This was my second visit here and it's so fun. They have a nice variety of pieces to choose from and many colors of paint to choose. It's a relaxing, chill vibe and you've got two hours to work on your piece. They set up and clean up after your done. The turnaround time to get your finished ceramics is 3 days which is quick. Not the best place for painting pottery. There's time limits to painting, whereas in other pottery places (like some in Cary) allow you to take as much time as you need. You have to make appointments and sign up for a time slot to paint. I guess it's typically not walk in, which is disappointing. There is an okay selection of pottery items to choose from. But the prices here are so much more pricier than other locations I've been at. Usually they provide a little "beginners guide" on how to begin, but there was none here. Won't come back but still got a cute plate out of it. read more

This was a lovely and efficient pottery painting establishment! I made a reservation for 2 a few days before (weekends tend to book up during the week) and was seating at a solo table with 2 chairs which was perfect. There were SO many options of ceramics to choose from, so after perusing, the staff prepped our stations and gave us the run down on paints to use. Highly recommend that you use 2-3 layers for your base coat if you to choose to go with a lighter color to avoid any splotchy spots. They also had more precise paint bottles to get more detailed art onto my ceramic. The 2 hours was more than enough time to finish my design and the staff said they dip it in a clear layer before firing it so no base color works just as well if you choose. Pick up was in 4-5 business days. They texted me when it was ready in the next week and I seamlessly picked it up within a few minutes. The pottery turned out great! Overall would recommend to anyone craving a creative experience. My partner and I were silent and zoned in and the entire time because painting was so soothing and fun! read more

Such a cute little shop and friendly people! A good selection of ceramics to paint and a good amount of glaze colors. You pick your piece, sit down, and you come up the the color station and pour your own glaze, then after youre done, they clean up everything for you! It's that easy! It was steady on a Saturday afternoon but there was always room for people coming in. The only thing I would wish was that they were able help us draw/paint things on the piece or have stencils available for us to trace at least, but it was super fun none the less! Fabulous place for a birthday party! My daughter and her friends had a wonderful time painting cute animals. On Sundays, you can have the studio privately so we had pizza and cake after painting. The girls loved it. The owner is very pleasant and offered great customer service - verifying the party time and details via email and again via phone a couple days prior to the party, and she let me know when I had a few dollars left on my minimum so I could get an extra something rather than wasting it. I had a great experience here over the weekend. I came to paint with my sister on Friday afternoon. We were the only ones in there and it was quiet and relaxing. The owner was very nice and friendly and helpful. She showed us around and got us set up for painting. The prices are reasonable and the price on the shelf is the total price, which is helpful when deciding what to paint. My 6 year old granddaughter and I spent the afternoon here. We both enjoyed ourselves and had a lot of fun painting. The lady was extremely helpful and friendly. There was a wide variety of items to choose from. Everything from $4 magnets to $42 unicorn banks graced the shelves. The price includes everything, the item, paint, studio time, kiln firing, everything. When we arrived we were the only ones there but by the time we left several others had arrived. I think this is a fairly popular place. I can see why. Everyone there seemed to be really enjoying themselves. They also sell gift certificates and do birthday parties. Plus they have a frequent shopper card which will eventually entitle the bearer to a discount on a purchase. We found other things we want to paint, so we will definitely return. read more

I spent a few hours here today with my 12 yr old daughter and some new friends. It was a great way to spend an afternoon and the prices are great. The staff was very helpful and always close by if you needed advice or a helping hand. Lots of great pieces to choose from and glazes of all colors and finishes. The only downside is it seems to be very popular and it's a bit small, but still a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. It's very easy to find and has ample and convenient parking. We will definitely be back to pick up our pieces (they'll be ready in 5 days) and paint more. read more

One of their staff helped me screenprint on my last piece and it turned out amazingly! My girls and I are regulars at Glazed. We go about once per month and have only had wonderful experiences. Susannah, the owner, is warm, laid back, friendly and well-organized. She was even accommodating about having the 2 year olds from my younger daughter's preschool one cold morning! You pay a studio fee per person then pay per item, which are seasonal, varied and affordable. My older daughter also had a great time at summer camp. I went there with my kid to create an experience. We stood there at first expecting someone to welcome us and guide us through the process, but the owner was not friendly to say the least, even to my kid. A few minutes later I heard her being very welcoming and warm to a pair of father daughter who just entered, so that left a bad taste to begin with. The assistant almost followed us every step when we were looking at the pieces, reminding us a few times about the rules! Even tough my kid is in grade school, very well behaved, and was not even attempting to touch, etc. When we chose our piece and started, the owner seemed like all she wanted was for us to finish quickly and go. We spent around 20 min and rushed to finish so that we can get out of not so relaxing atmosphere and cold reception. Overall, they have a fair variety of pieces to paint, but I will not go back to a place that I spend money and begin treated the way we were treated. read more

My daughter loves this place. We've gone independently and thrown a birthday party there. We've also been to similar shops where we lived before NC. Glazed Expectations is as good as any other we've visited, with a really wide selection (for boys or girls...and I'm always surprised at how many college students are there, whether ironically or not) and very fair prices. While this is a local mom/pop shop and it's got your standard fare- your cute garden gnomes and plates and bowls- and they run various classes, I've had a really mixed experience with these folks. The first time, they were really helpful, but didn't call when my pottery was ready. The second time they were fine, no complaints; but this last time, I know they close at 6 PM so I rush out of work to pick up my 2 year old and show up at 5:40 to paint something for his grandfather's birthday and I apologize because I know I've only got 20 or so minutes- (but all my child does is smear paint on stuff at this point so I figure it'll take 10 15 minutes tops!) and the shop owner says, "Actually, you've got 5 minutes, because we stop painting at 5:45 so we can clean up." At which point I said, "Fine". and I left. SO, for all of you thinking of going, their hours are not quite true. You can pick up your pottery after 5:45, but you'd better not think of trying to paint anything! You know it's hard to be a working mom and do fun things for the grandparents with the 2 year old, and these folks weren't that helpful. All in all, it's going to be a while before I go back. read more

This is a really sweet little place but there are some significant drawbacks. First, they are way over-priced. All of the other similar businesses I've ever been to have included the cost of materials and firing in the price of the item you select to paint. In this case, the pottery you select to paint is already quite pricey and then you pay a "studio fee" on top of that. They are also sticklers about weird rules like not being able to take a bottle of glaze more than 2 feet away from the shelf to pour it. I recognize the intent of this rule (to ensure everyone has the full selection of glazes to choose from), but the enforcement is a little too intense. Also the staff had an attitude when I called to check on the status of my pieces. It's around the holidays and it's entirely possible that they could be either ahead of schedule or delayed, so I called to inquire. That was a mistake. For a tiny pottery painting spot in Carrboro, it's a shame they aren't a little nicer, more fairly priced, and more laid back. Overall my experience there was not as relaxing as I had hoped. read more
