First downside of this place is that the lockers are too few..2nd downside is there are no separations between each shower..No walls, wtf? Who does that? 3rd downside is the pool hours on Saturday..They close at 2pm..WHY? Besides that they close at 4pm..We didn't know they were closing so early..Had only chance to swim like 5 minutes..In 1 word: idk if i should recommend this type of place...I haven't tried other parts of the place, but must say the pool's water was great! i LOVE when the water temp is about 80 degrees..Which lets you get inn without any problems.. read more

My review is based on the preschool, The Learning Tree. Our daughter recently completed her time at the preschool to graduate to elementary school. Our kiddo is incredibly well socialized, bright, reading at 4 years old and has made friends that she now sees outside of class. This school was an absolute gift for our kiddo as it helped her to come out of her shell and to build confidence. Miss Amara with her 27+ years of experience is the toddler whisperer if ever such a role existed, she comes so incredibly recommended that I've heard of families traveling far from home to make sure that their child gets to be in her care. Also that she's watched several kiddos in a single family. I've never met someone so incredibly caring and wonderful with children, I can't imagine the progress our kiddo has made without starting with Miss Amara. Miss Nancy our daughter's last teacher in the green birds was phenomenal with helping to set boundaries, promote independence and provide homework so our little one could continue to explore her penmanship, reading and learning well after class. Miss Nicole always welcomed our daughter with open arms and absolute kindness to start her day. Miss Adrineh adored our daughter as if she was family, we could truly feel how much she cared for our lil' one. The staff overall pours their hearts into this school. The environment there is top notch with a gorgeous tree in the middle providing shade for the children and a brand new playground for the kids to use. It's next door to their pool so kiddos can also take swim classes during their time there. If you're looking for a caring and kind environment where your kiddo will flourish and won't want to leave because they're having too much fun, then you've found the right place! It is disappointing to see that many people are constantly on their phones, and several machines are not working properly. When members ask for help, the director suggests that customers should handle gym etiquette issues themselves. Meanwhile, membership prices continue to increase every year without any noticeable improvement in the quality of service or maintenance. read more

Management is awful, no sharing of machines in weight room. Too many Pickleball players don't follow the rules, aim at you on purpose, change the score, don't pay attention to what they are doing and end up hitting you with their paddles . Management doesn't care. Classes are okay, the rest is not! read more

They reconverted the gym ! The Y looks great especially the weight room. The entire gym got renovated from the floor up with state of the art equipment. They have the hottest along with the newest machines on the market. Everything is clean like it's never been used. These weight lifting sessions are going to be much more bearable. read more

I've been coming here essentially my whole life. The kids camp isn't bad, sports teams aren't terrible, swim classes are good, childcare isn't bad. I'd recommend the preschool. I had a lot of fun there as a kid. Not only do they teach your kid how to swim, your child will make lifelong friends. About ten years later, I still know some people I went to preschool with. Wow...i read some of the negative reviews and was shocked, then noticed that most are old. I joined in April of 2022 after I finished PT for a knee replacement surgery. I took one Aquafit class and was hooked. Now I'm going several times a week. The staff is welcoming, helpful and nice. The facilities are clean. The weight room is up to date. And I especially like the app that allows you to register for classes and see schedules on my phone. It's been lovely to get out and do something fun and meet new people too. read more

My son came here for Specialty All Sports summer camp. Once purchased ($250 for one week), there was no communication from the Y prior to the camp starting. Typically confirmation, instructions, and campers schedules are given in advance so parents are informed, but NOTHING. Even the addresses on the website and the registration page showed two different addresses for the camp location. I called but no answer, I emailed but no response. So I ended up going to the wrong location on day 1. First few days were just ok, my son told me the kids played alone a lot in a big auditorium. Worst part is the staff is so unorganized, they excluded my son from a Specialty Camp field trip by mistake and placed him in a room with one other kid and a lot of board games to keep themselves busy. Later when we got home at 2pm, he said he still hadn't ate his lunch that I packed him. They excluded him and literally forgot about him in that room! I spoke with Camp director Heather Harris, her response was that staff will be informed to make improvements. Parents think they are signing up for their child to be taken care of while they work, but this place literally shoves your kids into a room to keep themselves busy. We've been a member of la Canada YMCA for the last 20 years. I was recommended to have kids lesson at Tujunga ymca through friends. I'm glad I came here(about 5 miles additional driving) I love this YMCA...instructors are awesome!!! As a parent, personal attention and caring is always appreciated. read more

