I've lived in the Eagle Rock area for quite some time now and didn't realize this gem of a pool was only several blocks away from me. I've been here twice now and will continue to do since the gym I used to go to shutdown so there goes my swimming laps as well. There is a $4 fee to get it which I am assuming to help maintain and help paying its employees, I do like that you have to pay a certain amount as it kind of assures maintenance of the facility. There are several lanes in the pool to do laps and an open section with the lane divider bouys on both ends, you could also do your lap there but be cautioned that there might be children wading around or other people waiting for an open lane. I do like this pool and most definitely my pool to go to now moving forward.

This is right after New Years....come on get your exercise on

A humble public pool, with outstanding utilitarian value for all, particularly during the insufferable months-long roasting heat of Los Angeles (caused by the barbaric removal of indigenous oaks which would otherwise have mitigated regional micro-climate with shade and moisture generation, in the service of "yt" triumphalist "progress"). This pool is well run, although its changing rooms are more spartan than a Soviet gulag, but ssshhh, such are the secrets of this feudal U.S. capitalism we suffer through. At least the floors are clean and hosed down daily. There is also sufficient space and ceiling height to feel less threatened by airborne COVID (of varieties previous to the omnipotent omicron). Cubicle style dividers with a single hook are offered for the modest but you don't have the privilege of a privacy door or curtain (which is reserved presumably for the well-heeled who pay to patronize more exclusive "private" clubs). The water quality in the pool is monitored routinely, and despite the summer heat and large usage I didn't get sick. That's an endorsement. The set up of lanes for lap swimming is a boon to adults who don't want to dodge screaming little wrigglers. There seems to be such a kind ethic here in terms of lane sharing. A notable difference from other pools (on the west side and for example, Culver City) where there is a contingent of people trying to keep up their triathlon pace among public swimmers. Here it is accepted that many are here for meditative non-strenous exercise. The requirement for vaccine proof does make me feel a bit safer. In general the ethic of pool patrons here is to abide by the rules which after all promote wellbeing for all. I've not encountered obnoxious acting out and shrill behavior that is characteristic of either desperate people hemmed in on all sides by a repressive "yt"-dominant system that offers them no margin of dignity, or dysfunctional upbringing. Entry fees are modest and especially subsidized for those over 50 years of age. Hours are pretty epic, with morning, noon and evening slots.

It's that time again.

Dont know why i havent review this place , so this is my go to place to swim laps do some aquatic exercises. I like to start my day here at 6:00 AM its a heated year round pool wich is nice that one can come here in winter just be ready to bear the cold when you get out and hit the showers those few steps feel eternal other than that i like it. it's out doors and $3.50 gets you in.

It's an outdoor pool.

As I lay, sun-bathing, on the side of this pool, it occurred me to that my opinion about Glassell Park Pool has changed since my initial introduction. It's not the public pool aspect however (I've always been partial to LA's Park and Rec), but rather, I've come to appreciate its outdoor setting that is missing from my old Echo Park haunt. http://bit.ly/ptczXA You can do your laps here in this super-chill, easy-to-find parking Rec Center, AND work on your tan. It's nice to lay about, with Mount Washington in the backdrop, and blue sky overhead. Highly useful particularly when we've just experienced summer heat in the triple digits, and you're not feeling like driving out to the beach! Of course, I have yet to make it into winter with Glassell Park Pool, but something tells me I'll most likely bite the bullet and come here to practice laps in January...we live in LA, after all, where it doesn't get *that* c-c-cold!

