We stayed at this hotel during Anime Expo last year and thought it was all right, so we booked it again for this year's AX. I was a little surprised to be charged for parking this time; I didn't remember having to do so last year. I also noticed that the hotel seemed dingier than it had the previous year; the hallway carpets could have used a good vacuuming which didn't bode well for the room. The room itself seemed OK when we got in (somewhere around 11PM), though poorly lit. The first thing my son always does when we get to a hotel room is check under the mattress for signs of bedbugs, and there were none. The bathroom looked OK though it had no counter space at all, and the nightstand was really tiny to be shared across two double beds. This was a "live out of your suitcase" type of room; no hangers provided though there was a rack to hang up clothes. I seem to remember having a dresser in our room last year (we were also on an upper floor then rather than the first floor). The walls are definitely thin, and we could hear our neighbors' baby crying and them talking for our first two nights. But those were just inconveniences, really. The next morning, my son noticed the wall-mounted shower gel bottle was empty, so we mentioned it to the lady at the front desk on our way out. When we got back that evening, we noticed that someone from housekeeping had left a couple of small bottles of shower gel in the bathroom -- and also had left muddy foot prints on the bath mat on the floor! That's the first photo. We did call for fresh towels and those were delivered promptly that evening. Coming back for our third night was the final straw. That was another late evening, and when I went to my suitcase for my pajamas I spotted a dead roach on the floor, less than a foot from the suitcase. That's the other photo. We got our baggage yp off the floor (at least there were a few chairs and table space) and I inspected our stuff to make sure there were no creepy crawlies in it. None, thank goodness. Checked out the next morning, and the young man running the desk didn't even bother to ask how our stay was. (Maybe he knew?) Not so great. Clean enough, but still kind of worn out and sad. I've stayed here a few times. Staff was nice and the beds were fine. The pool and Jacuzzi were good. Rooms were quiet. But for what they charge, I was not impressed. Especially now that they are charging to park, too. My rooms had no decor whatsoever. The TV situation is dumb. Can't beat it for the money. It's an older property, that's been renovated. The people at the front desk, are most accommodating. It's a GREAT location, and MUCH cheaper, than their competitors. It's not fancy, but it's clean, and has everything you need. Free WiFi. $10 parking. Very reasonable. The housekeeper was also friendly, and helpful. I will DEFINITELY stay here again. I'm a senior, and I appreciate, that they gave me a room close to the elevator. There's an entrance, that was very close, so I didn't have to walk so far. The place is DEFINITELY secure. I booked this hotel because I was taking my son to Universal Studios, which is just a 15-minute drive away. We stayed for one night. For the price, the hotel is decent--what you see is what you get. The lobby is charming and nicely decorated, just like in the photos. I booked the hotel based on the pictures I seen which are nothing like the actual rooms. The rooms are outdated, but they're spacious and clean, though the bathrooms could use a bit more attention. My room did not come with a microwave. I'm not sure if some of the rooms are updated and some aren't. This place is great for a short, last-minute stay but probably not ideal for a longer-term visit. They charge $10 for parking, and you'll find a lot of families staying here. The area feels safe, and there's a Walgreens kiosk in the lobby & they sell snacks and drinks. Overall, I'd rate the hotel 6/10. I probably wouldn't stay here again, but if you're looking for an affordable option in the Glendale/LA area, it could be a good choice. read more

Nice clean hotel with some cool tech features. Rooms were CLEAN, beds comfortable and towels were white. The pool is clean and so is the hot tub. I only gave 4 stars because you have to cast/stream your own and they don't offer cable tv. Also, there aren't enough plugs in the room for two phones, a laptop and a Bluetooth. I recommend bringing a power strip and extension cord. Overall, I'd book here again. It's quiet because not everyone can make use of the TV. It isn't that simple for older folks who we tried to help to cast to their TV and our laptop wasn't compatible to the TV to cast. Definitely a tad bit frustrating. I didn't want to use my phone as I was using it to talk on the phone and needed to plan the following day. Overall good concept and a semi-floating idea. read more