The preschool here is amazing. My son has been attending for over two years and I couldn't be happier. It's super safe with passcode entry which always gives peace of mind. They have a whole day planned and are always super organized. The kids don't just free play all day they learn and do projects. They help his brain grow and prep him for kindergarten. I can't say enough good things about this place and the teachers. I wish they offered k-12 because I would keep him here forever if I could. read more

Love this YMCA. Clean and with a great and helpful staff

I've been pleased with my membership, I feel that the quality of the yoga classes is pretty good, and the two hours of child care per day make this the only place a single parent like myself can get in a good workout. A note about the classes-- the class descriptions are vague at best, and I feel that the class content is more variable based on the instructor than the name of the class. You kind of just have to take what they have at the time you need and go with it. As for the child care, it's great. Really incredible, my son is always happy there. I'm bummed they stopped towel service, but I enjoy my towels more than theirs anyway, so I deal with it. read more

We stopped coming to this location after many years because it's become a hostile environment. The place has been taken over by unsupervised teenage boys who lack manners and are generally obnoxious We pulled our son out of basketball because his teammates were rude, non-inclusive ball hogs with poor sportsmanship. The coach only encouraged this nonsense. My son's water bottles were stolen multiple times and when we confronted the offenders, they just shrugged their shoulders. Just joined. I was a little concerned over the reviews here, but I found the negative ones not to be true. The facility is clean. It is not crowded. I have gone at different times and have had no problem finding a parking spot. The staff is very helpful and friendly. If one person doesn't know they find out. The actual area where weight machines are in, is small, but I haven't had to wait to use them. It is a nice family oriented facility. A few paint touch-ups would be ok. If they could get treadmills with tv screens it would be ok. Just wishful thinking. read more

This place is very well run, clean, well kept and has a good staff. The parking lot seems to accommodate the members even during crowded times. Good gym. I love their pool. Nice place to lap swim. Small-ish gym with various cardio machines, free weights, and lifting machines. My only complaint is often people talk on their phones while working out and there are often kids in the gym/weight room messing around. I belive both are against the gym rules, but unlike the one Canada facility, there are not really staff walking around to keep that stuff in check. Serves my purposes though and I do like coming here. I haven't taken any classes here, but I see/hear them often and always seem to be full. They offer programs for seniors too. Good spot. read more

This branch is poorly ran and the political jibjab that takes place among the staff and their superiors is extremely present and makes members really uncomfortable. To constantly hear from staff what they dislike about their jobs and that this* person is trying to get this other* person fired, or they heard that person wanted to quit for XYZ reason etc...I mean...it makes you worried sometimes. Also, to be approached by staff and asked to submit letters/emails against another staff member that they cannot fire until enough parents complain is ludicrous. In three years of being there I can tell you over 20 stories of employee drama and I'd really rather not know any of it... The majority of this review is specifically regarding the PreSchool. Learning Tree Preschool, not the babysitting center. This preschool is a small shaped L that can house about 85 children total - and I think the fact that there is generally never a wait list for this school can attest to the fact that its where you might go when you're low on options, not because you want your child there. I took my daughter there because they had an immediate opening for an un-potty trained 2 year old while she remained on the wait list of my school of choice. I can say with certainty that the only three teachers who are worth it are Amara, Christina and Lourdes, who are in the youngest children's classroom and will be your first experience with the LTP at the Y. Once your child advances to the Yellow, Green and Red classrooms it is down hill from there after Hermine (spelling?) left for bigger and better things. The teachers in Y, G and R are just....meh...Some I would say are scared of doing something wrong (see upper paragraph about their politics)...others I would say just collect a paycheck. This facility does not allow nuts of any kind. I can appreciate that they want to cater to the children with allergies, but most schools only refuse peanuts as banning all nuts is a little extreme. The worst part of this school is actually correctable. The Preschool Director, who is also a Greenbird teacher, is by far the worst part of this school. She could care less about your position or point of view because this thing will be ran her way, no exceptions. When you do have a dispute that you take above her head, her superiors will back her up and claim she has no reason to lie (except for employment preservation, of course). I am told that they do not want to have to replace her because she currently works for what they consider a desirable salary. Which, I suppose I understand. Saving on Payroll is a priority of mine in my business as well. But if she treats everyone this way, which I am told she does, I am sure this issue will be remedied at some point. Ultimately I decided to remove my child because it would soon be time for my child to be in the Director's class and I didnt want to have to deal with her on a daily basis. What I do like: -Swim lessons on Fridays are included with your tuition. -They allow you to apply for financial aid if that is something you need. -They warm up food for your child's lunch so theyre not stuck eating cold chicken nuggets, etc... -They take children that are not potty trained and assist with potty training. What I dont like: -Parking is a joke and they do not enforce the 5-min parking for those of us needing to drop off or pick up. -The dictator-esq management, and the timid staff who are unwilling to speak up for what is right for fear of losing their job (but again have no trouble complaining). -Also, the fact that you are made to feel as though if you do speak up your child's enrollment will be in jeopardy. -I have to sanitize my children when they get home because the facility is so small germs run high. Lots of lice and HFM notices throughout my time there. -They allow a really nice but odd fellow who is not employed with the school hang around the children, which makes me uncomfortable, which I voiced but was told he had submitted his fingerprints and taken a safety class, wtf? -Multiple times I have asked a friend or family member who was not authorized to pick up my child and they simply allowed it without asking questions (Except for Miss Sheryl, she ALWAYS asks for ID and even called me three times on these occasions). -Their method of teaching is more making cookie-cutter children vs. celebrating and/or embracing individuality. -The quality of your child's care is always dependent on who is watching them. No consistency. My suggestion is to do your homework and dont just enroll because it is the first place with an opening. If you are on a budget and qualify for their Membership for All, that is obv different, and unavoidable, but if so, you'll eventually see what I am referring to. And if you do have a sour experience, be sure to let the top dogs know so that at some point some one will do something about it. read more

