was hard for me to shell out $30 because we have three kids. But my husband felt it was something they'd enjoy after a day of walking in the cold and trying to protect our food from the giant pidgeons at Granville Island. The structure is basically a gigantic enclosed jungle gym which has a lot of plastic ball pits on two different levels and an interactive video game feature. I thought it would be way to basic for my older children who are 11 and 13, but they loved it almost as much as our six year old. I guess they're both still holding onto the last threads of childhood, and I totally support that decision! The best part about the Adventure Zone is that there's only one way in and one way out. So you can pop your kids in there and take a much needed break. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE MY KIDS, but sometimes Mama just needs some peace and quiet before she loses her mind from all the voices screaming at her 24/7. No I'm not crazy, I literally have three kids screaming at me all the time! The worst part about the Adventure Zone other than $10 per kid? Our daughter dropped her mood ring and it got stuck on one of the level barriers, and the staffer told us there was no way to get it out. She was completely heartbroken because when you are a six year old girl, your mood ring is LIFE! Mostly because your older sister has the exact same mood ring and you are doing your best to copy everything she does. And at this moment in time that mood ring is the complete and absolute center of your world, at least until you get distracted by another cheap trinket you believe will change your whole existence like a purple unicorn sweatshirt or heart shaped choker necklace. And YES, I lived for all three of those items when I was growing up! This all could have ended in a complete emotional meltdown, but thankfully her Daddy is a total ninja and was able to figure out a way to get her mood ring. Which she then lost about two hours later somewhere in our Airbnb. (Side note: I really think my husband might be a ninja, but isn't allowed to tell me because of some secret ninja code. Must visit if you have young ones and visiting Granville Island. Friendly staff. I saw them pouring water in a cup for thirsty kids. They let your child go in and out so they can play, come out and eat then play some more. There are party rooms and arcade and plenty of tables and seating to watch your kids play. There is a small cafe where you can order your food. Staff are not particularly watching kids inside and while I did not see any rough playing, you probably should be watching them. There is no restroom inside the Adventure Zone that I saw, so another reason to stay rather than just go shopping. Inside play structure, there's a ball pit and interactive video game. My 6YO had a great time and my 20 month also had a great time getting on and off coin operated rides. read more

Don't be fooled by its picture! It's Sooooo small and old and they should probably charge like $3 per kid! When you walk in, everything looks so dirty and worn out. The vinyl surface was ripped everywhere! The surface looks like no one wiped clean for years! We went in 30 mins before closing and had to pay full price! Since we didn't have time to play the arcade so I asked to return the $5.00 token I purchased! Nope they were very firm that their tokens had no value! What I just paid $5.00! Anyway! I didn't bother to argue any longer and gave the tokens to a nearby kid. Will not return for sure! Go to 365fundays which is next door to Apex Adventure. They have so called security measures in place to keep your kids safe while you shop. Don't trust them! They let my kid out without a parent with an accompanying ticket to match his wrist band. When we came to get our son he was not in the play structure where he should have been. We found him luckily in another area and notified staff. They responded by laughing and saying they thought he was with his dad. Careless and dangerous. I see reviews saying they are strict about this. I don't know if it was just the particular staff on that day but I wouldn't leave it up to chance. Even if you are watching your child from below if they get out a level up they can disappear into the busy crowd before you know it. read more

One of the staff was on his cell phone while we waited at the counter, and both staff weren't very informative, helpful, or friendly. Super unimpressed. I was at the fabulous kids market on Sunday with my nearly 4 year old and she wanted to go into the Adventure Zone. She was in there for a total of 3 minutes before she started freaking out because other kids were playing rough, and she wanted to leave. I asked them if there was anything they could do since she wasn't in there long and I had *just* paid nearly $11 for her to play. The attendant said okay, we'll give you some tolkens to use in the arcade. Fine - better than nothing. EXCEPT that she gave me 4 tokens, which I didn't realize until after were worth $1 total! Last weekend my girlfriend celebrated Mother's DAy and wanted to spend it with her daughter (makes no sense to me considering that most moms want peace and quiet on M-day). She invited me to hang out with her since her daughter adores me. I can't say no to a kid that personally called my land-line and left an ubber cute message on the phone wanting to spend time with her auntie. We spent a portion of the afternoon on Grandville Island inspire of the fluctuating weather. This was one of the shops that we went to. Of course she loved it. Pros: It feels safe, as there is only one entrance/exit. The workers are courteous and kid-friendly. My kid likes the facility itself. Con: After I drop my kid off, where do I sit and wait? I don't want to shop and I don't want to eat the trashy food at their cafe. There are tables, but signs on them forcefully shame me away from sitting there unless I will buy food that I don't want. There are two tables down on the first floor, which are always full. So I'm supposed to, what, stand there and wait for an hour? Go sit in my car? Walk in the rain? A play place for kids that puts zero thought into the experience of the parent who brings his child there is almost worthless, no matter how good its design is for the children. Other places, like Crash Crawley's, Koko's, and Go Bananas, have comfortable couches, and even magazines and wifi. PLEASE READ AND BE VERY CAREFUL!!!! On 9th August 2015 I was at Granville Island with my sister and I took my daughter and 2 nephew to Adventure Zone in the Kids Market around 5pm. When I asked the male assistant if it's ok to leave them there and I'll come back to pick them up, he assured me that they're very strict on security and they won't be let out unless they have the matching tickets to their wristband. So I was then issued a tickets for each of the children and placed wristbands on each of their wrists. I sat at the cafe opposite the soft play watching them play for 20mins making sure they were all settled in before leaving them. Half an hour later on my way back just before they were closing I heard my daughter shouting me. I looked up and there she was with a young male and female couple. They told me she was looking for her mum and they helped her. I was very thankful at the time and said thanks to the couple, then went back to the crèche for my other 2 kids. When I got there Jacob (my 7yr old nephew) was crying saying he lost Charley (my 3yr old daughter) I said to the female assistant and asked how my daughter got out. She said that Charley's got no wristband on her now, so she was never at the crèche! I said someone must have taken it off her because there's no chance she would've been able to take it off herself! I then said that I have 3 tickets and there's 2 inside and I've just found my daughter outside with 2 strangers. The male assistant returned and I asked him what happened and he was gobsmacked and said he had no idea how she got out, and that he wants to know himself and will investigate. Charley was wearing her shoes when I found her, and the assistant had put her shoes in the drawer behind the counter when we arrived at the crèche, so someone must have gave her the shoes back! And someone has taken her wristband off! I didn't report it at the time as I was just greatful I got back in time. As the weeks went by I just kept thinking what if I didn't get back in time or if in future it happens to someone else's or if it's already happened before!! What if the couple hadn't found her outside the crèche and had abducted her from the crèche? Still up till today haven't a clue of what had happened that day and would like to warn all other parents that this is not a safe place for your children!!! read more
