I was hungry and managed to lose the subway station today (how can one misplace a building?!). I think I was just famished. Luckily, when I smelled a waft of bacon and sausage, it wasn't a trick of my mind - The Globe was there to rescue me over the road.
Just round the corner from Kinning Park Subway station, it's in a good location for workers in the local factories and businesses if they fancy a good fry up in the morning. There's a big enough seating area which stretches out to the back of the shop but the main selling point for me is that they do tea for 70 pence! That is exactly what I want to hear when I'm needing a brew.
It seems friendly and family orientated - they lady's wee girl was back from school and helped me with directions! It's a chilled out but cozy place to grab a seat and a hot drink. There's a healthy selection of food and sandwiches all for very affordable prices.
I love cafe's like this because they aren't run as a self-conscious, glaringly new trendy Wifi-cocktail-cafe/bar. Such places are starting to give me a headache so it's nice to visit somewhere a bit more community orientated rather than another faceless, corporate coffee house. It's laid back, grounded and cheap - so you can relax here in all senses of the word. And the woman's wee girl was really animated and adorable, so I left with a smile on my face. read more
