Even back then, I rarely had the need for a cab but I had a close relationship with these three cabbies and United Cabs is the only cab I have ever taken in those rare instances when I do need a cab. Like Yelper John L.H. stated, "If you have to take a cab in New Orleans, insist on United". Call me old fashioned, but when in New Orleans, I would always choose United Cabs over Uber and/or Lyft. They've been in business since 1938, so they definitely know the city. They have over 400 cabs and are also the largest fleet in the city. According to their website, " All Drivers are: Licensed FBI Background Checked, Finger Printed, and Drug Tested. All Vehicles are Equipped with Cameras. All vehicles equipped with credit card machines for your convenience. They take Cash & Credit Cards. All Vehicles Pass An Annual 27-Point City Inspection Before Allowed To Carry Passengers". My fare with Metry was half of that and the driver, #83, Jeremy, was GREAT!! He arrived 10 minutes earlier than promised (I was VERY happy about that because I told dispatch the body shop closed at 5 and I needed them to come ASAP due to rush hour.) Jeremy was polite, an outstanding and safe driver and I was enjoying our conversation so much I wished my trip was longer. I've only had good experiences with Metry Cab and think they deserve a better rating so I hope this helps. After our meal the restaurant gave me the number for a local cab company which I called and when this cab showed up, the original cab driver drove over to us, he apparently waited for us at the restaurant for 2 hours. Come to find out this guy wasn't even supposed to be in this area! The driver got out of his black SUV, with his pants zipper down and started screaming at us and the other cab driver, saying "I waited for you guys, you have to come with me..... F@@K you then, go with this asshole..." The other cab driver stood up for us and told us that we were overcharged not only from the airport to the hotel, but also from the hotel to the restaurant. Nathan was very courteous, drove us safely in a Black Suburban, and shared great tips about visiting New Orleans. Hands down, the best service around and highly recommended.
