It was $4 for adult and $1 for each kid. They are extremely strict on swim suits. Both times I went they asked if I was wearing a swim suit and I said yes and both times I was asked to lift my shirt and pull down shorts to show that I was actually wearing it. I understand they are strict with swim suits, but they definitely don't take your word for it though. Depending on your child's age they will have you go inside and be arms length from them the entire time. The hours show up differently on different online platforms. As we were leaving, one of the lifeguards recommended calling each time before coming to ensure correct hours + she said oftentimes they close due to chemical issues in the pool. The slide was closed both times, and I hear it is closed often. Overall it was a good experience. The kids really enjoyed the size and different water features. read more

We took our daughter to Stoner Park Pool off Sawtelle to meet up with her cousins, and once we figured everything out, we had a great time. A few things I wish we had known before we went. They only accept cash, so don't show up expecting to pay with a card like we did. Also, babies have to wear a swim diaper even if they aren't getting in the water, so be sure to pack one. There are no chairs or seating, so plan to bring your own if you don't want to stand the whole time. We also packed our own towels, snacks, and drinks, which definitely came in handy. One thing I appreciated was that parents are required to stay with their children in the water at all times. It made the pool feel safe, especially with so many little ones swimming. We love this neighborhood pool. Perfect for small kids with a beach like entry and water features. Half the pool is dedicated to intermediate swimmers and there is even a water slide. Lifeguard staffing can be hit or miss at times so be sure to call ahead if you plan on going. Pool gets busy around 1 pm as park day campers arrive. read more

Stoner park is great! If you go here you're bound to be active. They have indoor/ outdoor basketball courts, skate park, a playground, a pool and splash pad. There's also a baseball field. We had a good time celebrating a birthday with a picnic and then the splash pad. I'd definitely return for the pool. The huge slide wasn't open but I'm sure the kids would have a lot of fun. I am very Happy that I found this pool for the summer. I went yesterday with my children and we had the best afternoon. It is a drive for us , but I was very very impressed with this park . It is very well kept and the playground, basketball courts and the pool are really within reach. it is very convenient for families with small and older children. I was able to keep an eye on my older son from the pool while he was shooting some hoops. love love love ... We will be returning. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Great place in the summer for the kids! Cold water! Everytime we went the water was very cold which was great. It didn't smell like chlorine and the staffs great at keeping the area clean. Just maybe wish there was seating areas inside. I like this place because it it near my West LA home and is $3.50 for adults and $1.00 for children. There is a nice mushroom water fountain in the main pool to offer shade from the sun and make things interesting there, and a nice and small water slide with separate landing pool as well. (The water slide is open intermittently.) Just know that there is no diving board and that it is not open on Sundays. Thanks for reading. Two days after I got hypnotized to deal with my fear of deep water, I ventured to this pool for a little test drive of my newly tuned psyche. I could see that the pool was busy even before I saw that the parking lot didn't offer one single empty space. But a spot across the street was good enough, so I took it and ventured in. Adults with a library card cost $2, but it's been ages since I carried mine so I paid the non-discounted adult rate of $2.50. Kids and seniors get in free. A guy took my money and gave me an entry ticket at the window. The same ticket was taken from me to enter - by a girl sitting less than three paces from where I bought it. Interesting. She directed me to the changing rooms, and told me to shower before entering the pool. The outside shower, located in the shade, sprayed such cold water and with such sadistic pressure that I'm certain they use the same ones in County Jail. Maybe the excited kids (98% of the pool goers) don't notice because they're too excited to be here. Since my reason for being here was to get in the deep end, I walked around the whole pool searching for it. How could it be that hard to find? In utter confusion, I asked the lifeguard where the deep end was. And here's where the irony set in: He pointed at the 4 1/2 foot deep end, and said that was as deep as their pool went. AND that part was roped off for the next half hour because there was a (kids only) swim class going on. AND for some reason, the cool-looking curly water slide wasn't open - or was waiting for the swim teacher dude - and the line (all kids) was super long. Dammit!! Oh, and the only other (non-employee) adults there were clearly kids' parents/chaperones, so they must have been wondering what the hell I was doing there. Needless to say, I left. I guess all the negatives for me would equal positives for parents or children, except maybe the jailhouse shower pressure. But hey - it's never too early to deter your kids from a life of crime, so don't let my experience keep you from bringing your kids here. P.S. This pool is seasonal only, and closes around Labor Day. read more

