Went for the first time on 3/10/26, the pool is heated and open year round. Currently the rest of the recreation center is being renovated, so the entrance is on Cahuenga Blvd, albeit the adress being Cole Ave. I arrived at 615 pm and found they close at 700pm. I paid a dollar to get in (50+), and found the staff to be courteous and friendly. You are given a ticket and then it is collected by the changing room attendant (you enter the pool via the changing rooms). There are no lockers, but the attendant can store your bag while you swim. Plenty of shower and toilet stalls, pretty clean, basic facilities. Most of the pool lanes were being used for youth water polo, and there was one lap swimming lane set up. The 3 ft area on either side of the deeper parts of the pool (the middle of the pool gets to 11 ft) were open swim so I just stayed close to the lap swim lane and had no trouble getting my workout in. I was the only one left doing laps after 630pm. I will be back, I appreciate not having to swim around other people and/or share a lane, we will see if that changes when summer comes around. read more

If only this place looked like the pictures. They should tear the slide down instead of reminding us how much fun it was when we could actually use it. The tarp over the slide looks like a typhoon hit it(dirty and ripped apart). Why tempt us? It's false advertising also. And there's a reason why they don't have pictures of the changing rooms. So dirty :( . Back before Covid when people actually worked(and wanted to work) the changing rooms were hosed down regularly throughout the day and clean. Now the attendants are on their phones the whole time instead of working. They clearly do not care about the people of this community and neighborhood when it comes to swimming and having a place to hang out in the Summer. I wanted to call the Health Dept. so many times but then I was afraid that they would shut it down permanently, other people that don't care about the filth might suffer and I wouldn't even have a place to lay out. I have wonderful things to say about this pool! It is clean and well -managed. It makes all the difference on these hot summer days. They offer free swim, lap lanes, family swim and it's very cheap! I just wish the park and recreation department would keep it open year round! As it is they open Memorial Day and close on Labor day. read more

It's nice. Clean. You can get a summer pass for kids under 18 for just 10$. At least this year. However they are strict on your swimming attire. Idk why that matters. Parents can hang out and watch their older kids play if they don't want to get in. Street parking around park can be free. read more

Loved this pool, very clean. The changing room wasn't the cleanest and there wasn't a changing room attendant the last time I went but everything else was great. A lot of posts are upset about the rules but the rules are the same at every la city public pool. All about safety. Water slide was closed not sure when they open it but they have a diving board and it was not very crowded. read more

The life guards are a joke and unprofessional smoking Presume to be weed because it smelled like right next to the pool on the outside of the fence with he's lifeguard shirt. My son having to have to smell that. They should put better life guard and more professional lifeguards. read more

I saw some comments on how rules are too strict. Well, it's a public pool at an extremely affordable cost, so I think this type of rules helps keeping it clean and safe during the busiest times. We love this pool, it's clean, not too crowded, and my kid can't get enough of the slide. Love the staff too. Favorite summer spot! read more

Lifeguards asked my 4 year old son to remove his US Coastguard Approved Puddle Jumper life vest due to the no floaties rule. This was shocking!! Most pools require this exact vest be worn by 4year olds. My sons feet dont even touch the bottom of the pool!! I dont understand it but we take it off. Minutes later; I am trying to get him used to the water without his vest and he is riding on my back.as I walk through the water. Obviously, my son cant tread water very well and now needs me as his flotation device. And Again the lifeguard yells. Now, that he can not hang on me.  Excuse me, He is 4 years old and I am his mother....of course he can hang on me so that he doesn't drown. What kind of policy is this?? And why are the lifeguard so very rude and condescending? The lack of safety, understanding and shear unprofessionalism needs to be addressed in a changing of the gaurd. read more

This review is not for the pool, but for the pools management. The pool is amazing but the hours of opposition are limited. This appears to be due to the parks department goal of meeting the needs of the system running the pool, but it's not conducive for members of the community who depend on this pool to maintain health and fitness goals. They force everyone to come during a small window where you are then forced to split lanes and wait for others to leave the pool. I suspect that if the pool was open ALL day, that more would utilize it. Consistency is an issue also. They change their schedule as the wind changes direction. Not good. If you're interested in understanding how dysfunctional this organization is, just call their phone and listen to the recording from 2016. Very friendly staff and well maintained pool. Regarding comments about nearby homeless, they are all over the city of LA and 1 in 3 are veterans. If it makes you uncomfortable, hopefully that good conscience means you are doing whatever you can to help out. Hollywood Pool is a cheerful place where people young and old relax and enjoy. There's a big water slide and diving board. There are swimming classes and competitions too. It would be nice if there was funding to keep the pool open year round. read more

Rebuilt and opened in 2016, this is a good pool and poolhouse with restrooms and showers. A swirling slide and 1 meter diving board provide plenty of fun. We usually swim here a few times each summer. Our eyes don't sting afterwards which is a sign that they keep the pool properly chlorinated. With a nominal entry fee of only $3.50/adult & $1/child be prepared for a variety of characters from a broad demographic range. Although the city posts the pool hours on the laparks.org site, you can't always rely on that unfortunately. One day it stated it would be open from 11am-5pm but we arrived at Noon and it was closed for an hour. Today the posted hours were 1-5pm but we arrived at 1pm only to find a sign written in marker that the pool would open at 2pm. Complete waste of our time due to mismanagement by the LA Dept of Parks and Rec. The biggest drawback is that the perimeter fence/wall of the park is often lined with a homeless encampment, which often translates into dirty indigents not only outside the park but they often enter the park too. If there is a breeze then their stench sometimes wafts over the pool. Tolerable but repugnant. Fortunately the showers and toilets are reserved for pool patrons only. read more

I only go for recreational swim, to lay out, and to cool down on hot summer days. So I can't speak to how this pool ranks as a lap pool. But its not bad for a local city pool and has fun activities for kids too! Never too crowded and the people working there are nice. It's only $3.50 and a city pool so don't go in with crazy high expectations and you'll be happy. Bring a couple towels (no seating there, only bleachers), some speakers, and snacks...and you're good to go. read more

Pretty much you can go here and stand in the water. No goggles that cover your nose, no floatation devices whatsoever (including Coast Guard approved life vests), no holding your children on your back if they can't swim but you also have to hold your child the entire time if they can't swim because again, no lifejackets. They also are the ones to decide if your child falls under the "hold-the-entire-time-but-only-in-the-front" category, even if your child CAN indeed swim. We were there a few weeks ago and a father with his 4-5 year old son was allowing the boy to swim to him from the wall (and he swam well!). But apparently, because of the child's age, the father wasn't to be more than an arms length away from him, so no supervised swim practice which, you know, strengthens the child's water skills. The power-drunk teen lifeguard was screaming at him and others (doing totally normal, safe pool activities) every two minutes. The slide isn't open and everyone is confined to 1/4 of the pool. The passes are only $10 for the summer but I feel it was a waste of money because we aren't going back. It's truly a miserable experience. read more

This pool is so fun! Diving board and the slide is honestly exhilarating. Locker room is standard and pool is clean and clear!
