The interior is light and spacious, with nice comfy seats and tables along the windows where you can watch the world go by over a coffee, as well as more conventional seating and tables for more serious eating tasks. The menu is slightly better than the usual standard cafe fare, and reasonably priced too. I only had time for a quick lunch, and the soup and sandwich deal arrived quickly and was just the job. I didn't try the coffee on this occasion, but I certainly intend to return to rectify that omission soon. Free Wi-Fi too!

The shop is really quite big with a good amount of tables and a few comfy couches. The cakes ... well they look AMAZING!! All very clearly labelled with what ingrediants are in them however sadly not a cake available for my gluten free tum. They dont have a big food menu. Soup, paninis and jacket potatoes but thats not 2hat they are about. Here its all about the cake!! I was able to have the pistachio macaroons though which were so lovely. When I sauntered up to the counter, I was greeted by a lovely server behind the counter who was happy to engage in a wee bit of banter. Unfortunately, they didn't have any non-dairy alternatives to milk, so I couldn't have a hot chocolate, but as they had a nice selection of tea I wasn't too bothered. Confronted with the choice of so many beautifully presented home made desserts, I was stumped. After ogling the plethora of dainty delectables behind the glass for some time, I finally ordered me a nice Caramel Apple Pie and a strawberry / mango tea and settled to chill out with my book for a wee while. Total price? The handy dandy price of £3! Fantastic! According to the shop window, this lovely new establishment also provides cakes to order, including wedding cakes. Although it is a little bit more spacious than the parent 'bakehouse' in Dennistoun, this place somehow fails to achieve the same ambience for me. Maybe it's the higher windows, maybe it's because the space is finished to a higher standard, or maybe it's just the Feng-Shui... I don't know. I still prefer going to Dennistoun if I can (it's also easier to park the car over there!). But it's still Tapa, it still has the fantastic Tapa bread and goodies, and they still do a great Long Black. If you're anywhere in the vicinity, it's worth stopping off here.

The staff, the atmosphere, the coffee. :)…read more Milk is pretty local to me, I often walk past it doing our weekly shop, located on Victoria road between Lidl and Queen's Park station which is the perfect excuse to pop in for a wee coffee on our way home on a Sunday afternoon. I've never stayed for food, although it's definitely on my list! The menu sounds fab to get a nice wee lunch. I have however had numerous coffees and a few slices of cake and they're always lovely. A great flat white, and they're always served in cute little tea cups. I've never had the same one twice. I love the attitude of Milk and the girls who run it, it's a social enterprise to supporting Asylum seeking woman. What's better than great coffee for a great cause! They also run events with different charities and organisations, and get really involved in helping their local community. I'm really looking forward to starting a sewing club at Milk next month with The Real Junk Food Project and Learn to Sew Glasgow, a great example of their community work. The girls that work there are always incredibly friendly and welcoming, it's the sort of place you could loose an afternoon sitting by the window watching the world go by... :)

The range and quality of sandwiches is good, the pizzas and nachos are really nice, the staff are fantastic. They've done up their back garden and it's now a lovely place to sit out when it's sunny, with proper comfy seats and tables. Since we started going back, we've actually met some of the other ex-Beanscene regulars who also stopped going around the same time we did, but who are starting to go back now too. And it's starting to feel more like part of the Shawlands community again - they occasionally have local musicians in, one time we were in there was a guy with a guitar, just singing a few songs in the corner, and it's the regular meeting of a bunch of gamers who sit up the back and play board games. My only tiny gripes are that the quality of the coffee can vary depending on which barista is making it and I'd like to see a few more evening food options, but Norval has really started to hit its stride as a great value coffee shop which is becoming a central part of the Shawlands community once again.
