We have been of customers Gottier Plumbing & Heating AND their Oil service for well over 35 years;…read morethey have been there for us when we've needed them and they have provided excellent service and support. 2 months (December) after we moved into our house in Vernon, CT, many years ago, our furnace needed to be replaced. We reached out to Gottier, a local Oil/Plumbing & Heating company. They came right out and replaced the furnace and put us on a payment plan. Very easy and excellent work. Well, 37 years later, we found ourselves needing to replace that furnace. We called Gottier. We didn't even get a 2nd opinion because we didn't want to use someone else. They gave us another great payment plan and came out to install the furnace. When they left that afternoon we had a new furnace and everything was cleaned up as if they hadn't even been there. Unfortunately, they didn't clean up the rest of the basement so we're going to have to do that ourselves! Lol. When I lost my job a few years ago it happened to coincide with an increase in oil prices and our monthly budget payment was going to increase significantly. I called Gottier and told them that I had lost my job and the woman I spoke to was just so sympathetic and adjusted our budget plan so that we could afford it until I found another job. Her last words to me as we hung up: "Promise me that when you get another job you'll call and we can adjust the amount to reflect the increase." I promised and 6 weeks later, I called her to tell her of my new job. She was so excited for me! And for Gottier, of course! What's prompting me to put this in a review today? Well, a couple of days ago we got a phone call from Eric at Gottier fuel telling us that, as we could imagine, given the state of the world, oil prices were going to go up. We had a scheduled delivery 2 days hence. He was calling because he wanted us to know that the prices were going up so we wouldn't be shocked. That's amazing customer service for sure! They are so kind, so helpful and so understanding. If you're looking for an oil company and or a heating and plumbing company, you certainly cannot go wrong with Gottier.

A person was there within the hour to see the situation. The next day, we got our new sump pump, and the cleanup crew started. The crew did a magnificent job. The water was gone and the basement dried out by their equipment. Moreover, they carted away all the destroyed items a few days later. Best of all, Roto Rooter filed the insurance claim, and I was freed of having to do the negotiating and paperwork. Some reviews say their service is pricey. I don't know who else would have done such a great and thorough job for less. This was a blessing.

No call back after a full week. I finally schedule service and the first service tech is unable to resolve the issue and says he will need to order parts. I get a date when they will come back and end up with a service tech that replaces the faucet and shower head and leaves me with a dripping shower faucet and a hole in the wall that I tells me I need to get an access cover with no real details. He also tells me that since they can't replace the fixtures in my bathroom sink I need to purchase a new vanity and faucet. Mind you over the several days that it took to come out the second time these items could have been ordered and at my home or ready for pick up. On the scheduled day of the third appointment I get a call as I am leaving work to get home for the service that indicates the service tech has an emergency and can't make it. On the fourth day I get several calls from scheduling about where to pick up the items I ordered and then finally requesting the order number. Two techs arrive to install the new vanity and faucet. During the install they started talking about me or another customer while in my bathroom. After all this they try to convince me that my shower faucet isn't leaking and then say if it starts to they can come back. In addition after they left I found two of my towels balled up on the floor wet and with debris in them. They never asked to use these towels for this purpose. My shower faucet is still dripping. At least I have new fixtures and a new vanity.

The bathroom took time - with snow storms causing a minor delay, a long freeze requiring their plumbers to address other customer's emergencies - but it is gorgeous! We love our new master bathroom. The plumber who was difficult to understand said that it was plumbed incorrectly and he would have to re-pipe in the basement and that it was too late to do that day so he would have to come back another day. Since this has been working for over 80 years, I felt that the more likely scenario was an issue with the mechanism within the tank. At around 4pm, the same person/receptionist that I had spoken with, called and asked for payment of $165 dollars. I provided the credit card and made the payment. I explained that although I am not a plumber, I wanted to better understand the problem prior to paying and additional $500. She said that she understood my concerns and would have someone call me Friday. Of course I was not called. They demonstrated urgency in securing payment for the call fee and half-hour minimum, however, their performance in meeting agreed-upon obligations was lacking.
