I had a great experience with Glen's Auto Service! I called them to see if they could take a look at my car, which had been having trouble starting. After explaining that I'd replaced the battery and the issue was still worsening, Glen quickly deduced that the starter might be the problem. He and Casey immediately ordered the necessary parts while we were still on the phone, ensuring they'd arrive right as I showed up--okayyyy, efficiency! When I arrived, the team took the time to thoroughly inspect my car and explained everything to me in detail. They were so patient with my questions, and it was clear they genuinely wanted me to understand what was going on with my car. I really appreciated that level of care and transparency. Very accomodating, honest and kind people. I trust this auto shop with my car. read more

One of the few mechanics I have come across who has integrity and was honest with me about my car, I would stop by Glen's before you go anywhere else. Did a diagnostic for me and found all the problems that other mechanics never mentioned, gave me his honest opinion and put himself in my shoes and gave me realistic options. Didn't even charge me for my diagnostic because of all the repairs I needed. Super honest, stand up guy, I will definitely be coming back for any repairs in the future read more

A few weeks ago, I went to a dealership (which will remain nameless) for a routine servicing. Aside from paying $660 for the service, they identified two items that needed to be fixed. The biggest was that my AC system was leaking and would shortly begin to blow hot air. The dealership quoted me a little over $2,000 to fix the AC. There was no way I'd be able to afford that so I went to Glen to get a second opinion. Glen was again one of the most honest people I've dealt with. He shared that he didn't have the machine to make the fix and also recommended that I stick with the dealership, since private repair shops would use aftermarket parts that don't last long. However, Glen went further and recommended that I contact a specific service rep at the dealership and let him know that Glen referred me. A week later, I called the rep that Glen recommended and told him the issue. A day later the rep let me know that after looking in to it, he could arrange the fix for $500. A week later the fix was completed for under $470; less than 25% of the original quote I received. I'm so appreciative to Glen for his kindness, honesty, and assistance that saved me over $1,500. I brought him donuts a few weeks later and will certainly be going to Glen for all my future servicing. read more

Glen was so so kind and accommodating. I called to see if they had time for an electric diagnostic and he asked me what was happening with the car. I explained that there's a whirring sound when I started up the car, and he managed to squeeze me in. I dropped off my car the next day and I mentioned that I live in Kapahulu and was only in Waipio for a couple of days for work. There was clear communication and expectations from the beginning. He also went out of his way to move his schedule around so that they could start working on my car and finish as soon as possible. Pro tip: It's cash only ($25) for a safety check. He offered to do it for me while I was on my way out and I didn't have any cash on me. It was almost closing time and he said 'just come back another day' (!) You bet I'm coming back, not just with the cash but I'm bringing these guys some gift cards for lunch too! read more

Great work. Fast service. Glen actually cared about my car, safety and situation. Found my new mechanic.

Excellent old school care and service. Honest and goes out of their way to help you out. Realized my safety check had expired last month and wanted to get it done asap but I had other appointments later in the day. Called around and Glen said to bring it in and he'll get it done when I get there. True to his word he got it done soon after I arrived. Was able to make my other appointments. Big Mahalo! read more

My car's safety check is expiring at the end of the month and I needed a place to have it done. My usual spit couldn't accommodate me and another shop only does safety checks through appointment only. A friend recommended Glen's and I'm glad they did. They were closing up when I called, but the owner (I assumed it was him) today me to bring it in anyway. The face that they w ere able to accommodate me last minute shows how's much my business was valued. I will be going back to them again in the future for sure with other services I need done! read more

After being on this earth for 52 years, hands down, Glenn @ Glenn's Auto Service has been the best mechanic I have ever came across in my life time. About a year ago I had my axle seals replaced, which started leaking again, but this time even worse. I have a 2002 4Runner SR5, which is in mint condition. A co-worker of mine referred me to Glenn and when I contacted him, he knew exactly what had to be done. He was meticulous about every detail every step of the way. He would text me pictures to let me know what was going on, and he also provided me pictures outlining mistakes/errors that my 1st mechanic had made. When the job was completed, I couldn't believe that he totally cleaned my entire axle, power train, engine, etc. Not just wiped, but cleaned.... read more

Glen is a trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanic that will tell it as it is. He will be honest and do the best job possible.

