It's been years since I have been in Sample House, walking into this store, it's exactly as I…read moreremember - but better! Beautifully decorated and arranged in such a pleasing way. Huge selection of candles, holiday decor, and bags. It was so much fun walking around the store. The staff was nice, and when I asked question they were polite when answering.

I have been a regular, devoted, and enthusiastic customer of this store since 2018. Today was my…read morelast day to shop here, my decision. Let me preface this by saying that I worked in retail and high end retail for app 10 years total. Even working a minimum wage retail job in college, I would have been FIRED, no warning, no job retraining, nothing, just fired on the spot, get your stuff and leave now fired if I had dared to treat any customer the way I was treated today, making a total purchase of approximately $525 in about an hour ( I am a very fast and efficient shopper). The head person (not manager because this woman said her manager instructed her to treat customers like this) treated me like I was a criminal and a shop lifter, like I was going to steal their shit to trade for meth. I finally felt so insulted that I said to this old skinny blonde Nazi, "I didn't realize I was in a police station." Very clearly; she heard me the first time and another employee overheard. This Aryan stork said that she had never seen me in this store before, when I have been in that very same store 5 to 6 times this very year, including today's visit where I dropped a wad of $525! There is a super nice lady named Connie who works here; I remember Connie from way back and she remembered me. What is even more baffling: all these small brick and mortar stores are not only competing against Amazon BUT they are also now competing against the many small boutique online stores through Shop. And prices of many items in Sample house are not competitive with Amazon pricing and not even competitive with small online boutique pricing on Shop. Also re some of their cute "nostalgia" cottage core items: just go on Ebay and get the real thing for a steal. The store was not busy when I was there at about 11:45; other customers were purchasing 2 or 3 items or just looking; I was clearly their jackpot customer of the day. When I worked in high end retail and we saw a customer was going all out, we made a little celebration out of it with all the employees pitching in to help the customer and to help each other with tasks. This blonde Nazi needs to get into another line of work altogether! Customer service in retail is NOT her bag and I suspect NOTHING in customer service is her bag. Also, I was wearing very expensive new workout/yoga matching jacket and pants from a very high end retailer: meth addicts trying to shoplift stuff don't dress like this because they can't afford it and it would call too much attention to them. I am not adding this detail to be a snob (I bought the outfit on clearance) but to demonstrate how terribly this woman is misreading cues: she was definitely annoyed that I kept going to the back of the store and boy did she keep her eye on me!!! She practically accused me of trying to steal stuff by hiding it in an inexpensive gift bag, which I planned to purchase, when I was just trying to keep some smaller items organized!!! Talk about the Nazi Institute of Retail Management! I explained to the entire staff that I like buying all my gifts at one time to cover multiple holidays and birthdays: I already have most of my Christmas shopping done at end of April! Also, I explained I was buying gifts for an aunt going through a tough time in physical rehab, for my cousin who has an ongoing physical illness and for my 94 year old mother. The ideal customer base for this sort of store, right? Not according to the Nazi. Never coming back: can get same or similar stuff on Amazon, through stores on Shop and on Ebay.

Like the Bishop Arts store, this is easily one of the best smelling shops I've ever entered. The…read moreminute I opened the door the great scent just drew me into the shop. Upon entering there were candles, candles and more candles. I usually frequent the Bishop Arts location but getting there is challenge due to the construction in the area. Also, since I was in the area doing some other things I decided to stop into this location. While the layout of the two stores is similar, this location is more spacious which allows more for more comfortable shopping experience during the busy periods. Also, because of the larger space, they have more product in the store and ready for purchase. Something to note is that while both locations carry the same items; because of demographics availability of certain items may be more readily available at one location than the other. Thankfully, my two favorite candles were in stock making my trip a success. The staff as this location are very welcoming and friendly. The person I worked with was very helpful in pointing out the candles I went for. Of the my two, I was worried that they didn't have one of them and she pointed to where they were and explained the labeling has changed which is why I walked right past them. Having covered a few of the similarities between the two locations; one area where they differ is parking. This location has a huge parking lot (it is shared with other businesses in the area) has plenty of parking. While I don't mind street parking (and walking), there is something to be said for a parking lot as it adds a level of convenience to the shopping experience. Because this was my first visit (I was unsure of the exact location amongst all the other shops), I ended up parking a distance away from the shop and walking to it. I will probably continue to do that as it allows me to still get the walking experiencing. If you're not into walking there are plenty of spaces right in front of the shop. I have been a huge fan of Society and their awesome candles for a few years. While this was my first visit to this location it will not be the last; I foresee many more visits in the future. If you are wanting some nice smelling candles or looking for a unique gift for someone I highly recommend you 'check-in' to Society.

I wasn't sure if it was a home decor shop or just candles, as I found out they are also a design company. Turns out this is their second location, the first being in the Bishop Arts District of Dallas. This is just a candle boutique, not a home decor or design store. But the owners are designers and have an office elsewhere, if I understood correctly. I loved the look of the store and the salesperson was friendly and helpful. Their candles are pricy but LOVE all the scents and they make a great gift. Oh and I had to buy one for me too! I asked the salesgirl what scent was the most popular and she said No. 2 so that is what I bought for both me and my sister. She wrapped my sister's in a separate bag with tissue so my gift was ready to go! She also gave us tips on how to burn our candles-first time let them burn for 2-3 hours so they burn evenly and don't "hollow" out. Also cut the wick next time I use. I love my candle, I am burning it now! And my sister loved hers too! Will be back, this store is unique!

I've been wanting to try something that's long lasting and is also safe to use on my clothes, sheets, and blankets, but also a little bit more luxurious. Customer service here was OK. I did have to wait around a bit after being introduced to the detergent and how to order them with scent. However, once I place an order, it was pretty quick for them to make which I was a little cautious about because the signs did say it takes about 15 to 20 minutes, so hopefully my detergent is all good when I put it to use. I love the fact that you can smell a difference, body soaps to get an idea of The said that you want your laundry detergent to smell like which is what I did. It makes it more personable and obviously a more luxurious experience than picking up detergent at target for example. When you do bring the bottle of powder detergent, back to the store, you get a discount on your refill, which is really great. Depending on how it goes I'll definitely come back to do a refill and try some other items especially as we get closer to the holiday season!!

They seem to always have a sale going on and the employees are always very friendly and helpful. I have sprung for some of their laundry detergents, and dryer balls, and it's amazing how nice everything smells even days later coming out of the closet. I didn't know this the first time I bought the wool dryer balls is that you bring them back to the store to get re-scented. Cool, right! They even just launched a liquid laundry detergent which I will definitely purchase soon. They are fully on the fall bandwagon with pumpkin spice, so I bought some lotion today. Smells and feels so nice! I'm a huge fan of this place. I recommend coming in and sniffing everything to find your favorite flavor. This is also a great place to pick up a gift for a friend!