What stood out most was the way he interacted with my young daughter. His patience and warmth toward her were sincere and unwavering, and that kind of care stays with a parent. It certainly stayed with me. People like Vardges make a real difference in their community, often without realizing it. I truly hope he gets the recognition he deserves. That itself gives this historic structure a miraculous feel because it survived desegregation in an apartheid state that still tries to hide/deny its ugly white supremacism. Nonetheless, the racist, capitalist model of diminishing public infrastructure because they provide benefit to non-whites equally, prevails. The changing rooms are a shambles. Ironically, in many poorer nations where I have used municipal pools, they have smarter, more updated locker rooms. (This reveals the character of what passes for national culture.) Enough now with the disparagement and let's pivot to this historic pool. The length is perhaps Olympic size but the deep end of the pool is in the middle. It's cordoned off into three sections across, allowing a lap swimmer to benefit from the deepest central third, although it is not a full 25 yards across. The water is much clearer than in Glassell Park and perhaps it's because it is not as heavily used? I found there's a solid jet stream of pumped water underneath leading to a kind of "rip tide" effect in the pool. You have to work harder to get across because of the undercurrent. It's quite enjoyable. The lack of trees around this pool makes the sun feel harsh, but the nearby Gold line train gives it a feeling of being part of a vibrant metro region. As well I was smelling street tacos from a nearby truck, very aromatic I was delighted to find this pool during one of the extended brutal heat waves of triple digit temperatures that are commonplace now thanks to climate change. However, consistent with the history of white colonizers being callous about the welfare of non-white citizens, and overriding the unique realities of western geography in favor of conformity with norms from the northeast, the City of LA Parks and Recreation department feels the need to shut down pools like this one during LA's *hottest months* of September and October. In other words, yes, the City of LA would rather people of this area suffer the heat than keep this pool open to allow for some respite for vulnerable human bodies. LA's hottest months are always September and October. City of LA Parks and Recreation: We don't care. Finally, note there is limited parking in a lot which exits into a mega-dip in the street side curb that will crack most sedans' chassis... Call 818-804-7570 about hours.

Like most community pools, it's in a beautiful neighborhood of Burbank and has some playgrounds and tennis courts near the pool. The locker rooms are kept up really well and the pool's temperature is kept at just the right level of cold and the chlorine level doesn't feel drastic as some places. The staff are great and helpful. The day rate depends on if you live in Burbank or not ($6-8) for lap swim and keep their schedule updated on their website. Bring your own swim gear as they are not provided by the aquatic center! Depending on time of day and when you go, the lap swim can be metered or by yards, as the layout of the pool can change (with kids swim, open swim, aerobics) nearby. Theres also a nice outdoor area for family events or kids birthday parties. Theres street side parking and they have a good size parking lot but it's pretty busy on weekends; people leave frequently and usually are waiting for your parking spot when you head out! A local who has been coming here for years encouraged me to try Mccambridge Recreation Pool (which I have yet to)!

The area is fairly spacious, and there's a pool you can jump into if the playground gets old. The downside, though, is the time limit they impose. They have two playtime slots: usually from 11:30 to 1:00 and 1:30 to 3:00. That's only an hour and a half of playtime, which my kids absolutely hate. Every time their playtime is interrupted, it leaves a bad impression. They enjoy the place, but once they have to leave due to the time limit, I hear about it nonstop. I personally prefer the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center. It offers unlimited play from open to close, but they do a quick equipment check every hour, which is understandable. It only takes about 15 minutes, and once that's done, you can go right back in. Here, you have to leave and buy a new wristband, about $3 per kid to return, meaning you're paying double if you want to stay longer than 90 minutes. This is definitely something they should reconsider, as I'm sure many people aren't happy with this setup.

Most…read moreof the pool is reserved for swim team training in the center deep section during open hours, and for families with children on one of the shallow ends. The shallow end that is closest to tree shade is reserved for a mix of open classes and "lap swimmers". Since you are going across the pool it's less than 25 yards. In terms of depth, remember this is a shallow end of the pool so there's a limited strip which is greater than 6 feet deep. During the summer I took up lap swimming alongside full blown lessons. For a lot of the instruction, adult/children learners were hanging off the side doing drills so it was still manageble to find straight lines for swimming laps. The problem with the pool is it is not that clean. Murky-ish water and hair multiple times came up. There is no rule about swimming caps. The lifeguards feel the need to come wash their feet in the pool just as we are swimming there. The optics and the feeling of being in someone's bathwater are gross. As well I don't enjoy the shallow end for swimming. The best part of this pool is its location near trees and the cubicles for individual changing with benches and a hook. As well, I made some friends among the regular learners who came every day to put in practice time. I enjoyed my swim friends. Now that school is back in session, City of LA Parks and Rec have shut down the pool entirely to the public. It's a shame because if they were to keep it open at the weekends to the public, it would be a source of heat relief for regular families during LA'S hottest months of the year, September and October. Really LA City Parks and Rec could be cognizant of low and middle class people who don't have private pools and rely on municipal pools like this one to stay cool during these life-threatening brutal heatwaves.
