I think I need to update my review from 14 years ago!!!!…read more I stand by my original post: How wonderful to have a real grocery store that specializes in local and organic products. Much of the produce is locally grown, or locally adjacent (AKA California) OK, Bananas do not grow in the Great Basin. The origin of the produce is identified. They work with local farmers, bakeries, and other local businesses for the food and non-food items. They no longer have the upstairs restaurant but they do have a kitchen and make ready to go items. I love picking up a fresh salad (some with meat some purely vegan/vegetarian) , a yummy very generously filled wrap, house made cookies and other delectable treats. They have a large selection of locally produced meats. Lots of organic canned goods, dairy and non-dairy items . . . the list goes on. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Memberships are available (20$/year) with a once a month 10% off of your total purchase. You do NOT need a membership to shop here. It's small and a bit cramped but there is a lot of good stuff there. It's clean and friendly and completely locally owned.

So when lunch break came around I knew exactly where I was headed, Great Basin Co-op! I enjoyed a nice brisk walk in an autumn filled day. When I entered the store I was warming greeted by staff and by an organic clean smell. I really wanted their fresh spring rolls but they did not have those that day so I chose fresh rolled salmon made with wild caught salmon. It did not disappoint! Will I be back? Absolutely! So much fresh and organic choices! They also have plenty of seating indoor or outdoor. Thanks Great Basin Co-op!

It is such a great atmosphere and I trust the brands and ingredients of what the buyers of the store select, they have the same values I do so it makes shopping so much easier. I also want to shout out Taylor, I believe she is a manager of sorts there, she is always so helpful and vibrant and it makes my day when I see her. The fact that anyone who is working the department will LOOK UP in their system what you actually need is even better! Example: my Dr suggested I take magnesium. But not what type. I go to New Moon (this was years ago btw) and Andrew was working. I was obviously confused by all the magnesium choices and he was right there. He asked what I would be taking the magnesium for. I told him, he went to their system, cross referenced a few things, then had the answer! This kind of service is on par with the rest of New Moon staff. The people who work there are all so helpful and kind. The store is always clean and we'll organized. The produce is in great condition. The juice bar is awesome. The sandwiches are so good. The grab and go options are typically very tasty. Yes, it's a bit more expensive. However, the products are all high quality and often local. Definitely recently New Moon

I love just wandering the store, seeking out new products and items. There is everything from fresh to frozen, canned, homeopathic medicine, soaps, and lotions. Most stores I enter have very few items I can eat. But here there are a lot of snacks, sweet items, drinks, and even packaged items such as chips. I adore that they carry a variety of flours, nut flours, gluten-free, cassava, tapioca, as well as others. The store always smells clean. In the wintertime, there is a smell of ginger. The employees are always courteous and knowledgeable. The only con is that they do not have a store in Sparks. Best tip: Don't forget to bring your own grocery bags or cooler. I bring a cooler in the summertime. Always pack more bags than you think you will need.