Glendale Express is a super cute hotel owned by the OSO Collection which creates unique Los Angeles-area destinations that merge artful new ways to work, play, stay, and live. First impression, I dig the 60's retro vibe in the lobby. Here are my pros and cons (more cons) of the place.. Pros Checking in at 3pm, Nicole was very informative, from complementary coffee and pop tarts in the a.m to the tv situation. Initially, walking to the room we were greeted by Charleston and asked him for extra towels. I didn't realize he wasn't housekeeping but rather maintenance nonetheless, he went above and beyond to help us out. The pool was nice and refreshing, away from the sun also, they offer towels by the pool which was a plus. Again, Charleston greeted my family and was kind enough to turn on the bubbles in the Jacuzzi. Cons We tried checking in a bit early because we were beat from a golf tournament. Unfortunately, they charge $30 for early check in. We decided not to go with it instead grab lunch from King taco and do a bit of shopping. I've stayed at many hotels that do not charge for early check-in. I should also mention when you are signing the final wavier in red is a stamp of times and prices for late check out. I've never seen that anywhere else. The room itself as mentioned are outdated but the amenities are definitely retro. I get technology has progressed tremendously in room the tv was connected to Chromecast so you have to use a Chromecast app from your phone to the tv by basically mirroring it. I couldn't find a free app and the instructions on the sheet didn't offer a good app to download. They were kind enough to send someone up but then again, I think about my parents or grandparents traveling and how difficult it would be for them to have to go through this. OSO collection should at least invest in local cable. (Channel 2-13) Also, Pop tarts are great for kids! Maybe consider having fresh fruit for the adults as they are probably cheaper than the tarts. read more

Every hotel in the same price range was SCARY. My parents were coming to town, and this looked like the cleanest choice for my price range. I was scared it wouldn't look like the pictures, since the price was low. PRAISE THE LORD IT DID! You can tell they put a lot of effort into making the hotel contemporary with fun decorations. There was a retro theme in the lounge that was designed very well. Very fun, and lots to look at! The room was normal, clean. You can tell the hotel is older but they keep it pretty well by decorating. It's older in some parts but taken care of. Definitely a bargain, with a fun and cool vibe. read more

Absolute worst hotel I've ever stayed at! This should not be called a hotel, it should be called a motel. When I first walked in there was a lady with a bad attitude already. I asked her where the best entrance was to our car and she told me to park in the rear lot next to the pool and there's an entrance there. The pool is exactly next to the sewer and when you walk to the entrance it smells like rotten sewage. We got to our room and the whole hallway smelled of cigarettes. The room smelled like a man's armpit and the whole hotel looks like it's haunted and ran down. We got to the room to realize they booked us for a room with one bed when we asked for two. They told me if we wanted to get two beds we'd have to pay an extra $30 a night. We decided to do that and they gave us a new key and room but when we got to the room it was ANOTHER room with only one bed!! The rooms stink and not clean, there's mold in the bathrooms and just an absolute sh** hole. Bad experience... I should've taken picture but we just wanted to get out of that place... we traveled with family and kids; stayed the night of 7/26, had originally booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. Guy at the front desk was not completely polite to begin with. Anyhow, he gave us the room keys. As soon as we opened the room door, a really bad dirty, humid smell, restroom had mold in it, big no no while having kids. Went downstairs, explained the guy the situation and asked him if we could change the room, he stated he wasn't allowed to do that which was odd as every hotel makes room changes in cases like this when available and this wasn't an availability issue. Ironically, every room has a note stating that "cleanliness and customer satisfaction is their number one priority"... we ended up staying the night in that filthy room and cancelled the second night the next morning. Building looks really old and outdated which is concerning as it's a huge building with a lot of rooms. I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel experience either but the bad customer service, and room conditions, knowing we had kids made this stay a really bad experience. read more