Needed to replace my starter. Usually on weekends shops are either closed or close early. Thankful for Glen to get me last minute. Not only did he replace my starter but he went out of he's way to fix another problem I had with no cost. Thank you so much! Definitely coming back for all my Auto needs read more

Hands down the best experience I have had with an auto mechanic since moving to Las Vegas. Professional and friendly service every step of the process. Took the extra time to make sure everything I needed was completed as requested and no additional attempts to nickle and dime me. 100% recommend Glen to anyone looking to have auto service done to their vehicle. Thank you again Glen! read more

Glen is an awesome guy who knows his stuff! I needed to replace my shocks and struts (you know how the roads are on Oahu!) and had a question. I had been looking around the KYB website, and Glen's Auto Service is listed first as a KYB Certified Ride Control Center. I called up the shop and Glen answered. He took time and asked questions to determine my needs and recommended I do go with the KYB brand. He already helped me a lot just up to this point, and I wasn't even a customer... yet! That really shows his integrity and helpfulness. I scheduled an appointment and while my car was on the rack, he could see that I had a cracked CV Boot. He called and asked what I wanted to do, mentioning that since he already had that portion of the car torn apart, he wouldn't need to charge me labor on that portion of the job! Got her done! Thanks Glen! He also had taken pics on his iPad to show me the damaged part, before it had been removed. He gave me PLENNY advice on some other car questions that came up, and I really appreciated his time. If you're reading this, and still not sure where to take your car... Go ahead, try call Glen at 808-842-4442. You'll know this is a person you can trust! read more

Outstanding service and quality work! I would highly recommend this place for your auto service needs. Glen is a very honest and reliable guy. My first review on Yelp and it has to go to Glen's Auto Shop. My van had a slow leak and it look like power steering or break fluid leaking so I was panicking. Didn't want to have mechanical failure of not being able to steer or stop on the freeway. I called number of auto shops around my area and got answer machine or no pick-up but not Glen's Auto. Glen answered and squeezed me in his tight schedule. Got my van fixed the same day and it is now running great. Glen is a genuine professional and all about taking care of his customer and not taking advantage of situation. I could have gone with the dealership but took the chance with Glen (thanks to fellow Yelpers) and I'm glad I did. If you need repair or services, give honest Glen a try; you won't regret the decision to have him work on your car. He knows auto repairs and does everything except transmission work. Thanks Glen for the great service. read more

Glen and his crew are patient, kind and they listened to all my descriptions and noise impersonations. That got them the four stars. I have not ever felt intimidated or overcharged for any service. Two challenges being a grown up: finding a good dentist and finding a trustworthy mechanic. Glen's Auto Service is very good. read more

Approximately 4 years ago, our Odyssey van (only 3 years old then) started to "shimmy" like crazy upon accelerating. In desperate need for a repair, went to the dealership where we purchased our van and were told that we had to change our motor mounts...so we did...costing us over $1300!!! As I drove the van right off the lot and accelerated, it began to shimmy again! So frustrating! Years went by and we could not find anyone who could give us a straight answer about what the cause was. Fast forward to earlier this year: We were referred to Glen by my in laws family...and I am so glad we found our family mechanic!!!!!! We called and he immediately was so informative and accommodating with our schedule. Upon arriving to his waipio shop, we were promptly greeted. Glen diagnosed our problem and also pointed out a few other things that needed fixing (6.5 years, almost 100K miles!). He charged us fairly and finally, NO MORE SHIMMY! To think we almost sold our van . Glen is very detailed, his shop clean, and his work is impeccable! My husband and I Iove that he shows us the old parts he changed out and takes the time to explain just what exactly he did! Since then, he has worked on my mom's Lexus, our son's Chevy truck, and soon my husband's Tacoma for maintenance. Glen is an honest man with a reputable business for over 20 years! Call him for all your automotive needs! (808)842-4442 read more