I can't believe that I am only the second person to review this place!! Oh wait, yes I can, because most of the customers at this public pool probably don't even know how to type yet!!!! That's right...the average age here besides the parents is probably around the age of 5, but that didn't stop me and roomie who are in our 20's from coming here! And for $2.50 an adult (yes the review below is outdated ha) it is a steal for a local, clean pool that is oh so refreshing on any sunny saturday or sunday in los angles. Oh wait! That is every weekend in sunny southern california!! My roomie goes here during the week on her lunch breaks too and it is way less crowded, so if you want a more relaxing public pool experience, then that is the time for you. But how could you want a relaxing pool experience with a pool that has a spiral water slide, a giant mushroom that pours out water for every kid enjoy (or adults like us! ha ha) complete with out water spouting friends that just make you feel like a kid all over again even when you aren't! **UPDATED: 6/24/15** Bring a swim-suit for EVERYONE, including the adults. EVEN if you are not swimming. You will not be allowed in the pool area without one!! Also, no white t-shirts/rash-guards. I thought we would be okay because there was a blue design on the kids rash-guard, but the back was all white so he had to take it off. I could not believe how cheap this place was. I forgot to look at the price, but we went today (summer 2015) It was 1 adult, 1 teenager, 2 kids and a baby. It was $7.50 total. Pro's: Lots of fun water sprayers to play in, No stairs, you can walk right in..like a splash pad, then it gets a bit deeper towards the middle with a lane line separating the deeper area. I noticed sometimes the deep area is open and sometimes they are running lessons in those lanes. In a separate area is a cool water slide (with and age and height limit which I think was 48"). The slide isn't always open and when it is opens and closes frequently. The line gets long since they only let one kid up the ladder at a time. They try to stagger them by having 1 waiting on the landing, but it's still slow. NOTE: if you have those round metal things in your shorts, like boys shorts have, you won't be allowed to slide. The kid I brought had plastic ones and the still wouldn't let him go, luckily I was able to pop them out. Lots of bathrooms AND nice size changing rooms right on the deck. Warm shower. The water was ICE cold. There are absolutely no chairs/benches and practically no shade, you have to sit on the cement. Both days I went, everyone was crowded next to one building where there was a limited amount of shade. Today there was no where to sit but the sun. I saw someone with a chair, so apparently you are allowed to bring them. I didn't see anyone with toys, so I am assuming they aren't allowed. Overall, the kids had a blast and didn't seem to mind the cold water. read more

Here are the city rules for the pool: 1.) Any child under the age of 7 years old must be accompanied by an adult to a 1:1 ratio. For example if you have 3 children under the age of 7, you must have 3 adults. However if they are +7 years old they can be alone 2.) To come inside the facility even if you are not swimming, you must wear a proper bathing suit. So no sport wear which includes basketball shorts, sport bras, or t-shirts. Oh man, I got rejected from coming in! Note to moms and dads going alone with 2 or more kids... if they are under 7, you're not allowed...1 adult to 1 kid ratio. Doesn't matter if you're kids are proficient or great swimmers (both of mine are, btw), you're out of luck. They don't allow testing here, but the pool in Westchester does (another LA public pool), which makes way more sense regarding water safety. Oh well, I'll have to try again next week because the pool is a kid magnet with plenty of water features. Hopefully I can bump up my rating when I finally make it through the gate. read more

