My husband and I just bought a unit this summer, so we didn't have experience with the old…read moremanagement. However, this is a pretty good building to live in in my opinion, especially for the price and the area. You're literally in the heart of everything and all the other trendy neighborhoods are a 15-20 min walk (like Gold Coast) or a short uber drive (like West Loop.) I love that I'm walking distance to 4 grocery stores (like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Jewels) and other services I need like waxing places and nail places. There's also endless restaurants around the area. The building also has a pool, sauna, steam room, weight room, a cardio room complete with lockers and showers. The upkeep of the hallways is good (even though the hall walls are a hideous yellow) and there's always someone cleaning the hallway carpets weekly. The lobby is nice and well put together. The doormen are really good. Like someone else said, they know a lot of the residents so the automatically open the doors for you whenever you walk in. They've also been super helpful with attending to any guests, deliveries, and package mix ups we've had. I also really like the new system of automated texts when your package arrives. I also like that the management changed the sign in the back of the building when you walk into the lobby. That shows me they're actively working to improve things around the building. That being said, there are some problems with this building. When we were looking at this place, I hated the huge TVs with the ads in the lobby and I still do. They seriously need to get rid of the ads and use that area as an announcements area for residents. It's literally such an eye sore with those ads. Also, the management like other people have said isn't that helpful. Talking to them about any question is like pulling teeth. I haven't had to deal with them that much so it hasn't been a huge issue. In terms of the parking garage, it's definitely not ideally set up. The parking spaces are huge so its super easy to park, but when you're going around the corners, you can't see and could easily crash into another car. However, there's barely anyone else using their car whenever I drive out, so it hasn't been a huge issue either. Lastly, the management sends us these random update emails that just confuse us, such as updates with the pool. Not really sure what's going on there, but it's not the worst thing in the world.

The changes…read morein management have been confusing to say the least, and the way that money is being spent is embarrassing. The lobby used to have a classy, clean feel, but for some reason, a massive video wall was installed that displays blurry photos with watermarks, and even blurrier ads. Management also bought a new furniture set of rainbow colored chairs for the lobby, but thankfully put back in the old furniture. We've been given a TV in the elevator lobby (which is slightly less tacky than the video wall), and a kiosk that always has a pop-up for Windows Updates. Recently the elevators have been going out regularly, sometimes as many as two (there are a total of 4), which from a top floor that I am on, can take nearly nearly 10 minutes of waiting and standing just to get out of the building or up to my apartment. The parking garage elevator is also consistently breaking down, and when it does work, is slow, and circa 1990's, with pieces falling apart on the inside. But hey, at least we have a massive TV. I also read a review that exiting the garage is difficult, but this is a result of nearby construction, which the building has nothing to do with - but it is still inconvenient, and the turn to get inside is very sharp since lanes were shifted over, and bike lane removed at the gate. It seems that management is trying to win us over with new "toys" and showboating, and it is concerning to think what is going on.

I still have the parking fob and so when I'm downtown I conveniently park in the parking garage. "With a rebel yell...she cried more more more." Sorry, sometimes when I write reviews I insert Billy Idol lyrics...deal with it. But please...please don't rat me out! The best part of this place was that it's really close to downtown and so the commute to work was a breeze. Even more, Trader Joes, Jewel, and WholeFoods were all in a two block radius from 33. Needless to say my fat ass was fed and Portillo's, Portillos, Portillos were nails 1, 2 and 3. Great memories... the 10 or so doormen who all thought I was in my 40s, the extremely nice indian next door neighbor, the geeky 19 year old commodities trader who lived at the end of the hall, and the weird 50 year old man who lived with his wife and golden retriever who I saw at the boats nearly every time I was there and who shoved the red eye and the WSJ inside my apartment because that was supposed to motivate me to clean. No one does that to me sir save my wife! And on and on. I miss you 33.

Sue, the…read morebuilding/property manager is horrible - she works more at not doing her job then she would have to work doing her job. Wallace the doorman and package room staff is a very bitter old man and hates his job and takes it out on everyone. Multiple residents have complained to Sue about him but nothing ever gets done. The management office plays favorites with the board members and allow them to break what ever rules they want when they want to. Most off the door staff are awesome and go out of their way to help you when you need it ( Aaron Brown and Greg Bulgier are by far the best that work here). The office also refuses to speak with renters and says that they aren't under contract with them and turns their backs on complaints if they aren't from the unit owners in writing. The building is also FULL of foreclosures to those owners have put those units up for rent very cheap to get all the money they can out of the unit before the bank takes it. This has caused the building to fill with less desirable residents. This building use to be great but it's not anymore. Owners are far out numbered by renters so the care for others quiet is something of the past. The Millenium Center is a far cry from what it once was - I am glad that I only have this last year left on my lease so that I can move. I'll miss the door staff that have become good friends but our friendship wont end when I leave - we'll just have a nicer place to hang out at. Take it from me - if you're looking for a nice quiet place to live where the management staff respects you AVOID this place. This isn't the building from 2009 and before. They now charge you $20 to talk to maintenance, parking is full price for guest, the building is full of barking dogs and the management office (Sue and Erica) are trash.

I was starting with a smaller job first involving multiple carpentry related items. It's a good way to assess whether I'd use the contractor again for the more complex kitchen and bath. My HOA must approve any contractor before work commences and requires that they be licensed in Chicago, Insured, and bonded. Chicago Partners claims to be so on their website and confirmed that to me in person. IIan was very charming, knowledgeable, and initially quite responsive. His quote was detailed and helpfully assigned a dollar amount per task, as I'd requested. Unfortunately, as another reviewer noted, the proposal included language that would waive and indemnify Chicago Construction for any damage, harm, or injuries etc. that Chicago Construction might cause in the course of their work. I spoke to IIan about this and he said he was a lawyer and wrote it himself. I'm certain he did. I managed a contracts office doing over $300 million in business each year - none of my staff would ever approve a waiver that puts 100% of the risk on the client for harm that a contractor might cause. I asked IIan what was the point of requiring a contractor be bonded and insured was if I was going to waive their responsibility anyway? I told him my association wouldn't approve such a waiver. I asked him to strike the language and also to reduce the tasks in the quote. Unfortunately, I never heard back from him. This was in July. I used another contractor to complete the project and am now taking bids for the bathroom. I will not seek a bid from this company.
