We took a big break from lessons until we found CC Swim Academy and Ali in particular, who is a fantastic instructor. Now, with two little ones, 5 and 3, we dove headfirst into lessons and they both progressed so quickly. Ali has taught them the building blocks of swimming and it was amazing to watch. They've now learned so much and Ali has made them really comfortable in the water. They jump in the pool, do flips, go on water slides, etc. All things that take confidence they learned from Ali.

All the coaches (shout out Shahr, Christian, Carlos) are great and my daughter really responds to them. It was a HUGE stroke of luck to have found this group when I did and I am eternally thankful for their efforts.

Now, almost 2 years later, I swim (religiously) 3x a week as part of the SWIM FIT class. Coach Eric has been amazing and patient. The workout is better than anything I have done! I cannot rave enough about this program....it continues to be a "lifesaver" in my life!

My account was suspended because I never set foot in the gym. They were getting money out of me for nothing. The day after I got charged I finally went in for the first time to cancel. The desk rep assured me everything was taken care of. Fast forward to now and they're STILL charging me. They've created these BS blockades to extract not 1 but TWO more months out of me, despite already getting hundreds of dollars out of me for nothing for several months prior. And I told the rep that the first time I went in-person. YMCA is no family or community established it's a for-profit gym business just like all the rest of them, and they will prey on your money with nefarious practices all the same.

Anna at Hall Swim Academy is an excellent teacher…read more Two years ago, my son (who was 7 at the time) was going to another swim school and was doing ok but advancing slowly. As part of that school's safety training, they threw him in the water wearing street clothes. He was doing ok for about 30 seconds but then panicked and started to sink so one of the teachers had to jump in and pull him out. (It was partially my fault since I mistakenly had him wear long pants that absorbed water). Anyhow, he freaked out and got very scared. We continued to go to that school for several more weeks but he stagnated with his training and the teacher became frustrated and tried to push him too hard so he had a melt down. Fast forward two years, I started taking him to the Hall Swim Academy west LA location about 2 months ago and he started trying again to learn how to swim with Anna. Anna is extremely kind and patient with kids. She demonstrates what she wants him to do and corrects mistakes in his floating and swim strokes and has him repeat as necessary. She is able to recognize how much to push and when to give him more space and repeats instructions as necessary. He loves going to swim class with Anna and is motivated to learn so he can swim with his friends at summer camp. Yesterday, he had two major breakthroughs. He spent most of the class in the pool without wearing goggles which he previously refused to do. Then, on his own, he decided he wanted to try the swim test. So, he put on street clothes over his swim suit, jumped in the water, floated on his back for 20 seconds and then easily swam to the side of the pool and climbed out on his own. He was so proud of himself for overcoming his fear and is now looking forward to his next class with Anna. I am very grateful to Anna for her kindness, professionalism, excellent teaching skills and being such a good motivator. Thank you!!

Swimming had become a source of stress rather than confidence. From the very first session, Elena immediately put him at ease. Through her kindness, patience, and gentle approach, she helped him feel safe and supported in the water. Remarkably quickly, he went from avoiding the pool to swimming competently and confidently; and even more meaningful, he began to love swim lessons and looked forward to going each week. We have tried on our own to get him comfortable with swimming and going underwater many times, even other lessons in Mar Vista a couple years ago. We brought him to Coach Peter this year and in 30 min he was swimming underwater like a fish. Our only regret is not bringing him sooner. We've continued weekly lessons and are amazed at how well he is progressing! Peter is patient, encouraging and kind. We see so many other families at the pool when we are there who love him as much as we do.

He's great with kids and it's incredible how he earns their trust in such a short amount of time. We started lessons because we wanted our son to be safe in the water -- by Day 5 he was able to jump into the pool and swim to the other end with no help. The lessons also helped our son become comfortable in the water. Prior to them, he didn't even want water dumped on his head at bath time. So grateful to Coach Eric for helping our son conquer his fear and also giving us peace of mind that he's safe when around water.

At the end of class, we were even able to use his heated outdoor shower to rinse off and I was able to take her directly to preschool.

Had I known this I would have not purchased the package swim classes and would have just opted to purchase them one at a time last year . However, as of April 2025 it seems like their website no longer allows for you to purchase one session at a time anyway. From a customer service standpoint no one reached out to us to let me know that my credits would be expiring and that I should book a class soon. So that's a bit of a turn off and a bummer. We live in Hermosa so it's a good 20-25 min drive from our house to get there each time. I'm going to have to rethink whether or not we should continue with them or just look for a closer alternative at this point, given their expiration policy. Seems like such a waste of money. As for the instructor , my daughter has the best rapport with Carissa. All of their instructors are good though.
