I like this place but the problem is if you call for a time it does not mean anything: so I guess I am writing just to flag this for any working person. I will try to come in at lunch or similar time frame, then there is a 30 min wait, the exact same as a walk in. So again, fine but customers need to know: you can't call and have an actual time despite being told you do. This has been going on for years and I keep getting burned by it thinking maybe it's just the person on the phone or what have you... I have now walked in, sat and then left the last 1/2 dozen visits, waste of time that I would do another errand like pick up dry cleaning or get an Rx... I absolutely love the staff at Glitters nail salon! They are so nice and they do a really thoughtful job with nails and waxing. My gel manicures from them have lasted longer than any other salon. I noticed that they also do 6-7 coats of polish and two coats of the final polish, demonstrating a really thorough job! Lisa did my nails today and she was an absolutely delightful person! The woman who did my eyebrows also did a meticulous job, spending about 20 minutes on them. They have installed plastic shields between each nail station and the pedicure stations to comply with COVID-19 social distancing measures. As usual the folks at Glitters made my daughter's and my nails look fabulous! We made a reservation for basic mani/pedis but added to it when we arrived and they were super nice and accommodating. I was recently in the salon when a mother came in to discuss how her young child left with a second degree burn due to equipment issues. The salon was more concerned with it being posted on social media, and wanted to speak with her outside so other customers didn't hear. I will NEVER return to this poor excuse of an establishment. DO. NOT. GO. HERE. This was my first time getting a manicure here and it was by far the WORST manicure I've ever had. Not only did the woman cut my finger and make me bleed, hours after leaving my light pink color started to turn a burnt orange color. The tech who took me had been reading a magazine when I got there and went back to her magazine after so I don't think she was in a hurry. But I ended up more polish on my cuticles than my nails. I went here for the first time about 3 weeks ago (I live around the corner but usually get my nails done near my office in Cambridge). I got a regular gel manicure and it was mediocre. Usually a good one lasts me about 2.5 weeks with no peeling but this was peeling around the edges after about 5 days. She also rushed through it so the edges were all uneven. If i could give this place Zero i would. I came in at 2, for an appointment. Was not seen til about 2:50. Some how my toes were done by 3:10. Talk about awful. I've been going to Glitters all my life. Even after I moved out of Charlestown, in my search for THE next nail spot, I just keep on finding myself driving half an hour over to Glitters. I've been to wayy too many other "highly reviewed" salons, but none of them can ever compare to Glitters. dont ever bother with the nail salon thats right next door to Glitters or the one thats across the street from the middle school. You can't beat the manicure and pedicure price and quality here. I have been to many gorgeous spas and left disappointed with the service. This is definitely a no frills nail salon, but it is clean, affordable and they do a great job. They also have tanning, although not the most up to date, I believe the bulbs must be changed as necessary. I used it before a vacation and got the color I wanted. A hidden gem in Charlestown within walking distance of my home. It gets 5 stars, because it is clean, affordable and the service is fantastic! I have gotten 2 pedicures since moving to the area and will definitely be a repeat customer. There's no need to make appointments, but it's definitely worth calling ahead to see how long the wait is (if there is any). What I especially like is that they actually listen to you and do what you want. I don't like my cuticles trimmed (because they grow back) and always mention this when getting pedicures. Some technicians "forget" and apologize, but few actually listen and just push them back. Tammy, who did both my pedicures, listened and did exactly what I asked. My roommate and I went in and was told it would be a 20 minute wait. which we were okay with seeing as though we wen doing the run around on a Sunday trying to find a nail salon to do two fills. After waiting a half hour a woman came in and was recognized by what seemed to be the manager or the head manicurist. The head manicurist said "2 minutes" and took the walkin customer BEFORE us. Horrible service. My first review is apparently too long so it ended up in not recommended. Had a full set of acrylics done. The guy started cutting without asking how long I wanted them. He cut too short. Put two on crooked. Hurt me very rough and cut my finger. Pedicure was rushed and rude. Zero soaking time.Refused to work on my mild callus. I felt intimidated and that isn't like me at all but that man was actually bullying me. When I complained to the owner she was not just rude but extremely rude. This was my very first time there and I couldn't have been more pleasant. Guess they only respect you if you have a snobby entitled air. I saw some of those there lol. I gave Glitters three tries, but I can never go back. If you're looking for quick and dirty, this is exactly that. I've never seen anyone sanitize any tools and no one wears gloves. The last time I went it seemed cleaner so I decided to give it another chance. All 3 times I was cut multiple times and my cuticles bled. It's just not worth the risk for me anymore! A regular mani is $14. Picking out my color, I had to completely bend over someone having their nails done to reach the polishes. It's uncomfortable for both parties. The file job and paint jobs are also sloppy. The hand dryers have this foam in them that is completely ripped apart. I want to love this place because the location is so convenient, but it's not worth the risk of me contracting a disease and being in pain from multiple cuts every time I go! read more

I like this nail salon a lot. The staff are always very friendly and the prices here are fair. I tend to make appointments in advance (they are honored but sometimes you have to wait a little bit.) I have met with several of their team members over the last few months, and each time have been very satisfied with my gel mani's and standard pedi's. I do wish they had more Essie gel colors though :) I def recommend making an appointment though- they are a busy salon! If and when possible, I try to go on Saturdays at 9:30 right when they open but summer time makes that a bit more challenging. read more

I used to love this place but it really is not worth anyone's time. The chairs don't have massagers half of the time, and recently I went it and my toe nail was severed in half. I mean the girl went in and chopped off my pinky toe nail into the bed and I was profusely bleeding during my pedicure. Definitely NOT the place you want an open wound. Not exceptionally clean and if you want a mani pedi, they do your manicure (a shoddy, messy job) WHILE your pedicure is occuring, without asking. I will Never ever ever go back. Overall a decent place for a manicure or pedicure. They also offer tannng but their booths are ancient. The staff is friendly and I have never had to wait very long. My only complaint is that they close at 7pm during the week. It would be nice if they stayed open until 8pm a couple of nights a week for those of that get stuck at work late a lot. read more

I went inside the salon and immediately felt bombarded with questions. And a lady kept touching me to pick a color. Already feeling overwhelmed and attacked the same lady lead me to one of the chairs(for a pedicure). The water was already full, I'm not sure if it was reused. I had a previous gel pedicure so she had to take it off. She used a knife shape tool take it off, which I thought it was strange. She stabbed me with the knife like figure under my nail and it hurt. I decided to leave because I didn't trust the place. Now my nail color is chipped off.I have never experienced this in my life. What ever you do DON't come to this place in Boston. read more
