We enjoyed our first visit to this very nice Glenview Community Ice Center.  A major $30 million renovation was completed on it back in 2020, but I never saw the former facility, only the current brand newish state.  It has two NHL sized hockey rinks and a 2nd floor grandstand along with a small bar for one of the rinks.  It also has a pro shop, training rooms, and offers the usual skating classes and hockey programs.  They currently have a couple hours of public skating during each day of the week and that's what the grand-darlings and their mom came in for during a school holiday today and we took the opportunity to visit.  They have a family pass and it only takes 3.5 visits to break even on that pass, so it's a good deal at a first rate facility.  Visiting here brought back memories of the many hours we spent in the stands of the Skokie Skatium ice arena and a Houston ice arena as the parents of a youth figure skater, and I can attest that this is a very nice facility.  Big thumbs up! read more

This has to be the worst ice rink I've been to. Took my family there over the weekend for their public skate. This place is complete chaos. Everyone is skating wherever they want, kids are wrestling on the ice, other kids are being destructive to the equipment, and the ice has huge gashes all over it. I even saw a kid with a metal skate aid on its side and the leg ends pointing at him. What do you think happens when the front of that skate aid hits something? There are no rules or if there are, none of them are being enforced. The people working there could care less. We asked if they ever clean the ice and was told maybe once a day. I expected so much more from the Glenview Park District, but instead they have created an unsafe and dangerous environment. If you want to have a good time skating with your family, go to any other ice rink but this one. read more

This community ice center is really nice! My friend and I were there on a Saturday that had an afternoon public skating session. It wasn't too crowded. We enjoyed skating there. There are several nice Asian restaurants and bubble tea stores 5 mins west of this place. Public transportation is fine in this area. I took Pace bus 270 to the restaurant area and left in the same way. It was my first time exploring Glenview, and I had a wonderful experience. read more

Recently remodeled the Ice Center is beautiful. There are two rinks and plenty of seating to watch the skaters. We were here for an ice show and had the opportunity to have seats on the ice. Literally on the ice. It was very cold, but the view was different than anything I experienced. There are plenty of restrooms, and North Branch has a restaurant inside the arena, which is a nice option for food and drinks. read more

We have been spending a lot of time here since the remodel. They are very covid safe and clean. Sanitizer is everywhere! The new rinks are beautiful. Sign up for open skate, which is about $7 per person and $4 skate rental. It does fill up quickly, so definitely sign up in advance. Large, bright and clean. So much fun to be ice skating again, indoors, and feeling safe. Also, be sure to grab a donut at the Joe Donut stand. Check for their hours, as they are not the same as the rink hours. Middleaged ice center...its ok . The concession stand emits a stro g grease odor...which ia gross. It has one amd a half sheets which is unusual. Its is moderately clean and in good repair. read more

The facilities were spotless, everything there as far as the rink, ice was very good as well. They did a great job with maintenance and even spot cleaning to where the heavy traffic wasn't leaving any garbage behind for the next group to find. 5 stars there. But the only gripe I had, was there was a bald scorekeeper with glasses that was making beginner games about himself. I was just there for the wishbone tournament with a bunch of eight-year-olds playing their first season. he kept score fine for the most part. barely messed up the clock. But insisted on trying to put on a comedy routine with his music selection. It's hard enough for the kids to learn the game, some of them bawk under pressure, but this guy kept playing patronizing sound effects and music poking fun of them, trying too hard to play to the crowd who wasn't into it either. I guess he was just too smart for the rest of us. the heckling nature just went over our heads. I guess he thought being against the spirit of it was better for the environment. as a fellow rink guy that works for a less endowed rink w worse amenities, I've worked w a lot of dudes that were misfits or had odd quirks, but I've also worked w some real scumbags that were horrible employees. it takes a lot for me to be shocked/not have any empathy for a rink guy. but he was way too old to be this way, even barked at refs for telling him what to do. even the kids were wondering what was with him. when a bunch of eight year olds who aren't even sure of themselves playing, still look down on you and you're in your 50s, something is not right about you. A very nice arena! 2 full size rinks and a studio. Public skate is only $7 for 1.5 hours. I've never seen an inside circle for practicing as large as here, which had both pros and cons. Pros are, less worry about running into someone with a skate blade when you do a trick. Cons, there's a lot less room for laps to go around people, which is a little annoying/scary when people just learning randomly switch their directions lol. Otherwise, it's very clean, the employees are nice, the guards pay attention to the skaters, the music is good, and there's a cute pro shop for both hockey and figure skating. read more

We just had my daughter's birthday party here. We had a great time! You couldn't beat the party price. It was a great deal! We got a HUGE party room for only $65 an hour! It had plenty of space and a kitchen. The kids had a ton of room to run around. The staff - Patrick and Jason were super friendly and helpful. Everyone enjoyed skating. The staff that was in charge of the rink were also super helpful. My daughter fell down and someone rushed right over to help her up. We really enjoyed having our party here. We will definitely be hosting another event there soon! I highly recommend this place for kids parties. read more

I write this review after playing one of the worst games of my 13-year hockey playing career here at Glenview. It was Friday the 13th, and our whole team lost a game we should have won by a lot AND one of the team captains cars broke down. However, this is a nice arena. They have a flat-panel TV telling everyone what's going on that night and what locker room to be in. When we got there, there was an open skate with loud blasting pop hits and a disco ball. We all suited up and were total jerks, skating along with the kids. It was a lot of fun. There were several rinks, including basically a practice rink. Nice! The locker rooms were clean, the concessions and proshop open late. Two frustrations: the lockers rooms are strangely designed so that you have to pass through a bunch to get to yours OR you have to walk all the way around the rink. Not exactly good engineering. Also, the temperature of the ice isn't quite right--some rinks it takes a bit for the water from the zamboni to turn to ice, but it eventually does. We kept getting pucks stuck in the water behind the nets all the way through the third period. This has to be fixed. Otherwise, a great rink! read more

Great for my daughter. She loves the lessons and wants to keep skating. Not so great for those who should wear helmets. Skate director and teachers discouraged the use of helmets (except for hockey) when my kids started, despite LearnToSkateUSA recommendations and best practices. My son smacked his head on the ice and never really liked skating after that. Rentals are fine. Knots in the shoelaces make it difficult to tie bows and once had rusty runners (skates won't glide), requiring a skate change during practice, which meant lots of the practice was spent changing skates (beginner classes are only 30 minutes long). This is really big ice center. It is also a lot of fun and it is never too crowded. The prices are reasonable as well, and the music here is okay. They also give ice skating lessons here to people of all different ages. read more
