*Disclaimer: A long but important review that may help someone*…read more I've always wanted to try sugar hair removal, especially at Sugar Me Suite. I found this gem on Instagram a few years ago and decided to try it since I moved closer to the area. I booked with Ms. Niki, the owner, using their online booking system on their website--it was relatively easy and straight to the point. I did receive an email confirmation with pre-visit consultation forms to prep for my appointment. They are located in a salon suite with plenty of free parking, which is a plus! Who doesn't like convenience? When you enter the salon, walk to the left and straight down the hall, and you'll see Ms. Niki's suite on the right (the last door). If she's finishing a client, there is a waiting area further down the hall. Ms. Niki is a very knowledgeable and passionate board-certified licensed esthetician, which made my experience with her highly comfortable. I struggle with a chronic inflammatory skin condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa, which causes recurring painful abscesses in various body areas due to blocked hair follicles. The primary areas include the breast, armpits, and groin, which rub together and create moisture, making it difficult for the skin to heal. Inconveniently, I had a flare-up near the pelvic area during my session that was irritated and bleeding non-stop. Ms. Niki treated that spot with a high-frequency tool that releases electromagnetic waves to the wound and stabilizes it. The sensation felt like a static shock-- it was bearable. But most astonishing, that spot stopped bleeding, and the irritation immediately went away. She then treated it with some Helichrysum essential oil containing an anti-inflammatory substance called arzanol, which plays a part in healing wounds. My experience was life-changing; I finally found a treatable holistic method to manage a skin condition that I've been living with for 17 years. Every four weeks, I book with Ms. Niki to maintain my progress to remove the hair and monitor or treat my flare-ups when necessary. Amazingly I did not have a flare-up at my recent appointment. Also, it's true, ladies, the sugaring pain level decreases when you are consistent, so make sure you keep this as part of your regular beauty maintenance. If you've experienced laser, it's not as painful, and if you've been waxed, it's slightly the same intensity, just not as uncomfortable, especially since tweezers are not involved. But what really makes sugaring a better alternative is that I don't get ingrown hairs, and it rids the dead skin, lightening up those dark areas. Overall my Sugar Me Suite experience was a 10 out of 10! Ms. Niki is genuinely the best in the industry.

Original review: The owner knows why I'm leaving one star, and so does corporate, but I'll fill in everybody else. I came once to try sugaring and really liked my sugarist - Kelly. Her demeanor convinced me to come back and I decided to get the membership because of her. A few months later, I found out she wasn't going to be working there anymore and this would be our last appointment. My membership was already charged on the first of May, and a week later was our final appointment. The day before, Sugaring LA called and confirmed my appointment. I took that opportunity to cancel my membership, I spoke with the owner herself said she had taken care of it. A few minutes later, I received another call saying my sugarist was no longer available. I said I didn't want an appointment with another sugarist, and they offered the appointment for free. When I said I had already auto-paid on the first of the month, the poor receptionist had no clue what to say. She implied that my membership hadn't been cancelled, but I assumed she was incorrect. I said I had to think about it, and we ended the call. The next day, I got an email confirming my appointment with another sugarist. I was annoyed, since I never agreed to that, but it was after the 8am cutoff and I didn't want to be charged a cancellation fee. When I arrived to my appointment, I attempted to use the restroom, and I noticed there was no toilet paper, so I asked for some. My sugarist (who was a new hire and all alone in the studio) said they didn't have any and the owner was aware of the issue. Not a big deal, just odd. Then, when I was undressed on the table, my sugarist realized the room wasn't stocked with the necessary tools and she had to go to a neighboring room. I felt uncomfortable being undressed with the door open, but again, not a big deal. More than anything, I felt bad that this new hire was in such an awkward situation and was seemingly set up to struggle. She did a great job, and was kind, but after all this I didn't trust that my membership was actually cancelled. Spoiler alert - it wasn't. I spoke with reception and they verified that my account was never cancelled, even though I spoke with the owner, Ose, herself. She had simply lied to me. I'm sure she will make any excuse to minimize that fact. Hilariously, after my appointment, they sent me a text asking from 1-10 how likely would I be to recommend Sugaring LA. A month ago, solely due to the exceptional customer service from the hourly staff, it would've been a 10. Now, solely because of the owner's behavior, it's a 1.
