Instead of noticing (full time hostess in the immediate area), automatically reseating us, apologizing and telling the man that is NOT okay to vape in the restaurant I had to flag a server down and let them know that we wanted a different table. Pretty good service but I really thought that that was a gross oversight on part of the restaurant like indoor smoking is illegal in the first place and vaping really isn't any better (arguably worse depending on what scientific data you're looking at), plenty people have respiratory issues and just preference period. No one should be forced to sit anywhere where a no vaping policy isn't being enforced in 2026. Really disappointed that I can't give this place a higher than a three star rating as a result because the food is pretty good and the servers were quick and pleasant, but the smoking issue to me is a gross oversight as far as basic customer service goes. People shouldn't be made to feel like they're being weird for wanting a different table because they don't want to be surrounded by anything but oxygen, Do better folks. I'd expect to see this bookstore cafe in somewhere like in Ogunquit, Burlington, Bar Harbor, Austin, or Asheville? Super cute place with an interesting, eclectic selection of used books. They have a little coffee shop/cafe at the front - and there's an area where they have talks and live music on certain days. The people who work there are so incredibly friendly and helpful. I think there's a cute little outdoor area, but it was closed last time I visited. Hope to drop by here next time I'm in Staten Island!