The single most godawful hotel experience I've ever had. March 1, 2023: called reservations to book a room for someone else. They took my credit card info, sent me a confirmation email, then demanded the guest pay with her own credit card when she arrived. When I called the front desk to try and fix it, the person would not give me his name, and then proceeded to hang up on me. When the guest got to her room, she texted me to let me know the fridge was broken and the room was dirty. I called back reservations and they transferred me to the front desk. I asked this person to please transfer me back to reservations and he said "I don't know what room they're in." This is all for real, I'm not exaggerating any of it. The guest, who I tried to get a room for so she could get a good night's sleep, had to leave the hotel entirely and went to a Residence Inn instead. At 9:30pm. If anybody who manages this hotel wants to reach out to me and help me understand how you managed to ruin a simple booking, please do so, I'm all ears. We originally booked at NOHO in North Hollywood. We fled in the middle of the night. We found this hotel on Expedia and booked. Expedia made a mistake. But the staff at this hotel went above and beyond to make sure we were safe and accommodated. The night manager and security guard teamed up, got us a rollaway and some extra bedding and got us in our room immediately. They did it with smiles on their faces. We are so grateful. We got in our room and it was wonderful. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. The soaps shampoo and conditioner smelled so good. They had a refrigerator and tea kettle in the room. They served tea coffee and pop tarts in the morning. We didn't hear any noise at all during the night. Very quiet. It was in my top 10' hotel experiences and I travel a lot . I call around 7:30am and I'm told again nothing was recovered. Btw I gave the make and model and described the case on the phone each time. So at this point I've given up on finding this phone, I report this to my job and start process of getting replace. I just needed invoice from property for my stay because that was the last location it was located. So I call back again in the afternoon and request a manager emails me this info and advise I work in wireless industry, tracked phone to location and for some reason it couldn't be recovered. I was told the manager was out but would call back. Not even a couple hours later the same guy calls back, asks me for the model of phone (I gave multiple times already) then asked if I stayed in a different room..(HUH?!) No! All of a sudden my phone is back on and it's been recovered. So I drive back spending all day in traffic, wasting a work day to recover my phone after being told 4 times it wasn't there. Somehow there was a mixup or oversight. Unfortunately there's some things "my bad" doesn't fix. Extremely disappointed how this was handled. I called at 10:30pm on a Friday asking if they were sold out person at the night shift said no they had plenty of rooms. Asked if we can do early check in said yes gave me the rates of check in times. We booked the night for Saturday with early check in at 11pm drove 6 hrs made it at 8:45 am checked in with "Prisa " she stated there were no rooms and I got incorrect information check out was at 11 am and the cleaners didn't start cleaning till then, I asked if we can get informed as soon as one was available she seem to brush off my statement we waited in the lobby with our pet mind you it's already 94 degrees outside never did she every mention to the other person who coved her lunch at 11am regarding us waiting for a room with a pet. Once she left to lunch at 11:20ish I asked the gentleman regarding any rooms available and "Vandy" said yes he had one open and gave us the room, didn't mention anything other then the deposit for the room I feel like this "prisa" person was no where near costumer friendly as a person who worked as a receptionist at a hotel shows customer service in a friendly manner no where did she say sorry let me see what I can do for you nothing just didn't care other then offer to hold our bags ... mind you we called and drove 6 hrs to get here and wanted to get ready for an event that we had and had to cancel our tickets, since we missed our event so we paid over $300 for a trip we couldn't cancel any longer, were waiting for 3 hrs in the lobby was not offered anything nor act knowledge worst experience ever will never come and stay at this hotel would not let my friend nor family stay her the hotel isn't in great condition they offer a fridge but no microwave bed is not the best, and mind you there is no blanket we only get the one sheet and the colorful bedspread as blankets? read more

Everything was very unprofessionally handled by the lady upfront from the very first day. She was very rude and demanding while she was explaining the rules of the hotels and we had very unwelcoming interactions. I can't remember her name, but she was the only lady on the reception desk in the mornings. We never been in this hotel, and we were pretty surprised how old and dirty this hotel was. For being the city of Glendale that everything is new and remodeled and updated, the owner must consider do some major renovations and major pesticides due to having roaches (refer to attached pictures) rolling around a room and all the old furnitures and bathroom equipments. As far as comfort goes, we had was only two single pillows for two of us which they were horribly uncomfortable . All the hotels have at least 3 different pillows on the bed for each guest to pick from . Heater was a mess and was blowing cold air the whole time and we had to keep it off and ended up wearing extra clothing to sleep warm and comfortable and wasn't much helpful regardless. All the hotels always have extra blankets in the closet for the guests if needed and this hotel had absolutely none. Also our room was lack of very basic stuff such as IRON which i needed to iron my husband's shirt for the event we were going to and we had to buy one from target and we were so frustrated over that. Also the blow dryer wasn't working when we needed to dry my hair which was another frustration. We spent almost $1,100 for four nights and this hotel didn't even offer basic breakfast and tea. They just put a coffee & water upfront with absolutely nothing else Our whole experience was absolutely awful and the only reason we chose this hotel was due to being the couple hundred cheaper compare to Hilton which was our biggest mistake. We would definitely have better experience at Hilton as far as welcoming and professional staff, clean and modern hotel and full room amenities for guests. NEVER AGAIN! read more

