I called to ask how much it would be to dry clean a peacoat. Depends on its length, a woman replied. A long, knee-length peacoat, I said. $5-6, she responded. I brought two peacoats (thankfully not more) to Glenore Cleaners on Tuesday with the promise that they would be ready for pick-up on Friday. Not only were they not ready until Saturday, the peacoats cost $18 to dry clean EACH. That's a big, fat, unforgivable price difference. With so many dry cleaners in the neighborhood, I won't be returning to this one. I'm giving it two stars instead of one because the peacoats looked and smelled clean. read more

LOVE Glenore Cleaners. Pearl and Phillipa are so nice and so friendly. They do alterations and a superb job at it. They do an awesome job on dry cleaning as well. I brought in a lot of items one time and they gave me a deal on cleaning. I brought in a large coat, a few blouses, and at least 5 pants. They only charged me a few dollars on the pants. What a nice gesture. They are an awesome part of the neighborhood and it doesn't hurt that I live across the street and can easily pick up my stuff. read more

I took in a very high quality blue Benetton blazer. Big mistake. They gave it back to me more wrinkled than when I gave it to them. Also, around the shoulder and collar, they actually made the blue turn brown. On top of that, they put a small, pinky-tip sized hole in the back fabric. I can't imagine how they did all that- it's like they were using my blazer to put out a small fire or something. It looked either dirty or burned or both with the faded brown and hole. I helplessly told them to clean it again and I came back, only to find that they hadn't done anything- the wrinkles were even still there- totally wrinkled on the arms and back. I asked for my money back, and I was refused. I actually cannot even use the blazer in this condition and have to salvage it. If you don't wan to ruin your favorite blazer or other article, you might want to be careful on this one. Ask yourself- is it worth the risk? read more

I couldn't agree more about Pearl and Phillipa. We have been going to Glenore for 6 years. We bought a place in the Richmond 3 years ago but still take our dry cleaning over to Vallejo Street. They are efficient and friendly and go out of there way to fix broken straps on dresses or add lost buttons to shirts. Their advice to us is, if you get a stain, don't try to clean it, take it to them and they will get it out. A couple of years ago, at a restaurant, a glass of red wine spilled on my white jacket. I took it to Glenore and it came back as good as new. Highly recommended! read more

Extremely friendly and is the cheapest dry cleaners I have seen in the city (which is suprising because its in Cow Hollow). Have been going there about 2 years and never had a problem or had anything gone missing. read more

I highly recommend Glenore Cleaners for their great, fast and friendly service. I have been bringing my dry cleaning here for five years, and every experience has been positive. Pearl and Phillipa are the best! They are such an important part of the neighborhood. They take the time to get to know their customers, many of whom have become friends. I always enjoy stopping to chat with them. Pearl and Phillipa bring a real sense of community to this corner of Pacific Heights. I couldn't ask for better neighbors: they have even called me at home to remind me to move my car for street cleaning! read more

Toggled between 4 and 5 stars for a minute, then asked myself if I'd ever been disappointed with Glenore. The answer was no. The quality, price, and advice they give about clothing upkeep is invaluable. Highly recommended. read more

Sisters Pearl and Phillipa have done me right on many occasions by saving a whiskey-stained dress or sewn up my ripped clothes no charge for an emergency trip. They can often be found either smoking outside, drinking tea, or eating something take-out. So friendly. But when you need alterations you have to put aside modesty and just change in the back of the room besides the washer/dryer - not the most professional. However, their neighborly attitude keeps me coming back. read more

Simply stated, Pearl and Phillipa are not only our dry cleaner, they are our friends and a great part of our neighborhood. They also do the best original hem on designer jeans I have ever seen, the BEST IN SF. read more

What can I say about this place? Pearl and Phillipa are the mayors of Pacific Heights. We recently bought a house outside the neighborhood. They introduced me to my broker, painter, and house cleaners. All worked out very well, it will be going a good 15 min out of my way going forward to get my dry cleaning but I would never consider going anywhere else. When these girls aren't lecturing me on everything from my personal life to my finances they are usually feeding me like a stray dog. (there is always food there they will share) I never keep a ticket, they know my clothes better then I do. The best cleaners in the universe! read more

Glenore is the best! We moved in the neighborhood several years ago and have become good friends with Pearl and Phillipa. Not only do they provide great services at reasonable prices but they will also call me if I forgot to move my motorcycle on street cleaning day so I don't get a ticket. They are extremely reliable and trustworthy. read more

