Large lap pool with flag markers on both ends. I was using goggles and was able to see that the pool was very clean. Lifeguards and other employees walking around watching what is going on. Some people were getting swim lessons. The lap swimmers I talked with were for the most part nice and into swimming. All the many lanes were were busy this Sunday and you shared them with 2 or 3 other swimmers. Shallow lanes are 3.5 feet and deep water lanes are 11 feet and have a diving board. Parking is free and easy a few steps from the entrance. It costs $1.00 for over 60 and $4.00 for under 60. Cash only. Negatives: The men's locker room and showers are acceptable, clean, but not nice. I brought my own lock and locked up my stuff in the locker. The shower was a bit too hot and you can't change the temps--it's set. I was told that some homeless come here just to take showers but they have to pay to get in like everyone--they just don't swim. There was one homeless guy with a couple of carry-on suitcases in the locker room getting dressed after his shower--didn't really bother anyone. I stopped in here a couple of weeks ago during the week just to look at the pool first in business attire. The woman at the front desk was very "snippy" and would not let me in to just look at the facilities for 5 minutes--kept asserting that "no tours" of the pool facility are allowed! She said, "Just look at pictures of the pool on the wall in the lobby!" So I then just suggested how about I pay to use to pool and I tour myself about for a few minutes. She grabbed my money, didn't give me a ticket and called a guy over to keep a watch on me while I walked into the locker room and pool area. The guy was very nice and answered a lot of my questions. There were only 3 people in the pool--very empty. She did leave a "bad taste" in my mouth. I can see having an "attitude" if I came in looking grubby, but I was dressed up with a white shirt and dress pants and shoes.

I am currently taking a swimming class here in the evenings and the instructors are great! One thing to note: the class right before ours is little kids (6-7 yrs old), get there at the right time (10 minutes before your class) or the locker room will be filled with about 20 girls screaming and laughing and occupying your space. :) Walking in to the pool and walk straight into the locker room. There's a lifeguard at the desk, they can issue you a towel; I bring my own. The locker room: It's small, mostly assigned lockers, there are a few empty ones. I mainly just bring my bag out with me where I can keep an eye on it during class. There are about 3 bathroom stall, 3 shower stalls (no curtain) and no hair dryer nor large mirrors. If you come here before work, be prepared. There is a bathing suit dryer that's somewhat helpful. Theses are just things you find at a gym. Overall I really like this pool!

Tucked on the side of Kaufman (at one point, the "Women's Gym") on North Campus right by the Sunset/Westwood Plaza turnaround and Lot 4, North Pool is the older, smaller pool versus SAC or the other swim pools available to those with a UCLA Recreation membership, but it has it's own charm and group of regulars. Lots of sunshine, even in the winter months, and a lot more mellow than other open rec spots. Bring a towel; towel service is phasing out/almost gone at this point.

It was $4 for adult and $1 for each kid. They are extremely strict on swim suits. Both times I went they asked if I was wearing a swim suit and I said yes and both times I was asked to lift my shirt and pull down shorts to show that I was actually wearing it. I understand they are strict with swim suits, but they definitely don't take your word for it though. Depending on your child's age they will have you go inside and be arms length from them the entire time. The hours show up differently on different online platforms. As we were leaving, one of the lifeguards recommended calling each time before coming to ensure correct hours + she said oftentimes they close due to chemical issues in the pool. The slide was closed both times, and I hear it is closed often. Overall it was a good experience. The kids really enjoyed the size and different water features.

They only accept cash, so don't show up expecting to pay with a card like we did. Also, babies have to wear a swim diaper even if they aren't getting in the water, so be sure to pack one. There are no chairs or seating, so plan to bring your own if you don't want to stand the whole time. We also packed our own towels, snacks, and drinks, which definitely came in handy. One thing I appreciated was that parents are required to stay with their children in the water at all times. It made the pool feel safe, especially with so many little ones swimming. Now that we know what to bring, our next visit will be even easier. Overall, it was a fun, inexpensive way to spend the day with the family, and we'll definitely be back.

