If you are African American be prepared to be discriminated against! Today my son and I and a family member came to the pool. Laura, a lifeguard, informed me when my son and I arrived that we couldn't do lessons. I was confused so I questioned her. I'm white my son mixed. She said the instructor. I said we don't have an instructor. She said the guy that swims. I said hats family and they are playing together. Oh ok Laura says. Because it's family it's ok. Then she comes back I spoke to my supervisor you aren't allowed to come back and swim together next year as today is the last day we are open. I was pissed. Mind you my son and his uncle are the only dark skinned African Americans in the pool! Racial discrimination here for sure by Laura! Horrible I thought in Southern California where it's very diverse this would never be an issue. I'm so disappointed that they are racist over my 7 year old son. There were other white families swimming together and they NEVER said a word to them!!!! You can see photos of the white mother and her child yet she was swimming and playing with her children and she was never once approached. Racial discrimination is horrible!!!!

Serene and clean. Is it open yet for the 2024 season? I checked the website and tried to call. No update.

No water in pool. Wrong times and dates on the website. No information. Had to drive by to see it empty. Lame.

Great pool. Impeccably clean. Professional lifeguards. Other yelp posts that say otherwise are just not true. Great pool. 5 stars.

I paid a dollar to get in (50+), and found the staff to be courteous and friendly. You are given a ticket and then it is collected by the changing room attendant (you enter the pool via the changing rooms). There are no lockers, but the attendant can store your bag while you swim. Plenty of shower and toilet stalls, pretty clean, basic facilities. Most of the pool lanes were being used for youth water polo, and there was one lap swimming lane set up. The 3 ft area on either side of the deeper parts of the pool (the middle of the pool gets to 11 ft) were open swim so I just stayed close to the lap swim lane and had no trouble getting my workout in. I was the only one left doing laps after 630pm. I will be back, I appreciate not having to swim around other people and/or share a lane, we will see if that changes when summer comes around.

The tarp over the slide looks like a typhoon hit it(dirty and ripped apart). Why tempt us? It's false advertising also. And there's a reason why they don't have pictures of the changing rooms. So dirty :( . Back before Covid when people actually worked(and wanted to work) the changing rooms were hosed down regularly throughout the day and clean. Now the attendants are on their phones the whole time instead of working. They clearly do not care about the people of this community and neighborhood when it comes to swimming and having a place to hang out in the Summer. I wanted to call the Health Dept. so many times but then I was afraid that they would shut it down permanently, other people that don't care about the filth might suffer and I wouldn't even have a place to lay out. Really sad how fast the place went downhill.

But the second you actually spend time here, especially on a weekend, it turns into something completely different and honestly pretty disturbing. The park gets insanely packed, which already makes everything feel chaotic, but the real issue is the condition of the facilities. The restrooms are beyond unacceptable. Not just "oh it's a public park" bad, but genuinely shocking, like something that makes you stop and question how this is even allowed to stay open. I'm talking about conditions that feel neglected to the point where it's uncomfortable just being nearby, let alone going inside. I went into two different restrooms thinking maybe one was just unlucky... nope, both were equally disgusting. I'll be posting pictures because it honestly doesn't feel believable otherwise. It gives off this weird in-between vibe where you don't know if you're at a city park or some kind of neglected shelter space, and that's not something anyone should feel at a place like this. What really made it worse for me is walking into the recreation building with the basketball and volleyball courts and realizing it's the same story inside. Worn down, under-maintained, and just lacking any sense that the city is actually investing in it. Meanwhile, you literally have the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust right there being renovated and cared for, which just makes the contrast even more frustrating. How is that level of attention happening on one side, but the actual park people use daily feels ignored? It's honestly disappointing because this place has so much potential. The location alone should make it one of the best parks in LA, but instead it feels like it's being left behind. I hate to say it, but I probably won't be coming back. There are just too many other parks where you don't have to deal with this level of neglect.

As a former teacher myself, I understand that a teacher's ability to assess, differentiate, and facilitate learning in ways that would meet the unique needs of every learner is what produces good results in students. With that said, my swimming and water survival skills has dramatically improved as the result of Igor's good instructional practices. He has been patient, and creative with ways to teach me to be a better swimmer. During my sessions, he has implemented swimming drills to help me gain muscle memory to master certain swim strokes. He has consistently given me feedback after every activity to help me correct, adjust and improve my skills. I never thought it was possible to be a proficient swimmer, but Igor has definitely made me see otherwise.

A large parking structure is next to the facility, which validates parking (mine was only $1 for around 3 hours). Johnny at the front desk was friendly upon check-in and got me all set up to join the K-Pop Step, Strength and Dance class with Rae (sp?). Locker room facilities are a bit dated, and reminded me of high school in the 90s. Thanks to you fellow Yelpers, I knew to bring my master lock (also from the 90s), and was able to get out of my professional clothes and into my workout attire, safely stowing my belongings without a problem. Rae led a spirited class, which included light weightlifting, step aerobics, HIIT, and a little bit of dance all to the backbeat of popular K-Pop songs. It was a blast! I wish that they offered this class back home at my YMCA in San Diego. (Pro tip - bring your own workout mat. They offer them, but they need to be refreshed.) Sadly, this facility lacks a water bottle filling station, so be sure to bring a full bottle of water, or be prepared to use an old-school water fountain. Shower facilities could be modernized along with the locker room. After class, walk to Gol Tong down the street and treat yourself to some tasty Korean Chicken! Next time I'm in Koreatown, I'll definitely be coming back to the Anderson Munger YMCA for a class!
