Consistently great beverages here. I love the smoothness of the drinks which always seem to be less bitter, less caffeinated, and less sugary than Starbucks without really sacrificing any flavor. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by any drink on the menu and more often than not, am pleasantly surprised with any new flavor combinations I try. I also love their consistently friendly and quick-ish service, with a much more personalized experience than going to a much busier coffee shop. read more

Sanitation - they have a small tray table in front of the store where they have sample drinks but it was just a liquid mess everywhere from people being slobs. Not inviting at all. Then the lady making drinks had a fit at a customer who took an empty paper cup to pour a kids soda in while she was waiting for her coffees to be made. Not good customer service. read more

Gloria Jean's .... one of the few stores that still I go to at the mall. One thing that hasn't changed over the years is the aroma of the many blends of coffee that greets you when entering the store. When I'm looking for a unique coffee cup for a present of just need a caffeine fix, Gloria Jean's is my go to place at the mall. Consistently delicious! It doesn't matter which item I order, but I usually get a regular sized English toffee chiller with extra coffee (no whip, no sauce). The associates are very friendly and always willing to make recommendations and assist. The shop is always clean and well organized. They have a wide variety of mugs, carafes, and tea pots too!! I had fun times here with Angela P! We came here to relax and kill some time before a local Yelp event. I originally ordered a particular drink that I can't remember anymore, but I ended up with an english toffee chiller. Even though it wasn't what I ordered, it was fabulous. There was a bit of a misunderstanding and somehow my order got lost, but hey mistakes happen and they were really apologetic about it. My drink was pricey, even more expensive then Starbucks, but I knew what I was getting into. I'd definitely recommend coming here to try one of these drinks! read more

The only thing I hate about Gloria Jean's is that it is in the mall! And this mall is out of my way! Arghh. But when I do come to this mall, you know I have to stop here and get my coffee on. Once I walk into the mall, this is the very first place I visit. I mean, how can you expect me to do my shopping without a hot cup of joe in my hands? Some of their frozen drinks are way to sweet for my taste, but I won't hesitate to sample my mom's frozen delicacy. A few sips are fine, but a whole drink is a bit much for me. I love their drip coffee. It's roasted perfectly, not too strong, not bitter, just perfect. Then you pair the drip coffee with my go-to drink - the cafe au lait - and I'm in coffee heaven. If I had to choose a reason why I LOVE this place though, would be for it's flavored coffees. They have a great selection and they change through the seasons. The displays of mugs and coffee to purchase always have me perusing. I have bought my fair share of mugs from here. They are just so cute, I can't resist sometimes. The staff always seem helpful and courteous. They will offer you samples of what they've got brewing to help you make the best educated decision for your coffee drinking pleasure. I have very fond memories of this place as a kid, as my mom had to stop in at gloria jeans virtually every time she visited to get a cappuccino. I still distinctly remember the intoxicating smell of this coffee house long before starbucks came along. I usually go to the mall around or before noon, so this is where I head as soon as I walk in. I very rarely get anything besides a coffee, so I can't really rate their barista-skills, but the few times I have gotten some kind of mocha/latte drink it was very good. My favorite thing about Gloria Jeans--and why I love it so much--is their flavored coffee. I usually don't like flavored coffee because the flavor ends up being too strong and cloying, but I love the balance of their flavored coffee! You never really know what flavors you're going to find, so there's that element of surprise for those who like it. Today I went and they didn't really have a flavor that appealed to me, but that's fine because I know that I can always just go with their original/house/whatever blend and it'll be awesome, not bitter, not strong, not weak, but awesome. The service there is also prompt and friendly, and I love the fact that they're not always pushing me to buy and try things, but are also wonderful at making suggestions and talking me through some of their products if, and when, I'd like them to. I love this place. The only thing I don't like, and it's not their fault, is that the yelp app has refused to let me check in several times, telling me I'm too far away while I stand in the middle of the store! Why must the receive ANY stars?!? I placed an order, the CASHIER upsold me by saying "for $.40 more, you can get a medium." To which I agreed. My NEW total was $6.04. I handed her (2) five dollar bills and 4 pennies; she then asked me if I had anything smaller than a 5 dollar bill because "I don't have any change to give you". I said, "no but hang on...I'll give you (4) quarters...and you can give me one of my 5's back." To which she responded "no. I have to refund you all together...." she then handed my my money back & stood there. I asked if I could pay with my card, and she just stood there, then after about 20 seconds of awkward silence she said "sorry?" I asked if my order was cancelled, or if I could pay a different way, and she responded "its already cancelled". I left, no drink in hand. Called the store to ask to speak to the manager, and to no surprise...there was no manager. When I asked for the number to their customer service, they said "you'll need to look that up online." I did that. I called the customer service number, inside business hours & I got a voice mail... ** The Custer service department reached out 3 business days later...... Offered, nothing but a poor excuse for an apology. read more

