Although I wanted to be a hater, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed exploring Erewhon…read moreand guzzling down the strawberry glaze smoothie. It is a bit surreal being in a grocery store where the mean/median/mode price of something is 10x what it'd be at a normal shop. There's a parking garage right next to this location, but there was also a good amount of street parking nearby. Staff was very friendly! I got an 8 oz. jar of the Summit Trail Mix, which I really liked! It's not too salty and the dried fruits complimented the almonds so well. Enjoyed it so much that I kinda wish I opted for the bigger jar. Also, on top of the already steep price, there's a $3 bottle deposit. Since it was my first time here, the cashier let me know that you can get your deposit back if you bring the bottles/jars back to the store. After making my trail mix purchase, I got the strawberry glaze smoothie. My smoothie was ready pretty quickly. I'm not a big strawberry-flavor lover, but I really enjoyed this smoothie. It was the perfect refreshing drink for hot weather and walking around. I also felt very fitting and pretentious taking sips of my smoothie while strolling around Melrose. I definitely have to go back next time I'm in LA.. to get my bottle deposit back of course..

Look, I debated whether this even deserved a review. But here we are…read more Erewhon is less a grocery store and more a lifestyle statement for people who want to be seen making lifestyle statements. The smoothie bar line is populated roughly 80% by people who saw it on someone's feed, cannot afford this on any kind of regular basis, and are here purely for the content. I include my daughter in this demographic, and I say that with love. She wanted the smoothie. She got the smoothie. Twenty one dollars. I watched her face carefully as she took the first sip. She is a good sport, I will give her that. The dedication to maintaining a positive expression in the face of what can only be described as expensive, vaguely flavored pudding of mysterious ingredients was genuinely impressive. You could tell exactly how much she loved it by how enthusiastically she offered to share it with everyone in the family. She did not ask for it back. Not once. I had been expecting $21 to produce something that would recalibrate my entire smoothie reference point. Instead it tasted like someone blended wellness buzzwords into a cup and forgot to add flavor. Crossed off the list. The hype machine is real, the smoothie is not. At least I now have an opinion based on actual evidence rather than someone's Instagram grid. My daughter has already moved on to the next thing. As she should. Was gonna be 0 stars - but its not allowed, so I added the star, as the service in this place is great and they are all very friendly. The lines are horribly long, and the place gets really crowded around the smoothie area - so if you are not in line, roam the store and stare at all the items that you will never want to buy at the prices they are listed at. Great thing was that we were headed to the Grove - which has some awesome places to eat in the farmers market, and we were able to refresh the taste buds there - along with some much needed retail therapy for the girls. NO PICS AS I DO NOT WANT TO SPREAD THE MADNESS !!

The process was definitely different from a regular doctor visit, but honestly, it was a really interesting experience. Since the practitioner doesn't speak English, I translated my symptoms into Chinese using Google Translate and showed him my phone. He checked my tongue and pulse very carefully before writing out a custom herbal tea prescription entirely in Chinese characters. You then take the prescription to the front counter where they prepare the herbs into 5 separate bags. Each bag lasts 2 days, and you boil the herbs for about an hour, strain the tea, and save the rest for the next day. I'm not going to lie -- the tea tastes STRONG. Very earthy, bitter, and honestly like dirt lol. Each boiled tea bag yields 24-32 oz. that needs to be consumed warm, preferably in one sitting after lunch. It was hard to drink, but after finishing my first cycle (10days) I noticed a huge improvement in my symptoms. They explained that most people do 2-3 cycles using the same prescription for full results. I genuinely feel a lot better. I paid $20 for consultation + $85 for the tea. If you use the prescription and 2nd time you only pay for the tea of $85. They take credit cards but there is a $6 transaction fee.

