YMCA hmmmmm good and bad reviews. I took my daughter her for her swim lessons and I request a female. But 2 of her lessons were with a male. In which they did NOT tell me ahead of time. Just to give me info and if I would rather change the lesson day to another. The swim teachers are great. I really like one her name was Evadai (sp?). She was patient with my daughter from where I could see. And my lil girl just wants to play. The director Norberto well good and not so good. Great he fixed a few problems with the lessons but not good in calling the customers in change of instructors. OH well it is what it is.. I personally would recommend the YMCA for swimming it's actually not bad at the end. Just a little adjustment with the schedules of instructors. I would have Evadai/Emily to train your kid/kids. Now my little girl can swim and not be afraid.

    Example of the brokenness.

Vending machines never work, Apple Pay and the 3rd Party app the vending machine wants you to preload money (kind of shady to me instead of straight Apple Pay). I have had the Monyx app charge me for something that was sold out and last week the Gatorade I was able to buy was frozen solid. Love coming to work out during COVID with a three month kiddo at home with unmasked preteens kids just running around unsupervised and also not being able to buy a drink. Cancel your contract with the vendor, Anacapa Vending, because they are not providing the service they say they are. I included a picture of the one in the basement. The one on the second floor failed five times in a row with both Apple Pay and the Monyx app with four bars of 5G cell service (basement only gets 1 bar of cell device and the Wi-Fi is awful).

Excellent gym in the Glendale are. My only wish is that they had a hot tub and sauna, but that's my only issue.

Prior to joining this gym I had gained about 20lbs from life... Diana is throughly helping me with my weight loss journey. I have never felt better in my body as I do now. I am stronger and the food noise has diminished. Not only has she coached on weightlifting/ strength training but has also coached me on my diet. Lastly, I look forward to every session I have booked with Diana, she makes a special tailored program for my needs / goals and is flexible / adaptable with scheduling. Front Desk/ locker room I am always greeted with a smile from the front desk personnel. The bathroom / locker room is always tidy. The bonus for me is that they provide parking validation for the parking structure. I am always able to find a parking spot get in and out without a hiccup. The one critique I have for Equinox is that I wish they were open a little later on the weekend.

It can get a little crowded during peak hours, but it's still a solid place to work out. Sometimes they run out of paper towels, but the staff will usually bring more right away when asked. I've been training with Coach Yhanni for the past few months, and it has been a great experience. He's very knowledgeable and always makes sure my form is correct to help prevent injuries. The men's restroom is absolutely disgusting , smells musty, and most of the urinals are out of service. The toilets are often clogged and it's honestly pretty unpleasant to use. But it's not just the restroom the gym floor itself is also very dirty and doesn't look like it's being properly maintained. It feels like the staff aren't keeping up with the mess throughout the facility. I even mentioned it to the lady at the front desk and she told me there was a crew actively working on it. However, after checking around, there was no one actually working on the restrooms or cleaning anything. For a gym that so many people pay for, basic cleanliness and maintenance should be a priority. This was honestly one of the worst experiences I've had at a gym, and I really hope management starts taking the condition of this location more seriously.

Most of the time it's ok, however some machines they clearly need more of. For example, the row machine (they have only one of) and pec fly machine (they have two). These you can almost guarantee that there will be a line. Cables. Lines are manageable but there is a bigger issue. Half the time there are literally no attachments. At times there will be say two triceps ropes and a single bar between the 6 cables to share. So, not only not enough variety of attachments (which is also true), but at times literally not enough to even have any kind of attachment on all the cables. I don't know if people take them to the private training area (which is not accessible to normies) or whatever they do with it, but it's very common at this gym and a deal breaker issue, I'd say. Sauna - insanely nasty. Horrible. Feels very unsanitary. I used it twice and both times my freshly washed towel, that I used there to sit on, caught this horrible stink of probably hundreds of peoples' sweats soaked in the wood of the sauna benches. I would've probably caught hepatitis A through Z had I not used the towel (half-joking). Still on the subject of sauna - not necessarily exclusive to this gym, but most people don't know sauna etiquette. They go in, wearing their sweaty shoes and clothes and do freaking sit ups and other crap in there, resulting in all of us sitting in heat and breathing in their stinky body and unwashed sweaty clothes evaporates. To those people, learn some manners and look up sauna etiquette before using it next time, that is nasty and you are just being an a**hole, with all due respect. That is not good for you or anyone around you. To the gym management - maybe print out sauna etiquettes and post them in a few places where sauna users can see? Have rules of use, just like you do for everything else? Overall, not ideal, but compared to some other gyms within walking distance it is at least usable.

They offer a 1 day free trial membership, that I wish was more like 3 to 5 days, but a win is a win! All the cardio equipment is in front with a great view of the street and local Glendale life. Some of the bikes and non treadmills can feel a little mushed together, but they do utilize all the space the best way they can. Restrooms and Showers are tip top, with crazy amazing water pressure. Some cubby holes and lock boxes to store your belongings. Parking is easy in their private lot, however it is limited. It's only a blockish from the the Americana and two from the Glendale Galleria. The maintenance of their facilities has gone downhill at WARP speed. By cutting corners on maintenance staffing and shifts and leaving their broken equipment is states of disrepair for weeks on end, they are showing the clientele the complete disregard they have for their gym experience and satisfaction. The absolute IRONY of their corporate poster at the entrance bragging about the money spent on upgrades (basically repainting the locations with their new color palette) while the state of the gym is being neglected and run into the ground is not lost on me. Please see the photos below of just some of the issues/failures I witnessed yesterday. If I had done a complete walk through, there would be a lot more. This is a disgrace to the reputation that Gold's built and EoS should be ashamed of their low standard of care for their customer's gym experience.