I've taken my daughter here a few times but since there are too many ridiculous rules in place, we've found other places to escape the heat. First off, if you are not wearing a bathing suit or shorts you can't come inside at all. So this is kind of weird especially if only one parent is going to be swimming with their child. The other parent who is not wearing a bathing suit must wait outside of the WHOLE facility. Not on the side of the pool, but on the other side of the wrought iron bars that wrap around the whole swimming area. Its a bit over the top, if you ask me. You can't just hang out on the side of the pool and watch your child play. Second, there are no rafts or floaties of any sort allowed in the pool. Ummm... its a kiddie pool. This is not the olympic aquatic center. I brought my daughter here when she was 1 year old, so granted she can't swim without the aid of an adult or floatation device. We had a little raft for her that helps her learn to swim. I was going to have her float right next to me in the shallow end while she gets her kicks floating on the water safely. Well of course one the lifeguards informed me that rafts weren't allowed in the pool. The reason being that too many adults leave their children unattended. Even though I was going to be right next to her pulling her along in her raft. Of course the robotic response of "No" was expected. Third, the water here is so freaking cold! I like to cool off as much as the next guy, but when the water temp of the pool is far cooler than the ocean temperature its just no fun. My daughter is trying to swim while her teeth are chattering and of course she won't admit she's cold because she wants to stay in the water. They say the reason why they keep it so cold is so the kids won't pee in the pool. Right... cold water is really going to stop a child's bodily functions. This place could be great but the laziness and devil may care attitudes of the lifeguards make you wonder if they are even capable of actually rescuing a child in danger. At $1.50 an adult, kids free, you can't go wrong trying to cool off in this intense summer heat! This pool is great for the family. I love that it attracts all ages and ethnicities in this communtiy. There are about 5 different water features (spouts, fountains, spray, etc) that line the front area of the pool. The pool also starts and zero and gradually goes deeper (think beach without the sand or waves) so it's great for the really little ones to spash around in without having to be held. The deepest part is only 4 1/2 feet, and there are plenty of lifeguards to be found. There is also a large, twisty slide for the bigger kids/adults. It's fun fun fun in the sun sun sun! (sorry, did I get too giddy) Downfalls are: No blow up arm swimmies allowed. No grassy area inside the pool, it's all cement. There's shade but when it's busy, I wish there was more. And no one in pool area can wear regular clothes, MUST be in bathing gear. ***UPDATE: Adults: Get in free with your LA Public Library card! Wow! I'm shocked and more importantly disappointed. I'm a stay at home Mom with a 4.5 year old and 1.5 year old. My children got all excited to go splash at the pool until we were turned away because I was not allowed to be the only adult supervising two children under 7 years old. What the actual fuck?! So if you have two toddlers and don't have a nanny or a partner with a flexible schedule then you can not take your children to the pool. I understand some parents may not be capable of watching two children at a time at a busy pool, but I am, and I don't need some pool attended assessing my parenting capabilities and preventing my children from a summer experience I'm sure we all had growing up. read more

The pool starts like a beach goes to 4.5 feet. This is a huge plus for young children. Long list of rules, calling pool before first visit [(310) 575 -8286] is advised. All patrons must have swim suits or trunks, all white shirts must be removed on entrance to the facility, only swimmers with entrance tickets allowed in, no food on deck. ALL CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 7 MUST HAVE ONE ADULT WITH THEM. These rules are all enforced with no exceptions. The pool is a little cold if it's not a hot day. This pool is well liked and with the number of people and families that attend on a regular basis this is evident. Some of these Yelpers give bad reviews because they don't understand the rules. The cost is $2.50 per adult, free for children under 18 and seniors citizens. Doesn't get any more amazing then that for a mini-sized water park with great staffing! I really enjoyed this place. My sister and her 2 boys (age 4) were visiting from Japan and I told her about this place. It's great for young ones who don't know how to swim yet. It was really cheap to get in, she paid, so I don't know. You MUST show your swimsuits for each person entering before you pay or you can't get in. No floaties allowed and the slide is for kids age 7 and older and they only have it open every now and then. When we arrived on a Friday around 330pm/4pm it was open and then it was only open once more until we left at 6pm. Not sure why. Also, they have restrooms, changing rooms, and a row of about 4 or 5 open showers (no doors). They have lockers that are 25 cents each, very small, and you can only lock it/open it once. The lockers are small cubby holes or long tall ones, but have no depth and they are all 25 cents regardless of size. There is small parking lot at the pool/park, but we just did street parking (no permit in that area). Right by the pool is a playground, a basketball court, a field, and there was a van/truck selling drinks and snacks, but it was not a "food truck." There is not much shade at this pool. The kids had a blast. The other kids/parents were also very well behaved and nice. All ages were there from infants to about maybe 10 years old at the oldest. read more

This place is AWFUL and RIDICULOUS. After calling and finding out that even the adults need swimwear on (which seems ridiculous in itself) I drove all the way back to my home in silverlake with the kids I babysit to get a bathing suit. Then we drive all the way back, the kids were so excited, only to be turned away at the gate. Apparently it's a 1:1 ratio of child to adult. I watch 2 kids by myself every day of the week. Most of the time adults are by themselves with multiple kids because one parent works or it's a babysitter or something. Now I have 2 crying children who don't understand why they can't go in (don't worry I explained). We're fans, we love taking our toddler here! He can wade, he can go neck deep, he likes playing with all the water spray thinga-ma-bobbers. I love the water slide, but only my husband and I can go on it due to the minimum requirements of 48" and 7 years of age. They open it up about every half hour, then close it off. It's not a very large place, so just keep that in mind. I think it's much more geared towards parents with younger ones. If you're looking for a simple, fun time, this is worth it on a hot day. The water IS cold, though! Oh, but the showers are SO WARM. Changing rooms available. Again, we like it.