The class is simply magic. Constantia, the owner is the purest 'baby whisperer' we've ever met. Parents cradle their babies in the saline-based pool (a nice warm temperature) and little by little they get comfortable paddling and keeping themselves afloat, or holding themselves up along the edges. There is a wonderful song everyone sings at the beginning of class which has the effect of bringing everyone together. This is the best of 'Venice good vibes', and before you know it, your baby is a comfortable little dolphin.

Sessions run usually 6 weeks sometimes 4 depending on the owner Constantia's schedule, for 6 week it's $222. To get into a session you must attend orientation where you meet Constantia and she asks about your delivery etc then bring a check to sign up for a time slot. Classes run 45 mins the Sat class is highly coveted took us about 4 months in to get into one. Availability is based on who continues. Age is as young as you are comfortable to 2.5/3. The class is baby led so it's not instructional like make your child do this etc it teaches you to breathe and really have your child acclimate to the water. In turn as Your child gets more and more comfortable he or she will grow in skill. A loves it every weekend she kicks and swims and at 18 months she started going underwater. She loves the rain and now runs and jumps into the pool no fear at all.

There are deeper lap areas & a section for older kids & adults, but the true gem is the family section. It appears the family pool must be maintained with salt, so you don't get as much of a chlorine smell or residue. Some things to know if you go, which I had to learn by trial & error on my 1st trip there (last week) because they don't do a good job on their website of informing you of the rules - I found out everything by telling the workers it was my first time & then getting bits & pieces of information from different employees: 1 - you enter to the far left of the building & buy a ticket then circle back to the entrance. It was $9 for my dad, 4 yo daughter, 6 month old (yes, they charge for babies!) and myself. $9 for all 4 of us isn't bad, since some pools are $10 per adult. There are very moderately priced monthly memberships from what I understand. If you have children under 7yo, you each get a matching wrist band which means you agree to stay within an arms length of your child at all times. 2 - once you enter, you have to go to the locker room & change into your swim clothes, they won't let you into the pool area unless you are ready to get in, i.e. I had on a dress cover up over my swimsuit & I was told I had to take that off in the locker room and store it. 3 - You must store your bags & there are two options for this. 1 - you can use lockers but you must bring your own lock. 2 - there is a "bag drop off" where you can leave your bags & they give you a pin with a # which you attach to your swimsuit & bring back to exchange for your bags. 4 - Next you shower off before heading out to the pool. Other than yourself in your swimsuit you can only take a towel, your flip flops, your sunscreen & a water bottle. They did let me bring in a small bag with baby supplies. And some of the entrance monitors must be stricter than others because I was told you can't take a phone or leave any unattended bags but I saw plenty of this out there. On my first (& only as of yet) visit, after figuring this all out by trial & error, I was ready to give up on this pool... but my daughter was so excited and it looked so pretty we quickly forgot about that. The lifeguards are super vigilant & friendly, there are many of them, so I felt my child was really safe there. The management and most of the service associates were very friendly (although strict, which is good). I saw a couple of the managers (I assume they were the management) walking around talking to parents, making sure everyone was having a good time & safe. I did hit a snafu with the associates in the bag drop/locker room. Being my first time there, I assumed all three bag drop windows were open and being serviced. The associates saw me (and a few women) standing there, even looked at me directly, but failed to ever mention that window was not going to be attended. Instead they let us all stand there for over 10 minutes until I finally asked if that window we were standing at was open. One associate in particular gave major attitude & rudely said "NO" and the other one just ignored me. I asked if they ever planned to let us know & again, just ignored me. So I walked over to another window, which by now had a long line, & when I got to the front the "ruder" of the attendants just reached out her hand for my pin/ticket... I again told her "you know it's my first time here, you should have told us you were not planning to attend that window" and again she just stared at me and didn't even answer me, just gave me my bags and reached out for the next persons pin. I marched right over to the pool entrance & explained what happened. A lifeguard helped me & sincerely apologized & said they really try to train on good customer service, so she called over a manager... who also apologized & said he would talk to her & when I said "thank you, please do" he seemed annoyed that I said that... lol... I hope they can work out their customer service issues with their associates because physically this is a beautiful, clean, safe family pool that should be enjoyed by more local families. I'll give it another try, as it's in my neighborhood & I like to stay local & support nearby locales. I'll update if the customer service experience improves or not!
