Although I was keen to visit cardiologists of this center, I was stock with communication with the front desk and the manager My intense efforts to set up the appointment ended with its cancellation and here is why. I have Harvard Pilgrim insurance associated with United Health Care. This is not a rare thing when insurances cooperate in order to cover expenses of each other. It reflected on the insurance card - both names with contact and billing information. However, it took two weeks for me to explain this to the front desk, billing department and the manager. They refused to recognize United Health Care coverage. They asked for the cash payment because they simply couldn't manage to call to the given numbers to check. I contacted Harvard Pilgrim with the question about this situation and they not just confirmed the coverage but found this particular office on their official providers list. I have sent this information to the manager with the screen shot of the Harvard Pilgrim official site provider's list where Glendale Heart Institute and doctors were listed. I didn't have any feedback from the manager. I have emailed the front desk and manager a note with the appointment cancellation due to their lack of attention to my requests. It was a surprise when they called me next day to confirm the appointment as well as the cash payment for the visit. I asked if they check emails and was explained that they are too busy to do so and simply do not have access to it (!). Front desk doesn't have an access to the email they provide as their contact. What can I say? Maybe the doctors are good but I find the office arrangements and communication is unprofessional. I will make sure to forward my comment to internet as well to the Harvard Pilgrim to exclude this business off their recommendation list. read more

I have been seeing doctor Huang at this office for a while. He is a knowledgeable, excellent and caring doctor. The nurses are so wonderful too. I often wait a long time, passed my appointment time to see him, which I don't mind. But when it comes to scheduling appointments for echo and stress test, it becomes very challenging. You call several times even go there in person, and you can't get a straight answer as to when you will have your appointment. If you start questioning them, they talk to you in a rudely manner, talk down to you and make you feel like less than a human.. Dr. Solhpour is a wonderful doctor. He has taken great care of my mother for the last two years. I accompany her to appointments and am always amazed by his kind, compassionate nature and his ability to communicate clearly and effectively the condition of my mother's cardiac health as well as treatment options if needed. He performed a Watchman device implantation for her one year ago and she's been feeling much better ever since. Her blood pressure has decreased significantly and she is hopefully at less risk for a second stroke. We are both very thankful for having found Dr Solpour. His expertise combined with his pleasant demeanor make him one of a kind in our eyes. The office gives me Major Anxiety. Always way overcrowded; standing out in hallway. Ofc staff have the attitude they don't care. Messed up my billing so badly. Omitted diagnostic code and had to fight to get them to change. Had to pay $600 out of pocket then fight 7 months to get it back. Office manager doesn't return calls. This front desk staff is unbelievably rude and unprofessional. They act like they're doing you a favor just by answering the phone, if they even bother to answer at all. The complete lack of basic respect and courtesy is shocking for a medical office. Patients are not treated like people here, they're treated like an inconvenience. It's obvious no one holds this staff accountable for their behavior, because this level of disrespect doesn't happen overnight, it's a pattern. People come here because they're sick, stressed, and needing care, not to be dismissed, ignored, or talked down to by a front desk that clearly couldn't care less. If management and doctors actually care about patient experience, they need to use more due diligence when hiring people. Patients deserve better than this. On the other hand, the nurses are great, professional, caring, and everything you would hope for when you come to a place like this. The doctor I saw here for about a year was a fine cardiologist. This office is inexcusably poor, though. Expect no one to ever answer the phone, appointments canceled at the last minute, long waits, incorrect billing, bills that take up to 9 months to arrive, etc. At one point when the Dr had prescribed a test, I called to schedule. I called day after day and no one ever answered the phone. Messages left went unreturned. I finally emailed the Dr directly. He called me, and I explained I couldn't schedule the test because no one answers the phone in his office. He assured me he'd have someone call me to schedule. They never did. I had to find another Dr to schedule the test, and so had to leave is doctor behind. To top it off, the office billed me (6 months later) for a "telehealth" appointment when he called to schedule the test since no one in his office would which seemed exceedingly unethical. I know all Dr office staff are busy, but this is far and away the worst office of any type I've ever experienced. Look elsewhere. read more

