So here is brewery visit #203 for me. On my way to Polson and saw that Ronan Cooperative Brewery was just off 93 so I pulled in for a taste. A fairly small taproom but very friendly, not just the space but the people as well. A flight of four for me included: Spring Creek Kolsch, which just Ron a gold medal at the North American Brewers Association conference. This was a good Kolsch, very true to style and I can see why it won gold. Last Best pale ale had more hip bitterness and flavor than I expected from the aroma. Not overpowering, just nice hop flavor that persisted all the way and lingered a bit. I ordered the Forbidden City amber in honor of SWPFTD since she couldn't be here with me. Not much on the nose but a good bit of bready caramel in flavor. I like a little more sweetness out of my ambers but this was good. Cedar Strip rye lager was light in color but full in flavor. It had that little almost peppery flavor that I associate with rye beers and whiskeys. This would be a staple for me if I were a local. They had a dunkles on the board so I got a little taste. And after the taste, even though I hate to buy another growler, I bought one and got the Mud Lake dunkles bock. I know SWPFTD will enjoy this one! The beers here were really good, the space was nice, and the staff and patrons were friendly. This was a win all around. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you!

This was my first stop on my brewery tour of NW Montana to complete my brewery passport! The kind woman who was serving beer behind the bar was very helpful and sweet & The head brewer came out to chat and made sure I liked my beer. All around fantastic service! (And the dill pickle popcorn was hard to beat (-: ).

    The entrance is tucked away.

We stopped in and had a few to support local brewers. We brought a few kids and they we able to play some games and have a root beer. Everything was top notch but the Last Best pale ale. It was pretty volatile. We enjoyed ourselves and it's worth a stop.

    A tasty flight at RCB!

I can't say enough positive things about RCB. The staff are amazing and the beer has been fantastic from day one. The amber is my favorite but I haven't had one yet that I didn't like. It's tucked away but worth seeking out if you're driving through Ronan!

The Forbidden City Amber is my favorite, a Düsseldorfer Alt, smooth and rich with mild bitter finish.

I really liked Old Bull Brewing for the main reason that their beers are experimental... or some of…read morethem anyway and those that may be less so are solid and enjoyable also. It's also very convenient that the brewery is extremely close to the Interstate so relatively easy on and off. But more importantly than that and what my primary focus is are those creative beers! I knew what my first beer was going to be right away and that's when I saw the Old Bull Fashioned. This amber ale tasted just like the Old Fashioned cocktail which I can't recall in ever having such a thing in beet form. It was a really fun one to drink and luckily where they had their beer in cans they had this beer available so I got to take it home and enjoy it once again! It seems like this brewery has a thing for pickles and looking at Yelp pictures they really get creative with toppings for them which is why I also purchased a can of the Spicy Pickle beer to take home. I have had pickle beer before but it's been a hot minute. Old Bull's version is very good and lives right up to the spicy pickle aspect quite nicely. With this beer though we had by itself and didn't pair it with any food as we were not sure what would be a good fit but despite that it didn't diminish our enthusiasm for it. Two other beers I got was their Exit 89 which was a great blonde ale and the Dark Horn English Porter. Both very enjoyable beers also. An additional thing which makes Old Bull so cool is if you go to the restrooms in the hallway you will see a map of all of Montana 's breweries, when they opened and the status of "closed" if the brewery is no longer in business. This is so informative and just really cool all the way around. Definitely a five star experience with this brewery!

So we are on our way home from Missoula where I had business and had checked out a couple of…read morebreweries. SWPFTD had picked up a Montana beer trail map and lo and behold Frenchtown has a brewery. How did I not know this and how could I not stop and make OBB brewery visit #276? OBB is right off 90 so if you are headed into or out of Missoula it's convenient to stop and check it out. We were first in the door right after they opened at two. OBB has a really nice taproom and it turns out has been around for about five years. Kind of a Big Dill is a spicy pickled blonde. She sounds like a good date actually. This was spicy but just as I was starting to worry I had made a mistake it mellowed out. Barbwire Crosser stout was very smooth and great roasty flavor. This would be really good on nitro! The Mrs is a Scotch wee heavy. Really nice flavor and would be perfect for sipping in front of the fire while it's snowing outside. It's not snowing now though! 60°!!!! Bugle Juice is a hazy IPA we it's really great juicy flavor. This beer should have "JUICY" in big letters across the butt of its sweat pants. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. SWPFTD had ordered a Straight Shooter amber ale. This was another solid beer. SWPFTD was happy with it and I like it when she's happy. OBB is putting out some really good beer. I travel a lot and go to breweries all over the country and OBB holds its own and then some. I liked all of these beers. Nicole working the bar was welcoming and a pleasure to talk to.