This review is so overdue, I'm embarrassed. I've been waiting for my husband to help me write it because he knows all the technical stuff Glen did to our car. Since I can't wait anymore, I'll have to write this review without too many examples. I just want others to know how honest, knowledgeable and fair Glen is. My husband's best friend owns several autoshops in California so we always call him whenever we have car issues so he can diagnose the problem and/or give us a quote on how much repairs should cost. Glen's assements and cost are always on point with our friend's quotes so we know we are dealing with an honest mechanic. These days, finding an honest, knowledgeable mechanic is similar to finding a four leaf clover; they exist, but are very difficult to find. There are times when something would be wrong with our car and Glen would suggest trying cheaper repairs to trouble shoot before escalating to a more expensive repair. This happened to us when we couldn't get a hold of our friend before we contacted Glen. Once again, his recommendation echoed our friend's suggestion. Anyway, if you're looking for an honest and fair mechanic who knows what he's doing, you should give Glen a chance. Just be aware that his shop can be a little dfficult to find because it's tucked away in the back of a big mix-used plaza. There's warehouses, storefronts, a bike shop and dr's offices, in the same plaza. read more

Good to find a mechanic that really knows what he's doing and takes pride in his work. Communicates everything that needs work with estimates before starting anything. Amazing job on our Tacoma. We will be taking all of our cars to Glenn. read more

Was friendly answering my question but just to let people know his main focus are fixing Honda's and Toyota's. So for another brand he doesn't really work on them. But like I said he was friendly with answering my questions. read more

Writing this review to thank Glen and Shawn for the efficient and courteous service ever! Called Glen to see if he could diagnose the battery and if it needed to be replaced. Although Glen had a full schedule today, he was able to take the time to diagnose the battery and replace it with a new battery. The past times we've been to Glen for servicing, he is always accommodating and takes the time to explain what needs to be done and thoroughly explains what was done when the repairs have been completed! If you need a mechanic who's honest and efficient, give Glen a call and see what he can do for you! Shawn (his assistant) is also very personable and efficient ... he even asked if there's anything else that needs to done! Now that's service! read more

This guy is awesome when it comes to fixing cars. He's VERY thorough and VERY miticulous, almost like...wait...just like it was his car....he's honest about his work and points everything out to you the work he has done and doesn't bullshit you. In addition to that he would call us when he would find things that would need repair or not and wouldn't push us to fix it. We just asked him, was it necessary in his opinion and a lot of the time he said no, you can wait but just expect it to be needing to be fixed possibly later. He specializes in toyota's and honda's but he works on all types of cars. The shop is small, almost garage size, and it's located in a tiny corner of a auto body shop. One word of warning, he charges normal labor rates, he'll go at honest ASE man hours (the automotive mechanic standard) and he'll work, trust me..he wont charge you for hours he isn't doing. He also will strongly recommend genuine parts on very important parts in the car, but you can request for non-genuine parts. You wont regret going to him, he's thorough and meticulous and someone you can trust. We wont go to anyone else! read more

Loud rattling coming from the undercarriage of my SUV. Called Glen on Wednesday to see if I could bring in my car on Saturday. He had a pretty full schedule but he fit me in. I get there, meet Glen, and drop off the car. Since the diagnosis and repair might take anywhere from at least 1-2 hours I decide to walk to Costco to kill time. Before I even left the complex Glen calls me and tells me to turn around and come back. I get there and he's under my car removing a broken clamp, which was the cause of the rattle. He replaces the clamp, turns the ignition and the rattle is gone. To top it all off he graciously waived the cost of the repair. Glen of Glen's Auto Service is accommodating, friendly, fair, honest, and efficient. Quality is important to me and I made the right choice in seeing Glen. I even drove from Hawaii Kai and I have no regrets. read more

Glen is the best! He honestly cares and tries his best to convenience you. I'm from the big island and my dad is a former mechanic. Glen's very trust worthy and also offered to have my dad call him so he could explain what was wrong with my car. Excellent service! read more

