It's a Cow in a Coal Mine kind of night!
    Alden C.

I've been wanting to try beer from Glacier Brewing for some time now. I was fortunate to get a hold of some of their beers not so long ago and I enjoyed it! Cow in a Coal Mine was a dark, sweet, chocolaty and an enjoyable dash of vanilla stout that Steve and I both enjoyed. Perhaps not the most memorable stout I've strolled across and I have strolled across plenty but enjoyable all the same. I would also consider exploring more of their beer options should the opportunity ever arise again!

What a great find. Patrick made our stop worth the visit. A local, and friendly vibe at this local brewery that we fortunately found as we circumnavigated the lake. Friendly, fun and "always right", (mostly), Patrick, the brew and the conversation made this stop perfect. Chip and Adriane

Ride your bike here on a sunny day. You won't regret it. Delicious Port Polson Pilsner and the requisite head gear.

New owners - two brothers - since the last time I was here. Sounds like a change in the yeast is coming. Passing along what the owner said... "the new yeast will have a drier, less sweet finish to open up the tastes". I'm no beer oficionado, so I just nodded. I guess it's up to me to try out the new tastes this week.

Love Glacier Brewing! I travel full time with my dog, and one of the places we always seek out are craft breweries. In fact I mark my travels with stickers from each brewery we've experienced on my bathroom door of my Airstream. I'm an IPA fan and they produce a solid west coast style. And I'm not a flavored seltzer guy but I have to tell their's are really refreshing and tasty on a hot summer day if you're not a beer drinker. Also the food truck The Twist is great place to eat while enjoying Glacier's beer. Excellent food and service and I think would probably make you anything you'd like!

I come to Polson every year to see family. Glacier is my favorite brewery. We love Patrick. He has put effort and care into the seltzers, sodas, and of course beer he makes. Every year I make sure I take home plenty seltzer to share with friends. We love Trivia night on Wenesdays, the live music on the weekends and the atmosphere here any day of the week. Patrick we love you and we love your beer and the community you've created at Glacier Brewing Co!

Great family friendly local brewery with wonderful shaded outdoor seating! Root beer, birch beer and huckleberry cream soda options for the kids. Food truck provides tasty eats. Games like Jenga available to keep everyone entertained and did we mention the grass and shaded picnic tables. Neat space and posted apolitical policy. Add some very good beers (try the milk stout) and it's a win!

Fun space, kinda hidden location. Unique and fun selection of beers with many seltzer and non alcoholic options as well. Pinball games and great outdoor space.

Glacier Brewing Company is the only brewery in Polson. Sorry dear readers, only one brewery review this trip. I know, I know...No one will be able to live with their disappointment. This place has a very local, lived-in feel to it. Not shabby, don't get me wrong it just has s nice comfortable decor and the people were friendly. There are definitely some friendly people here. A gentleman named, Thomas, who is a local artist-sculptor came in after I did and we had a great conversation about art and travel. The brewery is well decorated with all manner of stuff and is very comforting when you walk in. Ok, now that you know I was comfortable there, let's talk beers. The Port Polson Pilsner is very light with a sweet, fruity finish to it. This would be a good summer beer. Golden Grizzly is a nice, yeasty, Kolsch. Nothing wrong with this at all! The Wildhorse Island Pale Ale, I'm guessing named after Wildhorse Island? Presumably that is an island on Flathead Lake here but not having local knowledge it's just an educated guess. This pale had a little bit of flavor I couldn't quite place, probably from the hops, but it didn't really work for me. Glacier Select Oktoberfest was tasty. It had a light amber color, a little sweetness at the end. It didn't have quite as much flavor as I would have liked and seemed almost a little watery as far as the taste. Mama Bear Blonde is a really, really nice blonde ale. This was one of the standouts for me. Delicate with no off flavors at all. The Slurry Bomber Stout is in the style of an Irish Stout. It had a nice creamy finish with good chocolate flavor. Really nice lacing too! I went back and revisited this one with a full pint. This was my favorite of their beers overall, and a very drinkable stout. Flathead Cherry Ale...just wow! At least on the aroma. It is described as a "...refreshing blend of a light-colored beer and a cherry flavor." Huge cherry on the nose and good cherry flavor but it came across as a cherry extract, not least of which was because of the way it was worded above. I asked the young lady serving me who confirmed it was not from fresh cherries, but regardless this was a nice beer. "Very refreshing" as it said on the beer menu! My flight included two sodas, the root beer and a pepper soda. I don't usually review soda when I do brewery reviews, mostly because I don't usually get soda with my flight. Anyway, the root beer was really good, and the pepper soda even better. Now my lack Of soda knowledge is probably showing but I was unfamiliar with pepper soda. It was great! Overall Glacier Brewing was an enjoyable stop for me. The beers were really good, but not outstanding for me. They are definitely worth a visit. Absolutely everything was tasty and drinkable. Granted there aren't many places I stop and leave beers on the table, but there was no danger of that at Glacier Brewing Company. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg

    Good beer here!

