Since the practitioner doesn't speak English, I translated my symptoms into Chinese using Google Translate and showed him my phone. He checked my tongue and pulse very carefully before writing out a custom herbal tea prescription entirely in Chinese characters. You then take the prescription to the front counter where they prepare the herbs into 5 separate bags. Each bag lasts 2 days, and you boil the herbs for about an hour, strain the tea, and save the rest for the next day. I'm not going to lie -- the tea tastes STRONG. Very earthy, bitter, and honestly like dirt lol. Each boiled tea bag yields 24-32 oz. that needs to be consumed warm, preferably in one sitting after lunch. It was hard to drink, but after finishing my first cycle (10days) I noticed a huge improvement in my symptoms. They explained that most people do 2-3 cycles using the same prescription for full results. I genuinely feel a lot better. I paid $20 for consultation + $85 for the tea. One of the employees explained the whole process to me, handed out a QR code with brewing instructions, and even charged my card to give me a twenty since the doctor only takes cash. He then writes a prescription on a piece of paper & uses his phone to translate the diagnosis. It took less than 5 minutes. Then you go the herbalist staff at the front counters & they give you the pricing for the treatment & you can decide if you want to do it or not. The treatment was $100 for mines & $90 for my moms. They take about 30 mins to prep the herbs & roots then explain the procedure & the process of how to make the teas. Cool experience! When I arrived, there were a a few people in line and I waited about 20 minutes. When it was my turn, he asked me to write my name, birthday, and sex. He checked my pulse, looked at my tongue, and quickly wrote something in Chinese. The entire interaction lasted only a moment. I tried to ask him a question about what he wrote, but he didn't answer. Instead, he raised his voice to tell me to take a picture of the diagnosis and asked me for $20. As I was leaving, another woman and I compared the pictures we were given. They were exactly the same--the same image and the same diagnosis. That made the whole experience feel very questionable and unprofessional. Even though the store is not that big, it carries a huge variety of herbs, remedies, and supplements. The staff are super friendly and informative. The store is located in Chinatown, so parking can be a challenge. The herbalist Dr. Su seems to be knowledgeable about herbs and the general remedies for common health issues. So it takes him like a couple minutes to check your pulse, look at your tongue, and write up the herbal recipe (like a prescription). Dr. Su is a man of few words. He doesn't really ask questions. Even though I can speak Chinese, I don't think I got more than 30 words out of him. Nothing bad. It's just his efficient style and the way he operates. He gets to business just like that and knows what he is doing. So for people who are looking for a herbalist who asks you a ton of questions to try to understand your specific conditions or concerns, you may be disappointed because aside from the few sentences of general issues shown to you on the phone (via Google Translate), you are not really going to get a detailed diagnosis of your particular situation. You will be in and out just like that. Most of the time will be spent waiting for your herbs to be packaged. So as long as you are ok with that type of bedside manner and are satisfied with a general style diagnosis, I think you will be happy with the prescribed herbs because the herbalist knows what he is doing. And this store uses the real herbs, not the powder or the tincture type. So what you are paying for is the hard core and natural bark, leaves, and herbs that for the most part turn into a pretty bitter and strong medicinal tea. It's $20 to be examined by the herbalist and the herbal packages are priced based on the ingredients. On the average, it's about $20 per bag, and each bag is for two portions. So 5 bags would be for 10 days because you basically reboil each bag. I went to four other places in the same area and all others either did not carry all the herbs, couldn't read or understand the characters of the Chinese written prescription, or didn't have the means to properly prepare the medication. With one look of the Rx FiFi and Angela immediately said they had all that was needed and began preparing the treatment ingredients. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and was relieved when I didn't see a huge line. We waited for maybe a max of 20 min before we were seen by the man doing the consults. I've been to several places that do herbal teas and they always check your tongue pulse all of that but not here. All he did was ask what my issues were and check my pulse. It was $15 to consult and another $80 for the herbs. I did notice that what he said was wrong with me was exactly what he had told the other girl. And I know this because the recorded response that I saw on his phone when I initially sat down did not change. I'm trying to not judge it too quickly until I finish trying the teas. I went here about a month ago for severe sinus pressure. I've struggled with sinuses for a while now and have done the Western medicine recommendations: Neti pot, nasal spray, daily allergy pill, etc. I've even been give antibiotics and what not. A couple years ago, that would help me, but I have struggled with this for too long and felt like it's more than just seasonal allergies. So I found this location through TikTok and decided to try it out. As the other reviews mention, it is a traditional Chinese medicine/herbs store. It is tucked in between a couple other stores but you can see the name of the store above the entrance. There is a parking lot around back that has parking or you can park on the street, if it's available. There is a language barrier as most of the employees speak Chinese and very little English but if you're patient and persistent, you'll be able to communicate and they'll be able to communicate to you. When I went the first time, I told him I was here from TikTok and he had understood and had me wait to see the doctor. The doctor visit is about 10 minutes depending on the translations. You sit with the doctor, he will ask you to stick out your tongue, then ask to feel your pulse in your right hand, then your left. The first doctor spoke a bit of English and explained, using a written out template of English translation words, what he felt in my body and what was going on. The first time he told me I had fire and wind. So I looked that up online and it has to do with my lungs and my heart. (Side note: I just got some blood work back and I have really high cholesterol, so that could be something he felt). He prescribed me a tea for my sinus pressure and after day 3, I no longer felt the pressure in my head! The next time I went, I went for a cough and phlegm I had been struggling with for a couple weeks. the doctor had to use his phone to translate and then I used my phone to translate, his translation. And he mentioned wind again as well as poor lungs. I am currently on day 5 of drinking the tea and I don't have the dry cough anymore!! The tea is not flavorful and yummy. It's medicinal herbs that are meant to help heal your body and ailments. They have rules: eat before you make the tea, do not drink it in the morning or evening, and drink two glasses per day.