He is incredibly professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The office environment is great, always very clean and everyone is very welcoming. I cannot recommend this place at all. After losing my job and my insurance, these people essentially ghosted me. Only reaching out to see if I've paid my bills via letter for a test that I will never get the results for. For a heart institute this place operates from a previous time where the fax machine is king and email communication does not exist. They have too many patients and not hardly enough compassion. I'm sure they do great work as long as you have full coverage insurance or a big bank account to cover things like the $100 fee just for the doctor to review the test that he also charged me to take. This is a review for Dr. Amir Rafie (and Dr. Huang), my father's interventional cardiologist (and electrophysiologist) who work at the Glendale Heart Institute. I found out about Dr. Rafie from a hospital nurse who quietly told me about him after I had a heated argument with a surgeon that was insisting on prepping my father for open heart surgery the day he was supposed to be discharged from the hospital. Without getting into details, my father had a particular heart valve condition and was being pressured into going into open heart surgery. I asked the surgeon about alternatives, and the surgeon said there were none. To be honest, my family was stressed and we were afraid. But something inside me told the surgeon, no, we're not going to that today, and we're going to find another way. After my dad was discharged from the hospital, we went to see Dr. Rafie. He was sincere, good humored, and was willing to help. He identified my dad as a candidate for a less invasive procedure that could fix his valve problem without open heart surgery. He was instrumental in connecting us with the brilliant surgeon who performed the procedure a few months later. It was done through a modern miracle of medicine, a catheter that ran from my dad's leg to his heart, using computers and technology the way you would think they would be used in the 21st century. It's been about 3 years under Dr. Rafie's care, and my father's heart is going strong. He no longer has the issue with his valve, his atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) has disappeared (saving my dad from a pacemaker) and Dr Rafie continues to be an advocate in keeping my dad healthy and living a high quality life. I am 100% convinced that without Dr. Rafie's help, my father would be suffering, or quite honestly, just be plain dead. If you have a heart problem or issue and need someone competent and honest to review it with you, I would say that you would be a fool not to try to make an appointment with Dr. Rafie. He's one of those rare physicians that's 100% in this because he wants to help people. A special thank you and mention to Dr. Huang the Electrophysiologist. My dad needed to see him when it looked like he might need a pacemaker. He was able to work with my father's medication in order to get his heart beat normalized during one episode that was pretty scary. Although he is a specialist in installing pacemakers, he found a way to keep my dad off one. Thanks Dr. Huang! I'm sure that there are issues that happen with the front office and billing, as often happens with all medical offices. But the level of knowledge and care once you see a physician here is very very high. Dr. Rafie and Dr. Huang deserve 5 stars, I appreciate how they're advocates for my father's health as much as I am. read more

My husband had a different cardiologist in Los Angeles when he was told he needs open heart surgery. We felt intimated and wanted a 2nd opinion. We were referred to Dr. Edgar Aleman and that he does wonders. When I called, we were able to get an appointment right away. Sure enough, after we were seen by Dr. Aleman, we didn't even want to think twice and scheduled to have him get a procedure that did NOT require open heart but instead have him place stints in his arteries. In the hospital, Dr. Aleman came out of the operating room to talk to me. Told me exactly what he did. He explained in details, asked all my questions, and even gave us his cell phone to call in case my husband doesn't feel well. Who does that? This doctor saved my husbands life! Will I refer anyone to this doctor? I have; my mother, my sister-in-law, my friend, and I'll continue to refer him to anyone who needs help with their heart. read more

AWFUL. I went to see a doc back in September. They said they'd send my medication to the pharmacy. I'm STILL trying to get the medication, it hasn't been sent. I've called them multiple times and the nurse never picks up the phone. Eventually, I had to call the appointment line and they refused to help me because "it's not their job". After I called multiple times and explained that I was just trying to get my meds they finally redirected me to the nurse. She assured me that she sent the prescription and that the meds would be ready in 24 hours. Guess what, I call the pharmacy and they haven't received the order even days later. I try calling the nurse again and they don't answer as always. I guess I'm not gonna get my meds from this place. Awful "care", I guess if you're not dying don't go there. They don't care to even do a simple task of sending the prescription. PLEASE AVOID. read more