My 200th review!!! Every time we stay in the Whitefish, Montana area we reserve a day to take a road trip around Flathead Lake... swimming, eating, exploring and taking in the amazing scenery. Another regular stop on this almost yearly adventure has become a trip to Glacier Brewing Company. As I have stated before, I have been to dozens upon dozens of craft breweries and tap rooms at this point. The thing I love about Glacier is that it predates the craft beer craze. Most tasting rooms are new and fancy... Glacier is very "Montana", and I say that in the warmest way possible. It is old school, rustic, cozy and just damn cool. Lots to look at here, and a fun place to have a pint or two. The outside area is fantastic... it reminds me of having a beer back in my great uncles back yard in Manitoba. The beer is good, although I wouldn't say the best I have had in the region. I like having a pint of something different then filling my growler with the combination of Flathead Cherry Ale and Slurry Bomber Stout (they have a name for this half and half, but it escapes me). The bartender suggested this the first time we visited and it has been my go to here every time since. This spot is a bit off the main drag that cuts through Polson but is worth finding. Unpretentious craft beer drinking... what a concept!

AMAZING! The beer was good, the atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious! If you want one of the best fried chicken sandwiches, this is the place to go! We're visiting out of town and are so happy we were able to try this place. We ate outside and played fun games inside. Here for a few more days and definitely going back before we leave!

This is a cute brewery in Polson. Worth a visit. The beers are not outstanding. If you do like cherry or fruity notes in beers the flathead cherry beer is really good. Other than that I was not impressed with the other beers. The interior is really welcoming and nice. The staff is uber friendly and they leave you alone, no hovering. This is worth a visit and for being the only brewery in Polson, go support a local business.

For Flathead I had their Centennial IPA which I really liked a lot. I can get burned out on IPA'S pretty easily as they are everywhere but this summer (summer of 2025) I have had a hankering for IPA'S off and on. The Centennial proves to be a refreshing one for me the few times I have had it and firs the bill quite well for that occasional IPA hankering I've been having. Flavor highlights in this beer are hoppy, malty, floral and sweet (naturally sweet tasting). It's a very well balanced IPA with these features. The beer is also smooth in body. I look forward to returning as Steve and I are bound to pass through the area again but more for the purpose of sightseeing on that trip.

It's also very convenient that the brewery is extremely close to the Interstate so relatively easy on and off. But more importantly than that and what my primary focus is are those creative beers! I knew what my first beer was going to be right away and that's when I saw the Old Bull Fashioned. This amber ale tasted just like the Old Fashioned cocktail which I can't recall in ever having such a thing in beet form. It was a really fun one to drink and luckily where they had their beer in cans they had this beer available so I got to take it home and enjoy it once again! It seems like this brewery has a thing for pickles and looking at Yelp pictures they really get creative with toppings for them which is why I also purchased a can of the Spicy Pickle beer to take home. I have had pickle beer before but it's been a hot minute. Old Bull's version is very good and lives right up to the spicy pickle aspect quite nicely. With this beer though we had by itself and didn't pair it with any food as we were not sure what would be a good fit but despite that it didn't diminish our enthusiasm for it. Two other beers I got was their Exit 89 which was a great blonde ale and the Dark Horn English Porter. Both very enjoyable beers also. An additional thing which makes Old Bull so cool is if you go to the restrooms in the hallway you will see a map of all of Montana 's breweries, when they opened and the status of "closed" if the brewery is no longer in business. This is so informative and just really cool all the way around. Definitely a five star experience with this brewery!

OBB is right off 90 so if you are headed into or out of Missoula it's convenient to stop and check it out. We were first in the door right after they opened at two. OBB has a really nice taproom and it turns out has been around for about five years. Kind of a Big Dill is a spicy pickled blonde. She sounds like a good date actually. This was spicy but just as I was starting to worry I had made a mistake it mellowed out. Barbwire Crosser stout was very smooth and great roasty flavor. This would be really good on nitro! The Mrs is a Scotch wee heavy. Really nice flavor and would be perfect for sipping in front of the fire while it's snowing outside. It's not snowing now though! 60°!!!! Bugle Juice is a hazy IPA we it's really great juicy flavor. This beer should have "JUICY" in big letters across the butt of its sweat pants. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. SWPFTD had ordered a Straight Shooter amber ale. This was another solid beer. SWPFTD was happy with it and I like it when she's happy. OBB is putting out some really good beer. I travel a lot and go to breweries all over the country and OBB holds its own and then some. I liked all of these beers. Nicole working the bar was welcoming and a pleasure to talk to.
