Sunday afternoon, in Over the Rhine, I opened the driver side rear door of my 4-door pickup, tossed an umbrella in and closed the door. The window on that door immediately slid down into the door and although I could hear the window motor run, the window did not reappear.
I have been down the path before, twice, both times with the driver's door window. The window regulator in side the door had broken and would need to be replaced.
The nearest Dodge dealer did not open until 9:00 AM on Monday, so come 8:00 AM on Monday I was bemoaning my fate to some co-workers. One of them mentioned that his brother-in-law was one of the partners is Glass Pro and in addition to replacing windshields, mirrors, etc., they also would replace the mechanical parts controlling the windows.
I first called the Dodge dealer, so I would have a comparison price. $415!!! Ouch.
I then got a return call from Glass Pro, $309 AND they would come to my workplace and make the repair in the parking lot. No dropping the truck off at the dealer and having to find rides to and from work. BONUS!
I was told that I would receive a call on Tuesday, appx 30 minutes before they arrived. As promised the call came just before noon, followed 20 minutes later by a call from the service team from the parking lot, letting me know they had arrived. I went out, met them, handed over my key and went back to work. Appx 30 minutes later, my phone rang again and I was informed that they were done. I went back out, he showed me the failed part, took my credit card info and we were done.
Don't get me wrong, the $300+ still hurts, but much less so than the higher dealer price and associated inconvenience would have. I highly recommend Glass Pro and they have locations throughout the tri-state area. read more