Glen is by far the best mechanic I ever had. Not even the dealership technician or agent beats him at customer service. I brought in my car for a "deadly sound" cited on some online site on car issues. I noticed my car made a low humming noise which I've never heard before. I read somewhere on the interwebs that it was a "deadly sound" and it could be the wheel bearings so I immediately needed to bring my car to a mechanic instead of the dealership. I chose Glen's Auto Service as it had 5 stars on yelp and his reviews were great and helpful. He specializes in Honda and Toyota and has had his business for 15 years. I didnt want to go to a dealership anymore because I knew cost wise I will spend more. Glen is located in Waipio which was convenient for my drive down from Mililani. Glen was super accommodating and took my car in with no scheduling issues. Over the phone he was more than helpful. He knew there was a overturned dump truck on the H2 southbound at that time and he mentioned that I would be stuck in traffic. I already knew about the accident prior. I thought that he was very informative in the sense of caring for others. So my arrival to the shop I expected that he would be meticulous and thorough as he sounded like he was very detailed oriented. I get to his shop in no time as I rerouted through Kam Hwy instead of H2. Believe me if I didn't know about the accident I would've been stuck for hours. I met with Glen and he was very professional. He needed to look at the car and drive it to know what was wrong and would call me with an estimate and when it would be done by. He had a few cars to work on before my car but he called me after a couple of hours with the diagnosis. Glen actually diagnosed another problem that needed to be fixed right away. He explained very well with the issues and I knew he was very experienced as he described these issues to how I can understand. He also included his past experiences with past clients on certain parts and what should be used and what brand should be used. That reassured me knowing that he knows his stuff. He also knew his schedule and approximated that he would be done either by the end of the day or by next morning. His estimate was actually not that bad for what I was expecting. This was refreshing because I've had my share of repairs and I always experience angst because of high cost. I actually felt relieved that Glen is caring for my car and not treating it as a production and influx of money as what dealerships do. Glen even reassured me that if my car needed to stay overnight, my car will be in the garage, has security system and that a security guard checks every hour at night. That assured me that my car would be safe from thieves. Glen was done with my car at the end of his closing time and I was not near the area to pick my car up. However he mentioned that he would be coming back to the shop after 9 pm and would be more than willing to meet. He normally doesn't stay late after closing but what luck I had with him. Since my fiance wasn't with me earlier, Glen was more than willing to explain what he fixed on my car to my fiance. I was thrilled that he did. Half the time I don't know what is what with cars. My fiance thought that he was really personable and a nice guy. Plus he was amazed how well he knows his stuff. He was even thinking of bringing his car in for his next car issue. His garage is super clean and he told us he mops everyday!! I thought wow, I don't even mop my kitchen everyday. I finally met my mechanic for life. I say go for Glen, he is the best!!! read more

My wife and I began taking our car to Glen when we moved from the mainland four years ago. Our car is over 11 years old. He has replaced a number of major components during that time as well as performed routine maintenance. The service Glen provides is nothing short of outstanding. He is incredibly thorough and knowledgeable. Glen takes the time to explain what needs to be done--and what doesn't. He recognizes that car repairs can be expensive and he does his best give advanced warning about repairs that need to be made in the future--but can wait. We have never felt pressured to make unnecessary repairs: he cares about his customers, their budget, and their safety. During our last visit, he took the extra time to remove the mountain of camping and beach paraphernalia we keep in the trunk just so he could check the spare tire (which was all-but-flat). We highly recommend Glen's Auto. read more

I noticed that coolant was leaking from my SUV. I couldn't drive it to Glen's shop in Waipahu so he offered to tow it there ... and I live in Kaneohe! He came over after 10:00 p.m. and hooked up the car in no time at all. Glen called me the next day with a complete diagnosis and promised to have the car fixed soon so that I wouldn't have to rent a car. I'm not at all surprised at all of the 5-star reviews of Glen's Auto Service. He has been my mechanic for many years and I value his expertise and professionalism. read more