This was the worst hotel experience in my life. My wife and I decided to stay there for two nights on the exact first day of the isolation due to Covid. We left our parent's place cause we didn't want to risk their lives and checked in very late at night since we were searching for hotels in the area which weren't too expensive. As you understand, it was very late and we were both exhausted. My wife recently legally changed her name so she used the old name for her card but made a reservation under the new name by mistake. She explained everything in detail if you'd like to read it, her name is Margarita F. on yelp. I just wanted to share my own experience too. It was actually the morning of my birthday when the police officers with the manager bang at the door and asking us to open it. My wife and I explained to everyone what happened, she showed both of her IDs - old and new, absolutely legal, nothing fraudulent. The old one was actually not expired even lol. Instead of calling us and asking us about this, they called the police. Ok, it's their "policy". However, we were still kicked out of the hotel??? On the first day of the quarantine, on my birthday. The manager did not explain to us why, since there was no report, no problem. We paid with cash even though we checked out three hours early. The representative contacted her after the review, said that it's hurting the business. He offered to stay for one night lol. We said we don't want to, of course. Then, he offered money for two nights. We said we had to think about it and then sent him an explanation of why their actions were discriminating and why they should've let us stay, instead they kicked us out without explanations. 10 days later, they hired a lawyer and the lawyer said that the manager explained why we had to leave (which she did not, so it's not correct) and he said we should contact the police department - well your manager was responsible for the decision to kick us out, not the officers. He also said that we were being overdramatic. Well, it wasn't me who hired a lawyer. Maybe the manager messed up and now the owner is paying for the consequences? If you think it's silly, overdramatic, why would you hire a lawyer? Now, 2 weeks later, he is not responding to our emails and basically ignoring us. It is an old motel. It was clean and the carpeting looked new. Room is rather bare, though, but quite larger than most hotels. It was quiet when inside the room. The bed and pillow was comfortable. Good for sleeping after a whole day of sightseeing. Over-all, it was a good place and might consider it again when visiting LA. read more

They asked us to get out in 10 minutes since the transaction didn't go through and they suspect me of fraud. I did not get any confirmation from my bank regarding that nor did they tell me they talked to the hotel. So the hotel staff basically lied both to me and the police. The reason why the transaction didn't go through was that I made a reservation under my old name and the credit card I used was under my new name. When you order something online, haven't there been times when you order something under your account but you use someone else's credit card, your mom's, or sibling's, husband's? Well, you'd think there shouldn't be any problem, right? Even if there's a problem, they call you and ask you questions or ask you to use a different card. So, the manager slash owner of the Glendale Express Hotel decided to call the police instead of calling me and asking me what's wrong. It was a simple mistake and I'm sure we could've solved it without the police. They acted pretty rude and didn't even let us brush our teeth or anything. Even after I showed them my ID and we figured out that nothing wrong has happened, even after that they decided to kick us out. They even wanted to search the room (like, why? is it a joke?) but then said they won't do that only cause they don't have time due to coronavirus lol. Anyways, we paid in cash for the whole night (we were kicked out like 2 or 3 hours before the check-out but they STILL MADE US PAY FOR THAT). We checked in at 3 am I believe. So we paid the whole amount for just a couple of hours in this hotel room. No apologies, nothing. I proved that everything was okay but they still didn't want us to stay there for another night. WHY? Unless you're like me and don't really enjoy being woken up by the police, this place is great!!! By the way, I want the hotel staff to comment on this and answer me this: #1: Why did you make us pay the whole amount even though you kicked us out before the checkout? #2: Why didn't you let us stay even though there wasn't any fraud and I proved you that and provided my ID and everything? #3: Have you ever been to the court? I Had an event I was attending on Saturday morning and found this hotel online. The price was very reasonable for the location of the place. Check in was an easy process thanks to the Front desk gentleman Josh. The music they were playing in the lobby was nice. When I get to my room I realize I forgot to pack my phone charger , so back to the front counter I go. I asked Josh if he had a charger for my phone and if he would be able to charge my phone for me . Luckily he did have a charger and charged my phone for me. I stayed here for one night visiting all the way from Las Vegas. When I first looked at all the photos the room and bathroom looked really nice. However, when we got to the hotel, it was very dissapointed. First, the elevator that was close to our room was out of service which we didnt mind taking other elevator and walked. When we got to our room the keys didnt work. We were too tired to go back to the lobby all the way back, so we called several times to see anybody can come up to our room to give us the new keys. After 5th try of calling the lobby, I guess the manager? came up and told us that we probably kept our keys with our phone and told us to becareful blaming on us. Second, when we opened the door it smelled really bad and heater wasn't even working. Bathroom door wouldn't close & lock. I would probably never book this hotel if I ever visit LA again. read more

Got here and told them we would be back late because we were going to a concert all day. We left our luggage and went out for the day. When we got back it took at least 30 minutes to get into our room. No idea why it took so long. read more