This is my third visit. The first one was great. Dr. Solpour ordered a test done on me and that was scheduled. The staff also told me that someone was going to call me for the 24 hour holter...I was also scheduled for my next visit. My next visit was short. 3 minutes short. The doctor essentially told me that he needs the results for the holter. I told him that NO ONE CALLED ME FOR THE HOLTER but one Of the staff insisted that he did. But immediately told me that they have a holter available to issue me that day. I was charged $40 for that 3 minute visit. I had to plead billing (who was also apathetic about the situation) about the Co pay. After much pleading and with the aid of one of the nurses, I was able to get my next visits' appointment waived. Next appointment came. My appointment was at 2:15 and as u am writing this (3:42pm) I still haveNOT SEEN the doctor. Ridiculous! read more

Extremely busy office very unorganized , it is unfortunate that they have a good doctors practicing at this center , but the staff are unprofessional , incompetent , there is a disco vibe there , the staff talks so loud as they are going to have a party . No respect for patients. We had appointment yesterday but we had to wait over three hours , the administration staff over books the appointments and they do not care , they do not call you to tell you that Doctors is not in today and reschedule appointment they let you go to the office and then they tell you that Doctors is not in!! My mother is 82 years old and she hardly walks and have a major heart problems and she had to wait for hours to see the doctor yesterday ! The majority of staff are Armenians from Armenia, it is very common in Armenia to have this kind of behaviors in their health facilities , no organization skills, no respect for patients I guess they get by because the older patients do not write reviews as they do not speak English . This Center is making good money from these silent patients . I hope the good doctors at this Center will realize that they have to do a major changes in their staff and train them to be professional. I am writing as a 4 year patient of one of the doctors at this office. I personally am fairly happy with my doctor and therefore I have resisted writing this review but I can no longer stay quiet. The fact that this office does not have a 1 Star Rating overall is because many of the patients are elderly and don't have access to platforms such yelp. I'm hoping that one of the doctors in the office reads this review and takes action. The staff here is absolutely horrendous. Extremally rude, zero compassion, and beyond incompetent. Not one single employee has any clue what is going on. Patients constantly have to correct the errors of the employees here. (And take in mind that errors made at a cardiologist office can be the difference between life and death). I've never heard anyone apologize for their mistakes - instead, when a patient calls them out on their errors, they get even ruder and start to bully the patients. Often times I spend a few hours in the waiting room because appointments are never made correctly. Patients are stacked on top of one another like sardines in a can. While I'm waiting to see my doctor, I watch the interactions between patients and the staff. I promise you, you've never seen anything like this - It's like a seen out of a movie where the young ladies are bullying the older folks. I've yet to see anyone be acknowledged when they walk up to the window upon arrival. If you try to get the attention of the person sitting at the window, she will give you a dirty look and tell you to write your name down on the chart and sit down!!! (If you've ever seen the TV Show SEINFELD - it similar to the episode with the "Soup Nazi".) I've seen people who have been waiting here for over an hour only to find out that their appointment was canceled or re-scheduled without their consent. On at least 10 occasions I personally have witnessed the staff tell a patient that "your appointment has been canceled and we called you this morning to tell you but you didn't answer the phone." The word "sorry" is not in the vocabulary at this location. The attitude here is - IF YOU DONT LIKE IT THEN GET THE F*** OUT OF HERE. It's so unfortunate that the doctors are so busy that they don't realize what's going on. If you call in to make an appointment or ask a question, or confirm an appointment for exams or procedures - No one has any clue what's going on. On 5 or 6 occasions, I've been transferred 3 or 4 times to get get an answer to the most simple questions. Be ready to be placed on hold for very long periods of time. Most times the person that has the answer will need to call you back and I promise you will not get a call back. You will have to constantly call them until you get hopefully the right answer. I'm assuming that notes are made but no one reads the notes. You will need to explain everything to each person you speak to every time. Even if you just spoke to the same person. The reason for all of this is because the ladies that work here know that there is practically zero risk of repercussion for their actions. It's truly sad the way patients at this office are treated because most of them are elderly and are afraid to speak up. I hope that one of the doctors will read this and do something to change the toxic environment at this office. read more

I had to update my review just because they're seriously so awesome!!! Clinics like Glendale Heart Institute are really difficult to find nowadays. Every single employee is extremely down to earth, caring and ready to help in any way they can. I had requested medical records and Michelle got them ready immediately. Most places would transfer me to a line where I would have to leave a message and probably never hear back. When I called, I was immediately transferred to Michelle, who didn't even think twice about helping me with my request. I seriously love this clinic so much.