BEWARE!!!! DO NOT GET ANYTHING ALTERED HERE!!!!! I've had the absolute worst experience with Glenore and their parent company, First Quality Cleaners. I took a floor length bridesmaid dress in to Glenore on 12/12 to get the bottom hem taken up and the straps made tighter - pretty standard alterations that I've had done dozens of times before with various dresses over the years. I tried the dress on and Jenny pinned the bottom and straps. She didn't seem to have a lot of experience with this, but she was friendly and this place had good reviews. I'm not a seamstress so I wasn't there to judge... Until she pinned it incorrectly and I had to try on the dress again and re pin. After the second time the pins were correct and lined up with the shoes I brought to try on. I came back a week later to pick up my dress and it was 3 inches too short and the straps were crooked by more than an inch! When I requested a refund then, Jenny outright refused and told me I needed to go to the people who *actually* did the alterations at First Quality all the way across town. I was upset, but I went there as instructed and met with Soo who agreed that the dress was pinned incorrectly. She then took the dress, altered it, and sent it back to Glenore. I went back to pick it up today, now 9 days after I first dropped it off, and it was back to being too long!!!! The strap on one side remains crooked and now gaps at the bust. The worst part of all of this is that Soo refused to refund me. After much back and forth on the phone and me threatening to report her to the BBB, she gave me a partial refund of $35 for the $75 it initially cost. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE. Bring your expensive or cherished items somewhere far, far away from here so they can be properly taken care of. I now have a ruined bridesmaid dress that cost $350 to buy, $75 to alter incorrectly, and likely another $150 to have rush alterations done somewhere else, not to mention the headache of going through this process. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!!!! read more

I have been using Glenore Cleaners for over ten years now. Although I would typically never write a review on Yelp, I felt compelled to rely a recent experience with Amy/Glenore Cleaners. My wife and I had just attended a wonderful island wedding. Given the tropical climate, we were all required to wear linen for the ceremony. All was great at the wedding. The only unfortunate moment was when someone accidently crashed into me spilling copious amount of red wine all over my white linen pants. Needless to say, I thought my recent investment in my white linen suit was lost! Listening to Amy's previous advice, I didn't try to clean out the stain myself with water or soap. I simply brought them in to Glenore when we returned. Amy worked her magic and saved my pants. I honestly have never had any issues with the quality of their cleaning, the service or the prices! Amy is honest and willing to go the extra length to make customers happy. Highly recommended. I don't see myself going anywhere else for the next ten years! read more

This business cheats customers. They lie about the weight of your laundry and overcharge for laundry by the pound, probably 10-20% each time. It's shameful. The two women who run Glenore are nice enough (though probably a little too feisty / wise-cracking for their own good and for my taste), but they literally tried to cheat me. I have not returned. I dropped off a bag for wash-and-fold laundry by the pound. They told me "we don't weigh anything beforehand, it might have wet towels, etc and be heavier than normal. So we weigh it all after it's clean." Ok, fine. I found it a little odd that they would not weigh the laundry in front of me when I dropped it off (i.e; like every other by-the-pound laundry I've ever been to), but I trusted them. I showed up later that night and they've charged for 27 lbs of laundry (more pounds than I have ever submitted). I was curious, so I asked that we weigh the laundry together just to double-check the weight. First, they became rather upset that I had dared ask for this. Next, they crowded the scale and ONE OF THE WOMEN LITERALLY PUT HER TOES ON THE EDGE OF THE SCALE (I can't make this up) to try to make the pounds of laundry seem heavier. I catch her and tell her to please stand back. She, again, gets very upset. We finally weigh all the clothes they've washed for me, and the final pounds (being generous) is 19 lbs. They had literally tacked on 8 extra pounds (or about 35-40%) to my bill, hoping I would not notice. A complete fraud. Once I had busted them in the act of cheating me, I paid for my 19 lbs and left. The two female owners, however, were completely unapologetic and, in fact, angry that I'd caught them. AWFUL. No apologies, no "sorry, that was our mistake", no make-goods or coupons. Nothing. They were indignant. I'm not going back and I really encourage all those who use Glenore to double-check their bill and the wash-and-fold laundry weights that are claimed. read more

There is no way I can let this go without warning others... I have been using Glenore for about a year, with no problems. I really liked that she (Amy, I think she said) always knew me and where my stuff was. Then there was a big problem! First of all, my boyfriend got 2 pair of $150 jeans hemmed and they were too short. He can't even wear them, but we looked at it like maybe it was our fault some how. Then I took in 3 pair of brand new slacks to have hemmed. The whole time we were trying to mark the pants where I wanted them, she was trying to get me to go shorter. I told her no and where I wanted the hem exactly. Probably should have left right then, but we continued on. After picking them up, I took the pants home to try on and they were too short by an inch. The next day I returned them. She argued that those were not the pants she had hemmed. I proved my point by showing her where they also removed my pockets, per my request. Then she said I must have done something to the hem because it wasn't her. The Nerve! I don't know how to sew, that's why I brought them here! She continued by saying that it was the hem that we chose and that I was wrong. Eventually she gave in after I asked her to just match them to another pair I brought in. Soon, it was time to pick them up again. She went on and on that every time I get something altered, it has to be done twice. Having no clue what she is talking about, that continued the argument. She then tried to charge me $16 this time around(original price $57), which I refused. I got my dry cleaning and the pants. She charged me $50. So she probably got her money anyway. I will tell you one thing... She won't get my business or my $40 every week anymore! read more

We started going to Glenore 4 years ago when we lived just across the street. We moved out of the neighborhood only 1 year later, but still bring our dry cleaning/wash and fold to them each week. They are prompt, organized and very friendly. We love our weekly chats with them and always leave laughing. We highly recommend for dry cleaning, wash and fold and alterations. read more
