I think I need to update my review from 14 years ago!!!!…read more I stand by my original post: How wonderful to have a real grocery store that specializes in local and organic products. Much of the produce is locally grown, or locally adjacent (AKA California) OK, Bananas do not grow in the Great Basin. The origin of the produce is identified. They work with local farmers, bakeries, and other local businesses for the food and non-food items. They no longer have the upstairs restaurant but they do have a kitchen and make ready to go items. I love picking up a fresh salad (some with meat some purely vegan/vegetarian) , a yummy very generously filled wrap, house made cookies and other delectable treats. They have a large selection of locally produced meats. Lots of organic canned goods, dairy and non-dairy items . . . the list goes on. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Memberships are available (20$/year) with a once a month 10% off of your total purchase. You do NOT need a membership to shop here. It's small and a bit cramped but there is a lot of good stuff there. It's clean and friendly and completely locally owned.

So when lunch break came around I knew exactly where I was headed, Great Basin Co-op! I enjoyed a nice brisk walk in an autumn filled day. When I entered the store I was warming greeted by staff and by an organic clean smell. I really wanted their fresh spring rolls but they did not have those that day so I chose fresh rolled salmon made with wild caught salmon. It did not disappoint! Will I be back? Absolutely! So much fresh and organic choices! They also have plenty of seating indoor or outdoor. Thanks Great Basin Co-op!

I've been coming to this market frequently, and my experiences usually range from good to…read moreabsolutely excellent, primarily thanks to Anna, one of the cashiers. Anna assists me almost every time I visit, and she is a absolute joy. She always has a genuine smile on her face and possesses the best attitude. Honestly, it's some of the best customer service I've ever experienced anywhere. She consistently turns a routine grocery trip into a great day. Unfortunately, my experience at the deli counter recently was the exact opposite. I went to order a sandwich and, as a first-timer, didn't realize there was a paper form I needed to fill out first. I stood waiting for assistance, and a staff member named Teri walked up, mumbled something, and immediately started to walk away. Because I couldn't hear her, I politely asked her to repeat herself. Teri responded with an incredibly dismissive attitude, acting as though asking for clarification was a major inconvenience. She then repeated, "You need to fill out the paper," speaking very condescendingly, as if I were unable to understand basic instructions. Even after I explained that I had never ordered a sandwich here before and simply didn't know the process, her attitude remained hostile. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and off-putting interaction. If it weren't for Anna completely turning my mood around at checkout per usual, I would have walked out incredibly frustrated. Management has a real gem in Anna, but they desperately need to address the customer service standards and basic courtesy at the deli counter.

Cod Liver oil is thought to be good for humans, so Planet Mom, who claims the stuff also tastes…read moregood, consumes a tablespoon daily. During Planet Mom's recent visit to Planet Lisa, Planet Mom expressed concern that she was running low on Cod liver oil. To prevent Planet Mom from going dry Planet Lisa provided this guest planet with a lift to the health food store. Kings Nutrition is located closest to Planet Lisa. While my planet has long been aware of the store's location adjacent to Planet Lisa's neighborhood, this was Planet Lisa's inaugural visit. As with all stores in this strip mall, parking is literally right in front of the door -- always a plus appreciated by the inhabitants of both Planet Mom and Planet Lisa. Before entering the store, a sign on the door greeted us with this message: "Blessed be all who enter here." I may not be quoting perfectly, but that's the drift. Ambassadors of Planet Mom and Planet Lisa were the only customers and therefore felt extra blessed. The store is not large. Probably the size of an average living room. It's packed with vitamins, supplements and books, and is well kept with its stock nicely displayed. Judging by the attitude and appearance of the pleasant graying woman behind the register, she appeared to be the Queen of King's Nutrition Center. She knew precisely where everything was and when the store had acquired it. If not King's queen, she is certainly King's princess. Prices seemed about average for smaller nutrition stores that tend a little to the high side. But Planet Lisa figures that what her planet saves on gas and time makes up for slightly higher prices provided just one or two items are being purchased. A large number of God-oriented books were prominently displayed. Planet Lisa did not determine whether a Christian or Eastern God was being touted because Planet Lisa's inhabitants are toasters -- meaning, we are either plugged in (alive) or unplugged (dead) -- and therefore religion, beyond what it offers to us in values and philosophically, holds little interest. Planet Lisa spent $30 because the ambassador spotted an impulse item to purchase for Planet Husband. The receipt header says: "King's Nutrition, God Bless You." Indeed. It's nice to be blessed when spending $30. In the future Planet Lisa will be expecting blessings from other businesses since even a toaster will take a blessing when parting with its money. This tiny little Nutrition Center is tucked into a strip mall also housing Round Table Pizza and the new SPCA thrift store. The mall is located on 5th Street across the street from the Gold Dust West Casino.