This is a long overdue post... but I was originally going to be making a membership at Gold's Gym. But I thought I should first look at my options. This is definitely not as big of a gym as other gyms, but I eventually signed up here because of the customer service. I was greeted and got a tour by a young girl named Celine and she even offered me a 3 day guest pass because she wanted to make sure I loved the gym. Her and the rest of the staff were very attentive and made sure my experience was great. Until this day, I haven't had any bad things to say about either of the 3 Ymcas. Used to come here everyday for the gym mostly, and its very clean, well organized, and the staff is always very friendly and nice. The only thing that bothered me was that the boys who would play basketball would come to the gym after to just sit around on a machine talking to their friends, or fool around at the gym, disrupting everyone's workout. The machines are always clean and they provide sanitizing wipes to clean with after finishing. It does get a little crowded and busy, being that its not a very big gym. The parking is small too but maybe coming at certain times makes a difference. read more

It's been a while since I was a member there, but reading the 2 reviews available don't make me want to come back. I HATED it!! The staff was very rude and unhelpful. The pool area was grungy, even after the big renovation of the rest of the facilities. But the unforgivable thing was the way they treated their disabled members!! The handicapped shower was broken, and we told them so - nothing was done, so a severely handicapped member was badly scalded! After the "renovation", the women's locker room only had skinny, slippery benches with no backs, and my disabled friend could not use them safely. We started bring a chair for her - then the staff said we couldn't do that anymore. Eventually, they put chairs in, but these chairs were not assembled properly and one collapsed with my friend, injuring her already bad knee. Although this Y was closed during the renovation, we could not put our memberships on "hold"; we were told to go to the Crescenta/Canada Y, which already had problems with overcrowding in the parking lot. We could never get a handicapped spot - there were too few. I'm still furious thinking about it. I'm looking for a gym to join, but it won't be a Y! read more

Greatest costumer service,I just got my membership today.The guy (Jack) on front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. He explained everything about the facility to me. I enjoyed my first day workout, and I took some classes. Facility is so small and loved the brand new machines. It's not a place to show off like other gyms. As far as the teachers go, they're great for the kids but as far as parking goes.. TERRIBLE! I don't know if it's because this place has more senior citizens than a convalescent home but people just don't know how to park when it comes to this place!!! Every car was parked so ridiculously I couldn't even park in 5 different parking spaces, but then again I guess you can't blame the facility since it's the patrons who can't park. Such a great place! There are lots of programs and classes for kids as well as adults. It is truly a family friendly facility. They have child care certain times during the day so that you can bring your kids and get your work out in. Nice pool, beautiful facility. Pleasant outdoor space. The group exercise programs and schedules are great and so convenient for me with having a free daycare on site. I love all three locations of YMCA of the Foothills.