I absolutely love…read moreexploring grocery stores; each and every one is unique, has different deals, a different aesthetic, and select food. I like to walk around in them for fun all the time. So... take my review seriously!!! I tried almost all their food and can give a detailed rundown on each one. They have amazing, amazing, amazing food made with love here and employees that are incredibly kind and funny. They're welcoming and you can tell they really enjoy working at Rainbow Acres and want to spread good vibes. Their food is made in house, from scratch, exactly what it is. No food dyes or processing. Just fresh, straightforward food for a good price. RAINBOW ACRES MADE ME SHED A TEAR. I was so incredibly ecstatic to find an healthy, grocery CO-OP near me. The smoothies are great, they sometimes have samples. They're all delicious and they also can be paid with EBT. Their guac and chips was actually the best I've ever had from a grocery store. The guacamole had enough salt and lime, like... whole foods and chipotle guac was PUT TO SHAME. Well-seasoned, super chunky, cilantro, red onion, tomato, mmm, and those chips were actually fresh tortilla chips. So crunchy and light. So yum. God. Their sandwich was insane. Slices and heaps of chicken breast for double the price of a sprouts sandwich and quadruple times more tasty. Don't second guess it, just get it!!! BBQ chicken and ranch salad was insane. I ate it in like 10 mins and my stomach was bulging. When you see it, it will be irresistible. The grilled chicken is marinated and covered in a sweet bbq sauce and their housemade ranch is seasoned deeply, comparable to wingstop's ranch. Crunchy lil tortilla chips and crunchy salad with some roasted corn. Every single thing in that plate had its own flavor, unlike the prepackaged slop at other stores. However, it was close to $20... The fruit tart was FRESH and yummy, a tad sweet, but all the fruit was incredibly quality. The crust left a little to be desired, but great nonetheless. Their hot deli food is great too. We got a parm crusted chicken breast and it was very juicy and flavorful. The samples were great, even their curry is packed with flavor. Their turkey chili was insanely hearty and delicious, thankfully not too salty. chili mango is the best my boyfriend claims he's ever had. immense selection of unique canned and bottled drinks. They make their own green smoothies and juices in glass bottles, but there's also local branded magnesium teas, adaptogens, sparkling waters, etc. LOTS AND LOTS of vegan options. Great selection of teas and medicinal herbs and pure oils meant for the skin. I picked up some grapeseed oil and snacks. Some of the prices here are cheaper than whole foods, but some are more expensive. I really love Rainbow Acres, but some of their prices can be expensive. However, when factoring in the quality, freshness, and how the food is SIMPLE AND CLEAN AND HOPEFULLY AS ETHICAL AS IT CAN BE, it justifies the prices. The employees are always helpful, so it does help to imagine that the higher prices go to them as well. I'm really happy that this place exists. It's not pretentious and makes clean eating accessible for anyone.

Erin was especially resourceful in helping me boogie around the market and gather the items I needed in a pinch (the caviar my friend brought over that eve wouldn't have hit the same without this stop lol). If Whole Foods, Erewhon, the Farmers Market, and the Co-Op of Santa Monica had a reasonably affordable baby... it would be named Rainbow Acres

On the bright side, it easily made my top 10 most disgusting foods ever eaten in my life list. (Think 5-6th place easy.) As I unwrapped (had to fight from the heat and almost melted flour tortilla to separate from the packaging) the burrito looked like it had been put through a car wash, a soaked tortilla fused with the inside crap that was in it. Barely any eggs or cheese, nasty half-assed cooked potato pieces (of course plenty of that) and a feeling of hopelessness and self-guilt for spending 8 bucks on this garbage. Well, at least garbage was good once before it's thrown away. Stick to the blueberry muffins which are great, but this was so bad can't find words in a Thesaurus to describe the level of terribleness and inspired me to write this tragic review.

Overall, this is easily one of my go-to grocery stores in LA, and I literally stop by almost every day. The store is always organized, clean, and easy to shop. Not everything is organic, but they carry a lot of great products, and the overall selection is strong. I usually get my daily produce here, and I also buy wine here pretty often. The water refill area is always kept clean, which I appreciate, and their fresh juice section is one of my favorite parts of the store. The larger juices come in plastic, but the price on the orange juice is hard to beat, so I keep going back for it. I also like their prepared food section. During one stretch I was buying it pretty often and was always happy with the options, especially since a lot of the food avoids seed oils and uses grass-fed beef. They even have a live kitchen where you can sign up for classes and participate in food prep, which is a really cool touch and makes the store feel more thoughtful and community-oriented. The staff is another big plus. I've interacted with a lot of the cashiers and employees here, and they've all been sweet, personable, and genuinely pleasant to talk to. You can tell the people working here care and that the store is trying to offer a better experience. My only real issue is the meat and fish section. I've tried a lot from it over time--chicken breast, wings, ground wagyu, marinated items, branzino--and too often I've felt like I wasn't getting the freshest product. That's the one department that has consistently let me down. It's disappointing because the rest of the store is so strong. I also don't really understand why the wagyu ground beef costs almost double when it's formed into patties, but that's more confusing than a dealbreaker. At the end of the day, I still think Lazy Acres is one of the best grocery stores in LA, especially for convenience, cleanliness, product mix, and staff. But I've pretty much told myself to stop buying meat here, because for the same price I can get much better quality from a proper butcher. Since it's only a 3-minute walk from me, I'll absolutely keep coming back, just with a little more selectiveness about what I buy.

The employees were genuinely helpful and a cut above what you usually find at a grocery store -- and yes, you pay a premium for that. This is a great place to shop when you want high-end produce, meat, or fish. Would I do my weekly grocery shopping here? Probably not. But as a quality-focused stop, I really liked this store.