I love Gloria Jean's coffee, and I've always preferred it over Starbucks. Gloria Jean's shops reminds me of my childhood, because every year my dad and I would purchase a cute mug for my mom's collection, and then my mom would always purchase a bag of coffee beans for her friend who moved to Seattle. Then, a boy I had a crush on in junior high told me how amaaaazing this "Mint Bomb Chiller" thing was. It was the only thing I ordered there for several years. Cut to yesterday - just killing some time with my bud Courtney, we stopped in for some coffees. We were the only people in the shop aside from one other lady. She ordered a Mocha Coconut Chiller, and I the English Toffee Chiller (it's time to start switching it up - that was like 15 years ago). Time passed. I mean, a LOT of time passed. Courtney's drink, or what we thought was Courtney's drink, came up first. A lot more time passed, and I finally went to the counter and asked the girl if my drink was ready. She looked startled, frightened almost, and then asked another girl about my drink. It felt like a hidden camera, blooper, kind of moment. They apologized and re-made my drink. But Courtney received my drink, even though she ordered first. So they botched her drink and forgot about mine. At least they were apologetic and seemed embarassed at their mistake. I think if we'd been more confrontational or demanding, they'd have re-made both drinks. Coffee was still really good, but I suggest you pay close attention and wait at the counter so they don't forget about you in a crowd of...oh, zero. read more

The smell of a Gloria Jeans brings me to a place of wonderment. They have mastered the art of flavored coffee here. I'm usually not one for a flavored varietal but at GJ, it becomes a dessert without te calories! From Butter Toffee, French Vanilla Supreme, Swiss Chocolate they all are a delight to the senses. They also have a great varieties of teas, hot cocoas and gift items. The staff is extremely helpful and nice and knows their product. They also have locations at Yorktown and the Louis-Joilet mall. read more

This is the worst coffee shop that I have ever been too. Before I finished paying, the cashier said, "Just to let you know the wait is about 20 minutes for your drink". I look over and there are at least 8 people standing there. 1 cashier, 2 Baristas during the post-holiday season. I'm not really sure how management thought this would be acceptable? The cashier was stocking straws or coffee packets while customers were waiting to waiting to order. The barista who was making iced drinks must not have known what she was doing. She was just pouring milk and the iced drink extract into the blender. While she was blending, she just stood there and waited. You have a board full of drinks and you are just staring at the wall? The Barista who was on the espresso machine was making drinks in any order that he saw. Two people came in saying they ordered 15 minutes ago and were told to come back in that time. Once they came back they waited at least another 10 minutes. One of my drinks were made, the other took an extra 10 minutes. After waiting close to 25 minutes, the drink was lukewarm. Tips 1. Properly train your employees and teach them about deployment. 2. Write a schedule that will be able to suit the store and let it run efficiently. 3. Post recipes sheets on something other than post-it notes. 4. If someone orders a Frap, have the cashier ask if they want Whipped Cream. 5. First In, First Out. Not Last In, First Out... You basically let your Baristas go skydiving without a parachute. This is why Starbucks is the industry standard. read more

Just leaving this review here to let every consumer that plans on buying from this chain that an employee there used and stole my credit card information to order some pizza to this store. Not only do I live halfway across the country so it was clearly fraud but then when I called to confront the issue, I was told I was speaking to a manager who then kindly hung up on me. Next time you steal a credit card I highly suggest don't order take out to your place of work. And next time you hire your employees/managers, maybe make sure they're not criminals? I really only like Starbucks for a latte. While shopping in Fox valley mall I discovered my Starbucks kiosk is gone!!!!!!!!!! #CapitalWTF #NoTheyDidnt which meant I had no choice but to settle for Gloria Jeans. I've gotten way too many bad lattes from Gloria Jeans in the past at the Joliet Location which has me jaded. There is some new concept where the old Starbucks is, but I'm not interested to try it. Maybe next time, but I wasn't trying to be adventurous. #NotTodayB*tches My Boyfriend was going for that awful Sleigh ride drink he likes to get at Gloria jeans which doesn't taste good to me. I absolutely hate Gloria Jeans mint syrup. It leaves this lingering aftertaste that I just can't deal with. It tastes like mouthwash!! #Dramatic I opted for the sugar cookie latte. The bar was set extremely low based on past visits at Gloria Jeans, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It was so yummy!! Gloria Jeans is also offering a cold blended version which I'll give a shot next time. I do think the people that work here need way more personality. They might have been tired. They just gave me a bunch of blank stares. #FlatLine Which is why I love Starbucks. Everyone there is always so friendly! Lack of training on new employees, no one really understand or take serious about your orders... They are even no longer selling Espresso beans!!! I was so happy to find a Gloria Jean's coffee! When i was growing up, there was one at Northbrook Court and I loved walking in there. It was my go-to place to get the small 1/4 lb bags of different flavored coffee for my parents during the holidays. It was delicious, affordable, and the best way for me to stretch out the limited funds that I had. Their favorite flavors included caramel nut and irish cream, so for nostalgia's sake, I picked up those today. I remember the coffee having a very smooth finish (I loved it with cream and sugar) and I am sure that I will not be disappointed with my very first cup in a long while. Yippee! read more
